(I made up the name of the school.)

Sophia's point of view

I grabbed the blue sticky letters off of my desk, and went to the outside of my door. I began peeling the letters of my name off and sticking it on the door, smiling as I did so.

When I finished, I put the stickers away and then grabbed all of my old picture frames. I switched the ugly frames with the new ones the guys bought me and hung them up on my wall, a few sitting on my desk and nightstand.

I grabbed the glow in the dark stickers of music notes and instruments and then placed them on the wall beside my bed. I also had some that resembled stars and planets and rockets but those go on the ceiling and I can't reach that high.

I didn't have anything to do after I finished, seeing as the guys were down recording their music, so I slipped on a pair of Vans and went to the back yard. I grabbed the basketball and then went to the hoop they had.

I shot the basketball and it immediately made a hoop. I smiled and grabbed the ball. I hummed the lyrics to an Eminem and Rihanna. I wasn't a good singer, but I like to think that I could rap. I always enjoyed rapping.

I quietly rapped Eminem's part in the song 'The Monster' and bounced the ball on the concrete before shooting it again. It bounced off of the rim and right into the fence. I winced, hoping no one was out there or could hear it.

I ran after the ball and then picked it up, hearing a feminine voice tell her mum that it was just 'some kid's ball'.

"Well they better make sure to it doesn't come in our yard because if it does it is ours and I'm not giving it back." A rather firm voice spoke. She sounded like those really strict mum's in the movies.

"Hey," I heard a voice and then someone peek over the fence. "Oh, it's you again. Hi." I saw the face of the girl I saw when I went shopping and I smiled.

"Hey." I said and she asked if it was my ball that hit the fence. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I didn't mean too... and don't worry about my ball going in your yard, it won't, I promise." I said and she smiled.

"It's okay. Even if it did fly over here, I would have given it back." She told me and I nodded. "It's don't think we ever properly introduced ourselves, have we?" She asked and I shook my head.

"Can you around the front yard? My hands hurt from grabbing the fence." She told me and I nodded. "Great. See you in like a minute." She beamed and I nodded.

I left the ball and then ran into the house. I closed the door to the backyard and then made my way out to the front yard, closing the door behind me after I walked out.

"Hey," she said and I made my way to where she was. We were literally in between our houses. "I'm Makenna." She said and held a hand out. "Makenna Santana."

"The name is Sophia," I told her, shaking her hand as if we were adults doing business. "Sophia Clifford." I told her and she smiled.

"As in Clifford the big red dog?" She asked and I laughed. "I'm kidding, that must have been offensive, I apologize."

"No, it's okay, it was funny actually." I said and we pulled our hands away as we realized they were still clasped together. "Clifford as in Michael Clifford." I told her and she nodded.

"That one guy in that one band?"

"Yes, that one guy in that one band." I said and we both laughed. She asked me if he was really gay and I shook my head. "It's a bit complicated I guess." I said and she nodded.

"Let's get off of this topic before I end up confused." She said and I nodded. "What we're you doing out there?" She asked me and I took a seat on the concrete because my legs were hurting. "The floor is rather comfortable, huh?"

"Extremely." I said and she took a seat beside me, flattening out her skirt. "I was playing basketball to kill time. I didn't have anything else to do."

"You could have texted me." She said and I laughed, telling her I forgot. "It's okay." She role me and I nodded. "Are you new around here?" She asked me. "I never seen you before."

"Yeah," I told her and she asked what school I was going to. "They haven't talked to me about school yet, I'm not sure." I said and looked at her. "What school do you go to?"

"It's nearby, like seriously five minutes away. It's called Nicholas High." She told me and I nodded. "You'll be in year 9, correct?" She asked and I nodded. "If you do end up going, I'll probably end up seeing you there a lot."

"Makenna! Get off of the floor! You are ruining that beautiful skirt I had bought you!" A woman shouted and she stood up quickly. It would be wrong for me to be sitting on the floor while she had a skirt on so I stood up aswell. I had respect.

"I'm sorry mother." Makenna said, dusting off her skirt. "Is it dirty?" She asked me and she turned around. I shook my head and she smiled. "I'm sorry, my mother is really strict."

