hyein closed her notebook, finally done with the work that the teacher had assigned earlier during that period. she glanced over at jisung, the boy working on the last two problems.
"should i go ask if i could call renjun?" she asked, looking at jisung. jisung looked up from his workbook, glancing at the teacher.
"yea why not. you already finished so she has no reason to say no." hyein nods, standing up and walking over to her teachers desk.
"can i please step out of the room really quick? i have to make an important phone call." hyein said, begging the teacher to let her make the call.
the group of students were waiting for their peers to finish, wanting to take the practice test that their teacher was going to give them when they finished the worksheets.
"is it that important?" jisung glanced at hyein and their teacher, the girl nodding, slamming her hands together in a begging way.
"my older brother is leaving the continent and i won't see him for another two years." the teachers shoulders dropped, ms. kim patting the girl on the head.
"go ahead." hyein rushed to her desk, grabbing her phone, and out the door she went.
jisung glanced at ms, kim, their english teacher already looking at him. she nodded as well, smiling at the youngest park. he got up, making his way to the classroom door, and exiting, making sure to make minimal noise.
"do you think he's gonna answer? he's not on the plane yet right? it's only 2:44 there's no way." hyein was pacing back and forth in the empty hallway, jisung watching her.
"he's gonna answer, if you had checked the group chat at all you would've seen him saying he's at his grandmas house right now." hyein stopped pacing, looking at jisung.
"what if he doesn't come back?" jisung sighs, cautiously grabbing hyein by the shoulders. her breathe slowed down, the two staring at each other.
it was really quiet in the hallway, seeing as it was the middle of 5th period, "renjun loves it here. once he's done he'll come back. and then it'll be fine."
hyein's lips quivered, jisung slowly pulling her into a hug, "it'll be fine hyein. he's not leaving forever. he's gonna text you everyday, okay?" jisung softly patted the girls head, holding her in his arms. he made sure not to squish her, the two staying close.
her phone started to buzz, the girl pulling away from him, checking to see who it was. "renjun!" she put him on speaker, jisung staying in front of hyein to listen.
"hey, make sure to stay good okay? i'll call and text you every night. and in the morning. make sure to go to every single class. i don't wanna hear from jieun that your skipping again." hyein scoffs, pulling the phone closer to her mouth.
"i was so close to tears and all you can do is reprimand me." jisung heard renjun laugh over the phone, also hearing haechan and his sister.
"you guys are so mean!!" hyein said, the pout evident on her face. jisung smiled at her reaction, hyein continuing to argue with renjun.
"also jisung, when i come back you better be at snu. not ncu. doing dance at snu, okay?" jisung, visibly confused, grabbed hyein's phone.
"how'd you know i was here? i wasn't even talking." jisung said, staring at renjun's called id. hyein had him named as 'renjun 🦊'.
"i heard you breathing. also when are you not by hyein." jisung nods, handing the phone back to hyein.
"renjun im gonna miss you so much. i can't believe you're leaving me." renjun sighed, talking directly into his phone.
"i'd never leave you. you're the baby sister i never asked for." hyein scoffed, almost wanting to hang up the phone, but she didn't. she was too scared that renjun might forget her.
hyein was scared that the person who acted more like her older brother than her own brother was gonna forget about her. "i'll call you guys when were at the airport, okay?"
