𝐉𝐎𝐁𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐒 𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐃 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐃,he knew it was wrong to even entertaining akira but he couldn't stop himself. amara had blocked him last week after his 100th call this month and trent had told him to "just lease her alone." he knew he'd made a mistake but he never realised how drastic the effect of his words could be.
today was his 18th birthday and he wasn't even happy, he hated it so much. amara had practically already planned his party for him and so he would be having a party planned by a woman who wasn't even attending.
"jobe, come on it's almost time to go." jude said as he walked past his brother's room to find him still on his bed
"jobe, come on" jude asked when he didn't receive a response
"yeah i'll get up." jobe said wanting nothing more for jude to just go away and leave him be.
"is everything ok, bro?" jude said as he walked into his brother's room.
"no, it's not ok, because it's my birthday and my girlfriend hasn't even wished me a happy birthday yet."
"can you even still call her your girlfriend, you haven't spoken in over a month."
"we never broke up." jobe said bluntly.
"she blocked you."
"but she never dumped me."
"do you really expect her to just forgive you like that?" jude asked as he sat next to jobe on his bed.
"you said i should give her space and time and she'll come around."
"and you didn't"
"i tried, i left her alone for a whole week and i got nothing, did you expect to just sit around and let her forget me?"
"you didn't even give her the chance to forgive you how's she going to forget you?"
"i tried my best, i sent twenty five bouquets to her house, twenty five jude and i got nothing." jobe said as he put his head in hands in defeat.
" do you expect her to forget everything you said because of a few roses."
"so what am i meant to do?"
"give her time, she'll talk to you when she's ready."
"what if she never speaks to me?"
"then so be it." jude said as jobe stayed silent with his head still in his hands.
"come on, it's your birthday, stop being so sad, you've got a party in two hours." jude said when he received no response.

it was time for jobe's party and he was shitting bricks. not only had jude dragged him out of the comfort of his beloved bed, but he was now forcing him to socialize.
"can i go home now?" jobe sighed as jude dragged him around making sure he said hi to everyone and thanked them for coming.
"it's only seven, i'll let you go at nine."
"that's in two more hours???"
"yeah i know." jude said rolling his eyes.
"no way, you know i'm eighteen, i can get home on my own."
"oh yeah?" jude said laughing at his brother.
"mhm!"
"where are we right now?"
"um some random club place, i don't know but i'll find my way."
"ok yeah, you're not going anywhere unless you want to get kidnapped."
"i hate you so much."
"love you more jobey." jude said hugging his jobe, who pushed him off instantly.
"we should go talk to noah and toby."
"do i even have a choice?"
"nope."
"there's the birthday boy!" noah said as he hugged jobe
"birthday boy isn't looking so happy?" toby said ruffling the boy's hair.
"nah he's suffering from heartbroken idiot syndrome." jude said from beside him.
"ahh, i know jude's familiar with that." noah said smiling at his friend.
"something to do with a specific daisy?" toby chuckled as noah nughed him, laughing as well.
"guys." jude warned.
"sorry, sorry."
"what's wrong with jobe though?"
"he got mad and started cussing amara out."
"oh no."
"that's never good."
"yeah, i'm surprised trent even came after everything."
"he just needed an excuse to get drunk, he's also suffering from heartbroken idiot syndrome."
"him too?"
"it's really common these days."
"damn."
"jobe what you need is some alchohol, it'll make you forget everything."

"then give me as much as possible."
"slow down there buddy, you just turned eighteen, we don't need you overdosing."

after a while, the trio had left jobe at the bar since rico had come to sit with him. the two had now drank themselves into a well as they were both dealing with 'heartbroken idiot syndrome'. the pair were laughing together at stupid jokes that didn't make sense when they heard a female voice from behind them.
"hey, happy birthday jobe."
"uh, thanks kira, didn't know you were coming."
"yeah me neither but lou brought me as her plus one."
"oh that's cool, so how are you?"
"i'm great, nice party."
"thanks but i didn't plan it."
"who did?"
"does it really matter who planned the party, i mean a great party is a great party."
"yeah i guess so."
"so what are you two doing here."
"just chatting."
"mind if i join you?"
"not at all."
akira sat beside jobe and they were, as rico would say, 'dangerously close.' the three continued to talk and jobe seemed to actually be having fun. soon it was nine and jude had come to collect jobe.
"jobe, it's time to go."
"already?"
"what happened to wanting to go home?"
"that was two hours ago, i'm having fun now."
"with kira?"
"and rico!"
"come on, i told mum i'd bring you back before ten."
"ugh fine, see you later guys."
"jobe, wait."
"i didn't give you your present yet."
"oh what is it, i love gifts." jobe said right before akira leaned in and pressed her lips against his. his eyes snapped open before shutting again as he leaned into the kiss.
"happy birthday jobe." she said as he pulled away.
the journey home was fairly silent as jobe was still a bit shocked from what had just happened to him while jude was trying his best not to cuss jobe out for kissing someone else.
"jobe, what the hell."
"what?"
"she kissed you?"
"and?"
"what about amara?"
"amara blocked me, she's clearly done with me"
"do you really think that?" jude asked as he drove into their garage.
"you told me to give her space."
"yeah i did, i never told you to go kissing other girls though."
"what exactly do you want me to do jude, she doesn't want me anymore and i'm sure she's moved on, so why can't i?"
"because that's not how love works."
"like you know anything about love." jobe said shaking his head as he got out of the car and slammed the door shut.