"It's okay." I told her. "If you want to sit down with me, you could use my hoodie. It's alright with me." I told her, grabbing the zipper. "That way your mother won't get mad."

"No, it's fine. Keep your hoodie. My mother would still get mad." She told me and I nodded. I was about to ask her about her hobbies to get to know her better, but then her mum stared calling for her. "I'm sorry, I'll talk to you later?"

"Of course." I said, trying not to smile at how hopeful she sounded. She told me to text her and I nodded. "I will, promise." I said and then I heard Michael calling for me.

"I'm coming mother!"

"I'll be there in a second Michael!"

"See you later." She said and I nodded. She made her way back into her house and her mum gave me a glare.

I turned around and then ran back to the guys' house, seeing Michael looking a bit upset. "Why didn't you tell us you were going to go outside?"

"You were recording and I didn't want to disturb you guys." I said. "Besides, I didn't know how long I was going to be out here. Originally I was in the backyard but she walked to talk without a fence between us so I came out here."

"Next time tell us okay? I thought something happened to you, Calum too." He told me and I nodded. "Come on, dinner is ready. It's mashed potatoes and steak. You like steak right?"

"Yeah." I said and he nodded. I took a seat beside Calum and then looked at him. He stared back and I just waved at him, turning towards Michael as he spoke up.

"Who was that girl?" He asked me and I held a finger up. I took a drink of water and he rolled his eyes.

"I met her in Forever 21 and it's really cool that she's our neighbor." I said and he nodded. "All we did is sit on the curb, stand too, and talk about stuff."

"In speaking of talking about stuff, school young lady." Michael brought up and I hummed. "We decided to give you a choice. We could either enroll you into the public school that's about five minutes away, or you could go to the private school that's about ten minutes away."

"Is Nicholas High the public school or the private school?" I asked and he asked me how I knew the name of the school. "The girl I was talking to goes there." I told him and he nodded.

"So... would you like to go to Nicholas High? It's a public school." He told me and I nodded. "Well... Luke and Ashton can go pick up your school supplies. Michael and I going to stay home with you, is that okay?"

"Yeah, of course." I said and he nodded. "Michael, is your hair naturally that color or do you dye your hair?" I asked him. It didn't look natural.

"It's dyed." He answered and I nodded. "Why?" I told him I was just wondering and he nodded.

"We're probably just going to sit around and eat pizza all day." Calum said and I laughed. "Maybe we'll turn on Netflix and watch some shows or go through vine just for the hell of it."

"What's that tattoo on your hand Calum?" I asked as I noticed letters on his hand. He told me it was his parents name and I nodded. "Cute." I said and he laughed.

"I know." He said and I looked down at my plate. I ate some of the steak and almost all of the potatoes. I was about to burst.

"Michael, I'm full." I said and he nodded. "Do I just put it in the counter?" He nodded again and I stood up. I took the plate and then set it on the counter.

I set my glass beside my plate and then went up to my room after thanking the guys for the meal. I closed the door and then stripped out of my jeans and t-shirt. I kicked them into the basket and then threw on some leggings and a loose t-shirt.

I jumped on my bed and then grabbed my phone off of the nightstand. I unlocked it and then sent Makenna a text, asking what's up and telling her that it was me, Sophia.

As I waited fkr her response, I went on my playlist and played the song 'Love The Way You Lie' by Eminem and Rihanna on repeat since I liked that song a lot.

I put my phone in my pocket and then began to rap along to the song as I went to my seat to grab some of the glow in the dark stickers that had to do with outer space. Before I could walk out, someone walked in.

"Hey sweetheart, want to start the decorating now?" Calum asked me and I nodded. "Here, let me see those." I nodded and then handed him the pack. "The chair too."

"Maybe-Maybe we should get one without wheels on it." I told him and he thought about it for a second. He agreed and told me he'd be back with a chair.

Once he left, I continued rapping along with Eminem's solo and went to put my hair in a ponytail. I didn't even hair how messy it was, my hair was just annoying me.

"Baby please come back, it wasn't you, baby it was me, maybe our relationship isn't as crazy as it seems, maybe that's what happens when a tornado meets a volcano, well all I know I love you too much to walk away," I rapped after I washed my face

"Are you singing Eminem?" I heard Calum's voice and I blushed. I stopped and then dried my face on a towel. "I got the chair too."

