It had been around 2 days since I had fought the Guardian of the Southern Monster Heart.
I was simply resting at my inn room - slightly recovering after the quick use of all my Magical Energy in such a short time period.
'Jesus... You would think that I would have regained all my Magical Energy through evolution... Well, I did - but my body still fell weak after using it all up in one go..'
I thought before exhaling heavily.
Even though it has been 2 days, my body still felt a bit weak and quite hurt, however it had 'healed' enough for me to actually start moving around.
So, maybe I should get my ass up and go look for requests at the Adventuring Guild... After all, I don't want to be removed from the Guild members list as an Active Adventurer.
Even if technically it wasn't by choice, the simple fact that I hadn't given them any warning about my unattendence meant that I was running the risk of being removed from the list.
'Not getting kicked out just yet.'
I thought, before quickly jumping up into a sitting position on my bed.
The inn room I was staying at was beginning to feel more and more homey with every time I came to rest and I guess 'live' here.
But even then - I already had plans to move out and perhaps get a home of my own someday.
Jumping off my bed, I quickly grabbed my jacket, before putting it on, running over to the door and leaving the room in the moments that followed.
Once I was out on the streets - I was met with the usual, charming and quite lively atmosphere that engulfed the town. It was also something that was beginning to grow on me.
'There's just so much to see here..'
I thought, before suddenly shedding a sweat.
I should also not forget that if they ever found out that I was not actually human, I'd be dead meat...
Or atleast... I think I would. But then again - would they even manage to scratch me with my unreal stats?
Would they even be able to do as little as that?
Well, who knows.
All I know, is that I was NOT going to test thar theory, at all. Better safe than sorry.
I made my way to the Adventuring Guild building, before entering - being met with equally as lively atmosphere inside the building itself.
Spotting the Lizardman Receptionist I was used to, I quickly made my way over to him.
"Hey! It's been a little while."
Technically, it's only been like 2 days... But even then, it felt like forever.
The lizardman receptionist lifted his head up before exhaling in suprise.
[Lizardman Receptionist] "My, it's been Two Days Mr. Shin - where have you been?"
"Oh- I was just resting at the inn I'm staying at... I had run into some trouble 2 Days ago and that took quite a toll on me."
Technically I wasn't lying - I did fight the Guardian Dragon thing 2 Days ago, so I was by technicality, telling the truth.
The lizardman receptionist simply laughed.
[Lizardman Receptionist] "Well I'm glad to see you're safe and sound."
He stated before placing the quill he had been holding into an ink vile to the side.
[Lizardman Receptionist] "So then, are you here to take some quests?"
"Mhm! I actually was worried about me being removed from the Active Adventurers whole board because of my 2 Day inactivity.."
I laughed nervously, rubbing the back of my head. The lizardman receptionist simply also laughed, before shaking his head lightly.
[Lizardman Receptionist] "Oh you don't need to worry about that. That rule only applies when an Adventurer hasn't been active for 2 Weeks."
THANK CHRIST- I was so scared thinking about being removed from the list of active adventurers because of my hiatus...
But, alas, seems like my worries were unfounded.
"Soo.. got any quest recommendations for me?"
[Lizardman Receptionist] "You're actually in luck - I just got 3 Quests for slaying some monsters and bringing back their materials."
He stated, before taking out three papers from under his desk, placing them infront of me.
The three quests in question were as follows - Slay 7 King Direwolves and bring back their tails, Slay 3 Acid Slimes and bring back their 'cores', and
finally — Slay 9 Inferior Goblins and bring back their blood in a vile.
The last one was strange to me - why bring back their blood? Perhaps for some weird medical reasons?
Well, whatever the case, these all seemed easy enough.
"I'll take all of them."
Lizardman Receptionist exhaled.
[Lizardman Receptionist] "Very well. I'll sign them off on your name then."
I gave a quick nod to the receptionist, before turning around and running out of the Adventuring Guild building.
The lizardman receptionist simply gazed at me leave, almost like he was slightly reminiscing in memories.
Later. . .
After completing all three of the quests I had accepted, I received my reward and left the Guild building.
134 Silver and 98 Copper - Not bad! Although, seems like it's less than I received for doing the last two quests I had took on.
