NOTE - I hope you guys want Ayaka and
reader backstory/lore because you're
getting it next chapter whether you
like it or not! 😛

At around 8 you left work for the train station, and you didn't board your train till about 8:45, When you could board there were only a few seats available. You sat in between two elderly women and kept your head low.

You forgot to bring your earbuds today so you couldn't listen to music to help time move faster. You decided to scroll through Instagram to pass the time silently. You hadn't been too active on Instagram when it came to posting since maybe a little bit after you started working with Ayaka.

Mainly because your social life took a little decline because you got so busy and your college friends had lives of their own. You scrolled occasionally because you followed several of your favorite celebrities, and you loved to stay up to date.

When you opened Instagram you didn't expect to see a new post from Sakusa. It was a carousel post so that meant there were several photos. The first photo was a photo of him and his teammates at the gym. His teammates and him standing in a group half circle and some smiling at the camera—his seemed forced.

You laughed quietly at his expression before swiping to the next photo. Upon seeing it your eyes widened and you suddenly felt flustered. It was a mirror photo—at the gym of course and he was flexing a covered arm in the mirror.

He wore a long black-sleeved shirt that hugged him in the right places and sweatpants. You were starting to be very thankful that his arms were covered because you weren't sure how you'd act if that wasn't the case.

The next photo was a picture of his coffee from earlier in his car. In the middle compartment that seemed to be all so you went to the next slide which was the last one and it was just a scenery photo of the sky. It didn't take you much longer to double-tap the post and you were ready to scroll away but the number of comments intrigued you.

You clicked the comments which were flooded with different variations of people praising Sakusa's looks and others were about...keys? You furrowed your brows as you scrolled through the comments talking about two sets of keys in his cup holder.

So you scrolled back to the photo and your eyes scanned the photos once more. Shit.

You put your phone forms on your lap and begin to rummage through your bag. Your keys weren't there—you had left them in Sakusa's car. You must've dropped them but that meant he put them in his cupholder. Then proceeded to take a photo and post it. Did he know what he was doing?

The problem with your keys being in the photo was that your keychain lanyard was a pink hand-wrist one. Right next to his set of keys that had no lanyard but was just a set of keys.

You scrolled back through the comments and read more.

user372947 they must be his girlfriend's keys, how cute

lo___min interesting choice in lanyard🧐

sakusakiyoomiupdates so sorry that this is how you guys find out about us🙈

ninjashoyo yeah pink keys are interesting...

The comments went on like that for a while and you stopped scrolling at some point. So he has my keys then? You assumed he'd be home when you got back to the building—or at least you hoped so. Otherwise, you might have to message him about it.

You turned your phone off and began to tap your leg anxiously. Suddenly you were very hyper-aware of your surroundings. There were some teenagers on the train and that immediately made you nervous. What are the chances they know anything about volleyball and keep up with celebrity news?

That's when you see them look at you and start to whisper. 'Please don't be about Sakusa' you quietly plead in your head. One of the girls in the mixed group began to walk over to you. She was blonde and had a blank stare on her face when she approached you.

"Hello?" you say upon her arrival in front of you. "Hi," she says while grabbing hold of a pole not far from the both of you. "Can I help you?"

"Are you dating Sakusa Kiyoomi or Kodzuken?" she asks while putting her phone in your face. On the phone screen, were two photos side by side. One of you today with Sakusa inside the cafe and the other of you with Kozume at that ramen shop.

"Neither." You respond and the PA system announces the train's arrival in Higashiosaka, Osaka. Without another look at the girl you grabbed your bag, put your phone in your pocket, and exited the train.

As you paced away you kept looking over your shoulder to see if that girl and her group were getting off. Luckily it didn't seem like they were. So you kept your focus on getting home and left the station in a rush.

By the time you got back to the building and entered the lobby, you didn't stop to say hi to anyone and went straight to the elevator. When you clicked the button to the 14th floor you felt something stir in your stomach.

It wasn't the usual nerves or anxiety. It was a different feeling and it wasn't good. It almost felt worse than either of the two.

When the elevator opened and you stepped out onto your floor you didn't feel any better. You rushed down the hall past your apartment and to Sakusa's and knocked on the door.

You waited, then nothing.

Maybe one more try. So you knocked again and waited, you were going to assume he wasn't home and just head down and ask for a copy of your key but you heard music come from inside the apartment.

"So he's here," you mumbled and you knocked again. This time you hear footsteps approaching and the door finally opens to reveal...Nakamura. Sakusa's ex girlfriend.

"Can I help you?" she asks with a closed-eyed smile. She hadn't even looked at you. "Oh is Sakusa around?" you ask narrowing your eyes on the woman. Her eyes snapped open and when she saw you her smile faded and she started to glare.

Nakamura took a step out into the hallway causing you to take a step back. Shutting the door behind her she began to speak, "Look I don't know what your obsession with Kiyoomi is, but you need to not follow him home like a freak." she spat at you.

"I live in the building—matter of fact I lived here before him." you retorted quickly. "So I don't wanna hear your assumptions I just came for my keys."

She was ready to say something else to you but the door opened behind her and this time it was Sakusa. "Nakamura what are you doing—oh L/n," he stops when he sees you in front of the girl. "I have your keys give me a second," he says before walking back into his apartment.

You and Nakamura glared at each other in silence but she didn't dare say a word until Sakusa came back. "Here you go," he says while handing over your keys. "Thank you," you replied while accepting the keys and you didn't waste another second in Nakamura's presence and left for your apartment.

"See you around?" Sakusa called out behind you and you responded with a small "Yeah." and unlocked your apartment door from down the hall.

When you took a glance back at where you just were you saw Nakamura reentering Sakusa's apartment. behind him.

As soon as you entered your apartment that brief untamable feeling that settled in your stomach decreased. It was still there but it wasn't gone.

And for some reason, you wanted to cry. Normally when a lot was going on in your life you'd talk with Ayaka about it. She gave you great advice, she was wise. She was the only parental figure you had left in your life that you could talk to.

Sometimes you knew you shouldn't think of her that way but once you called her mom on accident she laughed at you and teased you about it. You missed her a lot. All you wanted to do right now was talk to her about how different your life felt without her.

How you wish things never changed and how you wish she were still around.

You hadn't been in her room since her passing but you found yourself mindlessly walking towards her vacant room.

That's when that feeling in your stomach completely vanished. You took to her bed and sat there, then you lay down, and before you knew it sleep overcame you.