"Okay," I said and walked out of the bathroom, closing the door and turning the light off. "Before you out those up, can you put those rockets on the ceiling fan so when you have it on all you see is a the greenish color moving in a cirlce?"

He laughed and nodded, doing as I said because he thought it'd be cool. "I'll just put the stars and planets anywhere on the ceiling then?"

"By the bed?"

"Of course." He told me and stepped down from the chair to put on the stickers. My phone buzzed and I pulled it out quickly, seeing she had texted back.

'Hey Soph, sorry for the late reply, my mum was lecturing me on how not to talk to strangers. Like, how else do it make friends?' She sent me and it laughed as I agreed.

"Sophia?" Calum asked and I looked up from my phone. "Is that okay?" He asked and I rushed to turn the lights off to see. "Woah, I might just spend the night in your room because of those." He said and I laughed.

"It's perfect." I said and turned the lights back on. I rushed up to him once he finished and gave him a hug. "Thank you Cal." I said and he chuckled, telling me it's okay.

"I was serious, let me stay the night in here because damn they look good." He said and I laughed. I nodded because this is his house, he can do whatever he wants.

"I'll go put the chair back, get ready for bed sweetie." He told me and I nodded. He grabbed the chair and I pulled my phone out, sending a text to Makenna that I was going to bed. She told me she was too and after we wished each other a good night with sweet dreams I turned my phone off.

I went to my bathroom, quickly did my business and then put my hair in a braid rather than a pony tail so it doesn't get too tangled while I sleep. I didn't care about the waves though, they were go in to be straight tomorrow.

I took off my bracelets and then put them on the counter for tomorrow. I brushed my teeth quickly and then walked out of the bathroom, closing the door behind me.

"I did such a good job at putting those stickers up, wow." Calum said since he was sitting on the bed and looking up. "I might do this to my own ceiling. They look cool." He told me and I laughed.

"Do it." I said and he nodded. I got into bed and he laid down, leaving space between us so it wasn't all that weird. "Can you turn the light off?" I asked and he nodded.

Once the light was off, you could see all of the stickers really nicely. "I'm not tired yet Calum." I told him and he turned towards me.

"Are you sure?" He asked me and I nodded. "We could talk then I guess. I don't know. I never really stood up with someone. They always fall asleep on me." I laughed and buried my head into my pillow.

"Because you're boring." I joked and he chuckled. "What do you want to talk about?" I abs ked him and he shrugged his shoulders.

"I dunno." He said. "You're not religious, are you? You don't go to church every Sunday and pray and stuff?" He asked me and I shook my head.

"Why? Do you?"

"No. I was just asking because if you did, it would be wrong of us to not allow you to go to church and do all of that stuff." He told me and I nodded.

"Do you believe in god?" I asked him and he was quiet. "I don't. I don't have a solid reason or proof of his non-existence, but I don't think there's someone up there. Heaven and Hell? I don't think that's real either."

"I do actually." He said. "I just do I guess. I don't have a solid reason either. I just believe he's up there." He told me and I nodded. "We all have sifferent beliefs though. Some think he's there, others don't. There is no wrong I guess when it comes to things like this."

"Yeah." I agreed and pulled the blanket up higher. "Do any of the guys believe in god too?" I answer and he nodded.

"One way or another yeah. They all think he's real, but none of us are big followers of religion and such. We simply believe he exists, nothing more to it. Ya know?" He asked and I nodded.

"Yeah, I understand perfectly." I said and I could see him turn towards me. "What?" I asked.

"It's just a bit strange a fourteen year old girl is more understanding than a majority of adults and teenagers." He told me. "It's also refreshing to know because you're the future and our future isn't going to be completely fucked."

"If people keep using others to the point where everyone is scared of love and to be loved then the future is screwed. If people keep being so judgemental and so unfair, this world is going to go nowhere." I told him, my eyelids falling a bit. "And if people keep being sexist."

"You have deep thoughts at such a young age." He told me and I nodded. I yawned and he chuckled. "Go to sleep darling," he said and I nodded.

"Good night Calum."

"Good night Sophia."