Is it because these three quests were of my rank this time? But that would mean that taking quests that are higher rank than mine pay out more..
Well, whatever. What mattered more is that I had gotten my reward AND secured my position at the guild adventurer list, so the risk of being removed was no more - even if there wasn't such risk ever.
So I suppose now I could return to my inn room and rest for the rest of the day.
As I began to walk away from the Guild Building, I decided to take the way through the towns market - just to see what stuff I could perhaps buy.
Although - buying items still seemed a little 'strange' to me, as I was so used to my style of living as a snake in the wild, it was becoming a bit... Difficult? To now jump shift back to a 'Human' style of living.
Well.. to some extent.
As I wandered into the market, I found myself in the midst of a crowd after a crowd - it was very, very busy.
There were people at all sorts of vendors around the marketplace, discussing products or just chatting.
It honestly was... Refreshing to see? I suppose?
To be honest, there wasn't any 'real' way to put it.
Refreshing was sort of loose and didn't explain much... Wait - could it be I simply had been longing for more interaction with beings that could talk and didn't want to end me?
Could that be it?
Eh- whatever.
As I continued to wander the market, I approached what looked to be a fruit vendor. After grabbing and paying for an apple - or atleast, I think it was an apple - I went on my very way, continuing to stroll through the market.
Well, that was until...
[Holy Guard] "Make way!"
A sudden voice shouted. Curious, I looked back at the street behind me, only to see the large crowds of people off into two sides, all together - almost like sardines - as a Large, white horse began to make it's way down the street, with several other horses behind it.
On top of the other horses, there were more guards like the one that had shouted everyone to pretty much get out of the way.
And on the large, white horse - there was a single man... Or at least I think it was a man.
It definitely was human... Or somewhat human atleast. He was wearing pure white armour, that glittered in the sunlight and was complimented by gold and deep blue accents, as well as the colour black occasionally.
The armour looked bulky, and there wasn't a single trace of skin or what could be underneath the armour. Even the helmet - simply had a dark 'void' in its giant opening, that couldn't be pierced by even the sunlight.
'Who the fu-'
Analysis suggests that this group of people belong to the Holy Church.
Holy Church eh?
Wait— isn't the church like the biggest enemy any monster has in every isekai story? So should I be afraid.
Before I knew it, another person from the crowd, pulled me to the side as the horses began to pass by.
"Hey-!"
[Human Citizen] "Shh- stay quiet. We have to let them pass."
The person shushed me before looking back at the people on the horses.
Now that I was in the crowd, I could hear people gossip about the just arrived people - mostly about the dude at the very front on the large, white horse.
"Is that Harcone?" ; "It can't be.." ; "What is a Heavenly Knight doing here?"
Heavenly Knight?
Harcone?
Can anyone tell me, what any of this shit is?!
I looked back at the dude at the very front of all the horses, before attempting to appraise his stats using [Sages' Wisdom].
Appraisal failed.
The target has a skill blocking all appraisal skills.
I figured as much...
Well, I can't do anything about that. Would have been nice to know his deal tho.
Right as I looked away, the horses suddenly stopped, as the Holy Guards behind the front guy looked in confusion.
[Holy Guard 1] "Lord Harcone?"
The big, beefy guy that was on the white horse hopped off his mammal, before turning back towards my way and beginning to march towards me.
Warning;
Immense Magical Energy heading this way has been detected.
Wha-
Where—
Right as I turned to look for the source of the aforementioned Magical Energy, I was met with the same, white armoured, beefy knight - only this time he was pretty much right up in my face, staring me down.
'...What is he doing so close to me-'
Analysis suggests that he may have been warned about your attempt at viewing his status.
MOTHER OF- He has that?!
How was I supposed to know?!
I looked back up at the knight, as he let out a small fake cough.
[Harcone {One of The 5 Heavenly Knights}] "Excuse me, what is your name?"
He asked, his voice deep as hell - on a rough estimate, I'd say it's slightly less deep than Arabors voice.
I pretty much froze up for a second as he spoke, just wondering on what the hell was going to happen to me now.
'I fucked up... Didn't I?'
Yes.
Yes you did.
