Gracies POV (7 Years Old)

"Rise and shine sunshine" Jay announced as he walked in to my bedroom and turned the light on.

"Urgh" I groaned as I turned to hide my face in my pillow "five more minutes" I said in to my pillow.

"No can do kiddo" Jay denied before pulling the covers from on top of me "c'mon, up and at em" he repeated.

"Ohhh" I groaned as I pulled my knees up to my chest in a bid to keep some of the warmth that had now been stripped away from me "I don't wanna go to school" I complained.

"It's school Gracie, nobody wants to go" he replied "now get out of bed" he ordered but I shook my head silently "one" he began to count making my groans increase "two" he continued as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"Urgh, fine!" I exclaimed before sitting up and reluctantly climbing out of my bed "happy now?" I asked making him raise an unimpressed eyebrow at me.

"Sit yourself back down" he demanded and I quickly did as I was told.

"Stand up sit down, god make your mind up" I huffed.

"Let's not start the day off like this. Drop the attitude and change the tone" he warned.

"Yes sir" I mumbled "can I go get breakfast now" I sighed and he nodded.

"Go on" he said.

With a heavy sigh I walked down the hall and towards the kitchen.

"Morning sweetie" Will greeted with a smile.

"Will, I don't feel good" I whined as I put on my best puppy dog eyes.

"What do you mean?" He frowned in concern "c'mere" he instructed before putting his hand on my forehead.

"My tummy hurts" I lied.

"Well you don't feel warm" he commented "why don't you have some breakfast and see how you feel after that" he suggested and I nodded with fake sadness.

Will made me some scrambled eggs and I slowly cleared my plate, continuing the poorly act.

"How do you feel now?" Will asked as he took my plate from in front of me.

"My tummy still hurts" I whined "I don't think I can go to school" I added.

"Are you sure this isn't just you trying to get a day off school?" He questioned sceptically.

"Day off school?" Jay asked as he walked in and poured himself a cup of coffee "I already told you Gracelyn, you are going to school" he reminded firmly.

"She says she has stomach ache" Will informed making Jay scoff in amusement.

"Yeah, and I've grown koala feet" he said sarcastically.

"It's true" I stomped my feet. I can't believe they aren't falling for my lie!

"Have you had breakfast?" He asked, ignoring my previous foot stomp.

"Yes" I mumbled through my frown.

"Then you have twenty minutes to go get ready for school before you're gonna be back here, bag in hand and shoes on, ready to leave" he said firmly.

"NO!" I screamed, stomping my foot once again "I don't wanna go" I repeated frustratedly.

"You are going to school Gracelyn" Jay snapped "wether you go with a sore butt is your choice, but either way, you're going" he lectured.

"That's not fair" I cried with an annoyed frown "I said I don't feel good" I lied once again.

"Well you seem to feel good enough to be throwing a tantrum" Will said matter of factly.

"I'm NOT throwing a tantrum!" I screeched furiously.

"Go get ready for school Gracelyn" Will said, indicating that he was now done with the conversation.

"I wanna stay home" I stomped.

"Don't we all" Jay commented "but it's still not gonna happen" he added "now are you gonna go and get dressed or am I gonna have to do it for you?" He questioned.

"Neither" I grumbled making Jay sigh frustratedly.

"Right, fine" he snapped "have it your way" he shrugged before walking over to me and picking me up, carrying me back towards my bedroom.

"Stop!" I squealed as I straightened my body in a bid to escape from my older brothers hold. He ignored my pleas and carried me in to my room before standing me on the floor by my bed.

"Don't move" he warned before walking over to my closet and grabbing me a dress and a pair of leggings "you've got two minutes to get dressed before I dress you myself" he said before walking out of my room.

I reluctantly took my pj's off and pulled the dress over my head, having zero intention of putting the leggings on.

"You need to put the leggings on Gracie" Jay said once he had walked back in to my room.

"I don't wanna" I frowned.

"It's cold outside kiddo" Jay sighed "if you don't want to wear these then you need to put tights on" he explained.

"Neither" I stated.

I watched as Jay closed his eyes and took a deep breath before picking up the leggings.

"Sit down" he ordered.

"No, you're being mean" I stated. Jay didn't reply. He simply picked me up and sat me down on the bed behind me.

"You're making this ten times more difficult than it needs to be Gracelyn" he said as he put my legs in to the purple leggings and pulled me to stand up. He silently took my hand and we walked over to the bathroom where he stood behind me at the sink and put some toothpaste on my tooth brush. "Here" he said holding it out for me to take.

"Na uh" I shook my head making Jay sigh for the thousandth time.

