She exists
within the cracks
of every dream she has lost,
lingering upon the detritus
of every bridge
she's tried to cross
(and incinerated)
for some things
don't deserve to remain,
and there is always the danger
of treading the
same paths again,
a hopeless journey
that she will no longer entertain,
for happiness
is not an emotion
we should ever have to feign.
