Chapter 4 - An unlikely alliance

(Y/n) wakes up to his alarm clock blaring into his ears. (Y/n) turns off his alarm as he opens his eyes and jumps up in surprise as he sees Chara floating above him.
"Were you watching me sleep?!" (Y/n) yelled "And how are you floating!?"
"One, Yes and no, I was merely waiting for you to wake up." Chara stated "and two, I have the ability to float as I have not gained a physical body, yet."
"What do you mean waiting for me to wake up? I'm surprised you didn't just wake me up like that one night" (Y/n) stated "Anyways don't follow me just stay in here I have business to do"
As (Y/n) said that he grabbed a pair of clothes and went into the hall bathroom, He did his daily routine and then got out. He jumped back as he saw chara just waiting right outside the door.
"Hey I said don't follow me!" (Y/n) whispered hoping his grandpa didn't hear "Anyways, can anyone else see or hear you?"
"Other people, monsters and humans alike, cannot see or hear me." Chara stated
"Good, anyways how much magic do you need to sustain this form?" (Y/n) asked
"Not much, you probably won't even notice" Chara stated
"Alright well just keep me company I guess until I finish the school day" (Y/n) said "Also wait you can be like an extra pair of eyes for me! you can tell me if like frisk or (F/n) are about to scare me!"
"Y-Yep!" Chara stated immediately becoming nervous upon hearing the name frisk "I can do t-that"
"Are you nervous?" (Y/n) asked "If you want I can just not talk with them today"
"Absolutely not, and please" Chara said
"Oka-" (Y/n) said but was cut off
"Hey bud you okay? you've been standing in the hall for a while!" (Y/n)'s grandpa said
"Yeah i'm fine! I'll just go to school and eat my breakfast there!" (Y/n) said as he grabbed his backpack and sped walk to the door "Bye gramps! See ya after school!"
"Bye bud!" He replied
(Y/n) set foot outside, and started to sprint towards school. He starts to sprint feeling much less fatigue than he used to when running.
"Hey chara, do you know why i'm not getting tired?" (Y/n) asked
"Well mainly due to your magic I would bet. and if it is, It's by most odds increased your endurance, strength, and judgement of others" Chara said as she floated behind you
"Oh really? that's cool!" (Y/n) said as he sped up catching up to (F/n)
"Hey (Y/n)! Where were you!" (F/n) said
"Oh hey bro! Uhhh I woke up late! Anyways I have something I need from my 6th period teacher I'll talk to you later!" (Y/n) said as he sped walked into the school hoping (F/n) bought the lie
"Wait. I have an idea! Chara can you interact with things that aren't corporeal?" (Y/n) asked
"Uhh, yeah, why do you a-" Chara said but cut herself off "I know what you want to do, let me guess pull the fire alarm?"
"Nope i'm gonna need you to change my grades in my classes" (Y/n) said
"Wait, so you can think of that, but you can't do your homework?" Chara said with a snarky tone
"Wow, that hurt ya know!" (Y/n) said as he entered his first period early and sat down in his seat "Uhh, by the way, I sit right next to frisk... I forgot to mention that so if you want you can hang out outside the classroom."
"Wait you sit next to her?!" Chara said surprised "I-Ill uhm sit outside the classroom"
"Alright she'll probably come in soon so just go through the wall I guess?" (Y/n) said
"Okay, anyways how long are the periods at this school?" Chara asked
"50 minutes" (Y/n) replied
Chara looked at (Y/n) and just sighed heavily as she saw frisk. She went through the wall not looking back.
Frisks P.O.V
"Hey (Y/n)!" Frisk said as she noticed he's more nervous than usual "Something the matter?"
"Oh uhhh, not really!" (Y/n) replied "Why do you ask?"
"Oh no reason, you just seem a bit more tense than usual!" Frisk said
"Oh yeah i'm just tired from yesterday!" (Y/n) said as an awkward silence fell upon both of them
*timeskip to after school because (Y/n) really only interacted with chara at school brought to you by Chibi Inky procrastinating*
(Y/N)'s P.o.V
The bell rings as (Y/n) grabs his stuff and leaves the classroom. as he leaves the classroom he sees frisk and puts his hoodie on.
"Hey chara we may wanna hurry it up or go somewhere else" (Y/n) said
"Why's that?" Chara asked
"Don't worry about it just trust me, I have a feeling something bad may happen" (Y/n) says as he starts to rush through the crowd of students in the hallway
As (Y/n) makes it to the gate he sees (F/n) he hides in his hoodie and blends in with the crowd and exits the gates.
