Ayanokouji Kiyotaka POV
After a few minutes, the first bell rang.
Almost at the same time, a woman wearing a suit walked into the classroom.
On first impression, she seems like a teacher who finds strict classroom discipline important. She looks about 30 years old. Her long hair was tied back into a ponytail.
"Ahem, Good Morning new students. My name is Chiyabashira Sae and I am in charge of class D this year. I teach Japanese history. This school doesn't rearrange the classes every year, so over the next three years, I hope I get to know all of you. Best regards. Although the entrance ceremony will be one hour from now in the gym, I will now distribute the list of special rules of this school and the matriculation guide."
From the front, the handouts were passed around.
When Kaneko was passing the handout to me, she turned back to me and smiled at me with her teeth showing.
It was a beautiful smile.
I hope I will be able to smile like that too some day.
I read through my handout.
At this school, there are special rules that make it different from every other high school. All students are required to live on campus, and are forbidden from contacting anyone outside the school.
Even contacting immediate family is impossible without the permission of the school.
Leaving school grounds is also forbidden.
However, there are also many other facilities so that students don't suffer from being restricted. There are karaokes, theater rooms, cafes, and even boutiques - you can say it made up a small town. And in the middle of the big city, the huge campus took up more than 600,000 square meters.
There's one more special characterstic of the school, though. The introduction of the S-System.
After giving an explanation of the S-System to the class, Chiyabashira-sensei looked around the room.
"It seems like no has any questions. Well then, please lead a good stude-"

Chiyabashira-sensei stopped what she was saying and looked around the classroom to find the source of her interruption.
Everyone in the class also started looking around.
Well, except for me.
I knew exactly where and from whom the sound had come.
While this was happening, I saw Kaneko start panicking.
Meow
Kaneko, now, for some reason, meowed.
Is she secretly a cat?
"Hahahahaha...it was just me. I was playing around. Sorry for the interruption sensei. Please continue what you were saying."
As she said this, her bag started ruffling and, because of the movement, fell over.
And lo and behold, a cat came bolting out of her bag and started running around the classroom, scared.
Everyone started screaming as the cat threw off people's stuff from their desks and started scratching the students while running around.
As this was happening, Kaneko also stood up and ran after the cat, all the while trying to comfort it.
Why is she even talking to it? We can already see just how much it's working.
There was chaos all around the room.
But then, suddenly, everything came to a standstill.
Wait, what happened?
I was too busy looking around the room and didn't see what had happened, but now that I did, I can see why it seemed like the pause button had been pressed.
The cat was now on Chiyabashira-sensei's face.
It had somehow stuck its nails into sensei's hair and was now sprawled on sensei's face.
I don't even want to know what's gonna happen next.
And then, Chiyabashira-sensei screamed.
And the chaos started again.
"GET THIS THING OUT OF HERE!!!"
Kaneko ran to the door of the classroom and opened it. The cat saw its chance and bolted from its position where it had been perched on Chiyabashira-sensei's head.
Finally, things started calming down.
But I guess, that was just the calm before another storm started again.
"KANEKO SUMIRE!!! 30,000 POINTS DEDUCTED FROM YOU!!!"
Wait, can teachers do that? Or is this an improvised punishment because sensei was angry?
I turned my head around and was surprised to see that my neighbor also had a bewildered look on her face instead of a stern one or even a smiley one because Kaneko got punished.
It seems like this was too much for her to process in this short amount of time.
And not just her, everyone was now looking at Kaneko.
She smiled hesitantly while sweating.
"I'm sorry?"
Chiyabashira-sensei glared at her and stalked out of the room in anger.
Kaneko looked at the students.
It seems like an explanation is coming.
"I am really sorry guys. Before coming to class, I saw that kitten. It was trembling because of the cold, okay? I had no other choice! I was thinking of feeding it after homeroom but this happened. I am really really sorry."
After this explanation, most of the students had calmed down and some were even looking fondly at her.
Is it easier to make friends if you like animals? Well, I guess I will have to find that cat to try it later.
Hopefully, it will not make that much chaos then.
If it did, I don't think people will look fondly at me like they are looking at Kaneko.
"It's okay. You just wanted to take care of that kitten."
"And you already got punished for it. 30,000 points? Yikes!"
"Yeah! At least this incident will make our first day of high school memorable."
"Well, that's for sure."
I also agree.
This sure will be memorable.
It was a great way to start our high school lives after all.
Everyone started to pick up their stuff from the ground.
Kaneko helped them.
Thankfully, the cat didn't really come to the back of the classroom.
I saw that, while Kaneko was helping the others students, people were starting to approve of her. Maybe she already became friends with some of them.
I learned from her example and turned to look at my neighbor.
Her book, that she was reading, had fallen down in the chaos and Horikita hadn't noticed because she was still looking at Kaneko.
"Here."
I picked up her book and called for her attention.
She snatched the book from my hands.
"Don't touch my things."
I turned around and saw Kaneko helping the others while they were smiling at her. Boys were blushing at her.
Turned around again and saw Horikita glaring at me.
I don't like this discrimination.
Kaneko, please do something about Horikita. She is scaring me.
After everything was done, a student who had the air of a young man raised his hand and spoke.
"Everyone, now that's done with, can you guys listen to me for a bit?"
His hair was not dyed and he looked like an honors student. He didn't look like a delinquent either.
"Starting from today, we will be in the same class for the next three years. And after what happened, I don't think there is any awkwardness left, so, it would be great if all of us could introduce ourselves and become friends. We still have time until the entrance ceremony, so what do you think?"
