CHAPTER ONE!

〔 Season one, episode one 〕

𝑪𝑨𝑺𝑺𝑨𝑵𝑫𝑹𝑨 𝑻𝑰𝑮𝑯𝑻𝑳𝒀 𝑯𝑬𝑳𝑫 𝑶𝑵𝑻𝑶 𝑯𝑬𝑹 𝑷𝑯𝑶𝑵𝑬, a sigh of relief leaving her lips as Madison Clark had just called her to let her know, Nick was in the hospital. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦. The nineteen year old quickly ran out of her room and down the stairs of her childhood home, her converses bouncing off the wooden floor - she was a bit tomboyish, she knew that, but she also knew she was very pretty. When Nick was clean he made sure she knew that every single day, never missing a beat. At least once a day he would call her beautiful or his pretty girl. Even when they where kids and nothing but friends

People called her crazy-𝑵𝒂𝒊𝒗𝒆, for sticking by him for so long, for believing in him. That he would get clean, that he would get pass his addiction but she knew he could and that he would, because she knew what kind of person he was, she had all the memories from when they were young. She couldn't forget them and she couldn't forget the way he made her feel. Her father tells her all the time, she was throwing her life away for him but in her mind he was her future. Because he wasn't just her boyfriend, he was her best friend and what kind of person gives up on their best friend

Cassandra grabbed the keys off the side,
Hoping her father wouldn't hear, she knew he would have something to say, her father was a very religious man and called Nick a waste of space and called his problem a sin, she hated it when she heard the way, her father talked about Nick, she didn't want to hear it right now. She understood that he was only trying to look out for her, especially since she was the last thing he had of her mother, a mother She never knew, since she died giving birth to her. But this was her life and Nick had been the center of it since they were twelve years old.

"Where are you going" Cassandra paused her hand resting on the door knob as she heard her father's voice

"Out" she replied shortly

"I asked where" Elijah questioned his daughter, making the brunette girl turn towards him, his dark brown eyes that we're a mirror to her own staring at her

"They found Nick and-"

"No" Elijah cut his daughter off, not even wanting to listen to the end of her sentence since it was involving that boy

"Dad" she complained

"That boy is nothing but trouble and he's going to drag you down with him" He sternly told his only daughter, his only child, his anger replacing his worry - Elijah Parker, had a quick temper something he wasn't proud of and it was especially quick when it came to protecting his daughter

"I don't care" Cassandra spoke, before opening the door, Elijah quickly made his way across the room grabbing ahold of the door before she could close it

"If you walk out that door don't come back because unlike Madison I won't watch my child throw her life away" Elijah stared into his daughters eyes, Cassandra held his stare, she fought back tears at the thought of her father kicking her out, of him giving her ultimatum

"Fine" she whispered anger and pain laced in her voice, she turned away from her father, running to her car.

"DON'T BE A NAIVE LITTLE GIRL" she heard her father shout across the yard,
She jumped into the drivers seat of her car and quickly wiped away the tears that were falling from her eyes, before placing the keys in the car and driving away from her house

She knew that she would probably make it to the hospital before the Clarks since her house was closer, she tightened her grip on the steering wheel as she got closer to it, she hoped Nick was alright. Madison hadn't really told her what happened over the phone but the girl was also worried about where she was going to sleep tonight. She knew Madison would never turn her away but she didn't want to burden her more, she was also worried because she had class in the morning and didn't think she could miss it. She took a deep breath as she turned into the hospital car park

She tugged at the sleeves of her blue hoodie as she walked into the reception

"Hey, I'm here to see Nick Clark" her soft voice brought the receptionist attention to her, she watched as the lady looked through the computer for information on him and once she found it, she watched the lady's eyebrows rise before looking Cassandra over with a look she was very familiar with, a look of being judge, a look telling her she could do so much better. A look of disgust.

"He's just round the corner, in the open room. You will see him. He was hit by a car but he's stable" the receptionist replied, Cassandra thanked her and started to go in the direction she told her but not before hearing her words

"She's the girlfriend of the druggie, they brought in, Poor girl, you would think she could do better"

"So much for being professional" Cassandra muttered under her breath,
Finally she could hear Nicks voice but he wasn't alone, and she knew it wasn't Madison or Alicia

She walked into the room and the moment she did Nick's eyes were glued to her, he smiled, his beautiful smile and she couldn't help but smile back. A part of Nick was relieved watching her walk in, he hadn't driven her away yet, he hadn't become a lost cause in her book yet, but he also felt guilty for all the shit he puts her through

"There she is, there's my girl" he said, making the officers turn in her direction as she walked further into the room

"Can we ask you to wait outside, while we continue our questions" they asked, Cassandra looked Nick over, his hands restrained to the bed. She noted they obviously thought he was a danger to himself or others, he looked okay for the most part, she could tell he was coming down off of a high. She could also tell they we're getting on his nerves

"Is he under arrest" the Parker girl asked

"No bu‐"

"Then let me save you some trouble" she looked at the officers. Her eyes meeting there's as she pointed to Nick "He isn't going to tell you anything and if he isn't under arrest, he still has rights and one of those rights is to ask for you to be removed. I mean no offence officer but I think he needs his rest and his mother will be here soon and trust me, you don't want to deal with her"

The officers stood dumbfounded, they didn't expect that from a girl who looked so small and timid. But not many people did and that was what made her perfect for being a lawyer or well what she was studying to be. Nick started to laugh, she never ceased to amaze him, once the officers left

"What took you so long?" Nick questioned trying to reach his hand out towards her to pull her closer but getting frustrated when he couldn't because of the restraints, Cassandra watched his fingers twitch towards her, she walked over to him placing her hand in his as she sat on the side of his bed

"Oh well you know traffic, it seemed a crazy boy decided to run in front of a car a few hours ago" she laughed, but Nick could see the worry in her eyes

"I'm okay" he whispered and that was all it took for Cassandra to fall forward burying her head in his chest wishing for nothing more for him to be able to hug her back, his hugs always made her feel better and she needed that now - she knew he was okay now, which made the realisation that she just walked away from the only family she had hit her.

And when Nick felt tears hit his chest, he knew it wasn't just about him. He pulled at his hands wanting to be able to comfort her but he soon came to the conclusion that he wouldn't be able to get out of them

"Hey, hey, baby, what's wrong?" Nick whispered, she pulled away shaking her head, finally connecting her eyes with his

"Nothing, I was just worried" Cassandra lied and even though Nick didn't believe her, he went along with it. He wanted to take her mind off of it, whatever it was.

"Smile for me" Nick asked, a dopey look on his face, Cassandra rolled her eyes, giving in to his request. Even after everything, they were still two teenagers still incredibly in love with each other but will they be when the world throws the next obstacle in there way, even when it's 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅.