"Phew that was close" (Y/n) said
"Hmm?" chara hummed
"Oh (F/n) almost saw me" (Y/n) said
"Ah, ok, anyways what do you want to improve on with your magic?" Chara asked
"Uhhh I want to be able to keep the weapons I create around without focusing on it!" (Y/n) says as he feels something touch his back.
(Y/n) turns his head around his gun being summoned in his hand at the same time. He notices it's only (F/n).
"(F/n) I told you not to scare me like that!" (Y/n) says nervously
"Well then don't leave me at the school gates! I was waiting for you!" (F/n) says with an annoyed tone
"Oh, I didn't see you!" (Y/n) lied
"Bro your fucking blind then" (F/n) says
"Anyways i'm gonna practice my magic on my own today! I'll text you if I find out something cool or if I can create the sniper!" (Y/n) says as he starts to jog to his house "Bro he scared the shit outta me, why didn't you say anything!"
"I was bored and it was gonna be funny" Chara said
"Your a dick, you know that, right?" (Y/n) said
"Yep! anyways your about to pass your house" Chara said
"Oop" (Y/n) said as he walked to his front door "Thanks"
"No problem partner" Chara said
"Anyways how would I go about being able to keep my weapons from disappearing while not focusing on them much?" (Y/n) asked as he opened the door and put his backpack in his room.
"Well, the best way to do that is to keep the weapon summoned and try and keep it there for as long as possible. But you want to create more powerful weapons no?" Chara asked
"Yep! Well that's gonna take a while but with a sniper rifle you don't have to worry about keeping it summoned but with an A.R. you have to" Chara said "I would recommend for you to first learn how to summon a sniper and then once you can do that try keeping the A.R summoned as it would make you be able to summon it without thinking about it"
"Okay so basically, learn how to summon Sniper, then summon the A.R for extended periods of time?" (Y/n) said
"Yes exactly" Chara said
"So what would be the first step to summoning the sniper?" (Y/n) asked as they went out the back door
"Alright so put one of your hands near your shoulder and the other in front" Chara says as (Y/n) closes his eyes and follows her instructions "Now put magic in your right hand and form it into the first half of the sniper, then in your left hand put magic into it and form it into the other half."
As chara says that (Y/n) feels a weight on his shoulder and a weight on his hands.
"Okay, so you feel that weight right?" chara says
"Yes" (Y/n) replied
"Okay good, now focus magic into where you assume the middle of the gun is and make the parts connect"
As chara says this (Y/n) does as she says and he feels the guns parts connect. As he feels that he notices the weight of the magic sniper has almost tripled causing him to almost fall. (Y/n) loses focus and the sniper disappears.
"Wait it worked! but I almost fell with the sniper" (Y/n) said
"Yep I mean it's gonna be heavy its a fucking sniper" Chara said
"Fair point" (Y/n) says as he tries it again prepared for the weight of the sniper this time
"Wow you did it without my help this time, nice" Chara said as he created it and then made it disappear
"Well now I just need to work on the A.R and then I can be sure that i'm ready for a fight if I ever need to" (Y/n) says
(A/n):"Foreshadowing, cough cough"
"Yep, I mean I hope you don't get into any fight but having a assault rifle would help" Chara said "Maybe you can work on a shotgun for close range fights"
"That would be smart but that's for another day, i'm gonna eat dinner and head to bed after practicing with the sniper a bit"
As (Y/n) said that he went into the house and ate dinner with his grandpa. After he ate dinner he brushed his teeth and went into the backyard again.
"Alright now time to test the sniper"
(Y/n) summoned the sniper after about 10 seconds and aims it at a branch on the tree. He takes his time lining it up and after another 10 seconds he focuses energy in the chamber and pulls the trigger. The bullet makes a whistling sound as it flies through the branch and (Y/n) loses focus. The sniper disappears as (Y/n) falls back from the recoil.
"Damn that was pretty cool" (Y/n) said as he gets back up "and also pretty tiring"
"Well makes sense its a fucking sniper, its gonna take a lot of magic to use it" Chara said
"Yeah well im gonna sleep now, I'll probably knock out in like a minute" (Y/n) said
"Okay I'll try to sleep but after being dead for so long it's gonna take a while to regain physical needs such as sleep"
As chara said that (Y/n) started to head into his room because the window should be fixed. He walks into his room and sits down on his bed.
"So where are you gonna sleep?" (Y/n) asked
"Uhm, I was gonna sleep on the bed in the guest room that you guys have" chara said
"Oh alright im gonna head to bed now so if you wanna go to bed now you can" (Y/n) said
"Oh, okay, night partner"
Chara said as she floated through the wall into the next room. After she was gone (Y/n) layed down on his bed as he let his drowsiness take him to the land of dreams.
