I shoot the basketball and it bounces off the rim.
"Fuck." I mumble picking the ball up.
I haven't spoken to Hailee in 2 days, since she basically broke up with me. She's called me a few times but I haven't answered.
And I fucking suck at basketball now.
I hear the doorbell ring and I out the basketball down. I walk through the sliding doors and go into the house. I walk to the front door and open it.
"Can we talk?" Hailee asks.
"What are you doing here?" I ask.
"You've been ignoring my calls for the past 2 days, I've been worried about you." Hailee says.
"Well, I'm fine. Just fucking fine. Been living my life by myself for the past 32 years, I'm just fine." I say.
"Y/n-" Hailee says.
"I don't even know why you care. You're the one who told me to go fuck myself." I say.
"Can you just shut up and listen for a minute?!" Hailee asks.
"I've been in plenty of bad relationships so when someone told me you were cheating, I ran with it." Hailee says.
"Who said that?" I ask.
"Doesn't matter." She says.
"Yes, it does!" I say.
"Ethan." She says.
"Ethan? Your manager, Ethan?" I ask.
"Yes." She says.
Next time I hear from Ethan, I'm gonna let him have it.
"I'm sorry." She says.
"Hailee, you're the first woman I've ever truly loved. No other woman had made me feel the way you do. I would never do something like that." I say.
She smiles and nods. She kisses me and I smile.
"What do you think I should do about Ethan? Should I fire him?" She asks.
"No, no, no. He's a businessman. I get it, I guess. Don't worry about him." I say.
I'll handle him.
Time Skip
"Y/n, wonderful to see you." Ethan says as I walk in his office.
"Taking me up on my offer?" Ethan asks as I walk over to his desk.
I slap Ethan and he rubs his cheek.
"Ow!" Ethan says.
"You told Hailee I was cheating on her?!" I ask.
"How do you know-" Ethan asks.
"Does it fucking matter?! Why are you trying to ruin a good thing for me?" I ask.
"We had a deal." Ethan says.
"What fucking deal? You dragged me into this shit and now you want me to just walk away from the only person who's ever given a shit about me?" I ask.
"Well, yes." Ethan says.
"Go fuck yourself. You're fired." I say.
"Fired?!" Ethan asks.
"Fired. F-I-R-E-D." I say.
"You can't fire me." He says.
"I just did." I say.
"You'll regret this. You don't think I'll tell Hailee?" He says.
"No, I don't. There's no way to explain this entire thing without lighting yourself on fire too. And she's your cash cow, you don't wanna lose her." I say.
I walk out and slam the door shut.
Time Skip
"So after this game, when's your next one?" Hailee asks.
"A week." I say shooting the ball into the net.
"Why?" I ask picking the ball up.
"I was thinking we could get away for a little while. Like 4-5 days." Hailee says.
"Okay, where do you wanna go?" I ask.
"Always wanted to go to Italy." Hailee says.
"Okay, book it and let me know. You want my card?" I say.
"My treat." Hailee says.
I smile and nod.
"Hey, Y/l/n." Madison says walking in.
"See you two made up." Madison says.
"Mhm." I say.
"In more ways than one." Hailee says.
"Damn, okay. I see you." Madison says as Hailee giggles.
"They're letting a reporter in to interview you." Madison says.
"Who?" Y/n asks.
"Chloe Sidesurf." Madison says.
"Oh." Y/n says as Madison walks away.
"You okay?" I ask.
"I kinda... dated her for on and off for a year in secret." Y/n says.
"You dated Chloe Sidesurf?" I asks.
"Yes, it was probably my most serious relationship aside from ours." She says.
"Oh, you've got a type." I say.
"What? No, I don't." She says.
"Me and her are damn near twins. Same hair and eye color." I say.
"It's just a coincidence." She says.
"Whatever floats your boat." I say.
The doors open and Chloe comes in with a cameraman.
"Nice to see you again, Y/n." Chloe says.
Y/n nods and Chloe hugs her. I squint my eyes and Y/n holds her hands up.
"We rolling?" Chloe asks.
"3, 2, 1." The cameraman says.
"I'm here with Y/n Y/l/n, a player for the Aces. How are you feeling about tonight's game?" Chloe says.
"Confident." Y/n says.
"I'm sure you are." Chloe says, smirking.
Is this bitch seriously flirting with Y/n while I'm 3 feet away?
Y/n clears her throat and Chloe smiles.
"You guys took a pretty big loss against the Sparks the other day. What's up with that?" Chloe says.
"My head just wasn't in the game." Y/n says.
"Your head was just in so many other places, huh?" Chloe asks.
"Uh, yeah." Y/n says, as Chloe stares at her.
"If you win, how will you celebrate tonight?" She says.
"We are gonna win, I've got a lucky charm attending tonight. And me and her are gonna celebrate by getting dinner." Y/n says.
"Mm." Chloe says, annoyed.
"Well, good luck to you guys." Chloe says.
"Thank you." Y/n says.
"I'm Chloe Sidesurf with Sidesurf News." Chloe says, smiling at the camera.
"We done here?" Y/n asks.
"Yes." Chloe says.
Y/n walks away and Chloe rolls her eyes.
"Looks like someone still has a crush on you." I say as Y/n sits beside me.
"She's so fucking strange." Y/n says.
"I dunno, I'd be acting like that too if I lost you." I say.
Y/n smiles and I kiss her cheek.