"Am I gonna have to do everything this morning?" He questioned and sighed once again when he got no response. "Open" he instructed and I slightly parted my mouth so he could brush my teeth. He gently, yet purposefully, brushed my teeth before instructing me to spit. "Right, go to Will and he'll do your hair" he instructed as he handed me my hairbrush and some hair ties.

I grumbled all the way back to the kitchen where Will was just finishing up the dishes.

"Go sit down" he said gesturing to the sofa as he dried his hands on a towel.

"Why do I have to go to school?" I asked as Will began to brush the knots out of my hair.

"Because it's the law" he replied, beginning to braid my hair in to two pigtails. "You'll have fun once you get there Gracie" he assured.

"But I don't wanna go" I complained as he secured the last braid.

"I'm not arguing with you again Gracie" he replied simply "go get your shoes on" he instructed.

"Pleaseeeee" I pleaded in frustration.

"Gracie" he snapped "go and put your shoes on" he suggested.

"Gracelyn Halstead" Jays voice shouted from another room "I can hear you arguing and if I come in there and you aren't at least putting your shoes on you're gonna be in big trouble" he warned.

"Fine!" I screeched before storming off to find my shoes and bending down to put them on "OW!" I squealed, bolting upright when I felt a sharp smack on my behind "that's not fair. You said to put my shoes on and I am!" I exclaimed to Jay who was now stood in front of me looking less than impressed.

"Just hurry up and get on with it" he sighed, ignoring my tears.

After a lot more complaining I was eventually wrangled out of the front door and in to Jays truck.

Lunch time

I can't believe they still sent me to school. It's the weekend tomorrow! It's not like missing one day would kill me. Maybe I could convince the teacher to send me home. She's a substitute so she doesn't really care anyway.

"Miss" I put my hand up "I don't feel very well" I said once she had walked over to me.

"Go to the nurse hunny, I'll write you a note now" she said before turning back to her desk and writing the note. Yes! I can't believe that worked.

And that's how I found myself sat in front of the nurses desk as she waited for Jay to answer the phone.

"Hello is this Jay Halstead?" She asked when he eventually answered "I have your sister Gracie here with me as she's been sent down to my office after she was complaining about feeling unwell. I was wondering if you would be able to come by and collect her?" She explained. Yes! This is so much easier than I thought it would be. "He would like to speak to you" she said as she held the phone out for me to take. Huh?! This doesn't usually happen!

"Hello?" I asked once I had reluctantly taken the phone.

"What's the matter with you?" He asked suspiciously.

"I don't feel very well" I said in my best sad voice.

"If I come get you and I find out your lying to me Gracelyn you are going to be in big trouble" he warned "now I'm going to ask you again. Are you lying to me?" He challenged.

"No" I said in a slightly less confident tone.

"I wear you better be sick" he exclaimed "put the nurse back on" he demanded.

Maybe this wasn't such a bright idea after all I thought as I waited for my brother to come pick me up. He doesn't know I'm lying. How can he possibly know?

I continued up with the poorly act and twenty minutes later the nurse said we had to meet Jay at the front desk where he was signing me out. I slipped my coat on and grabbed my backpack before following the nurse out of her office and over to the reception desk.

"Here we are" the nurse announced as she pushed my gently towards my brother "now she's had some water but I recommend giving her some Tylenol when you get home just in case it is the start of something" she said and Jay shot me a disbelieving look before smiling politely at the older nurse.

"I will do, thank you" Jay said as he took my backpack from me "let's go" he instructed firmly before steering me out of the building and towards his truck.

"So" he said once we where both inside his truck "what's wrong with you?" He questioned.

"I have tummy ache" I lied.

"Tummy ache?" He quirked an eyebrow "if you're gonna lie to me Gracie at least put some effort in to it" he added.

"I'm not!" I exclaimed in frustration.

"Fine" he began to drive "well if you're feeling as ill as you say you are we best go straight to med so Will can check you over" he said making my eyes widen.

"Noooo!" I exclaimed.

"So you're not sick?" Jay interrogated.

"I am!" I screeched.

"Then we're going to see Will" he shrugged "and if you're really sick you won't feel like arguing with me right now" he added making me sigh in defeat.

"You don't need to tell Will!" I mumbled.

"What was that?" He asked.

"You don't need to tell Will" I repeated a little louder.

"And why is that?" He asked expectantly.

"Because I'm not really sick" I finally admitted.

"So you lied" He stated and I nodded silently "I don't want to hear another word from you until we get home, do you understand me?" He asked.

"Yes sir" I sighed.

We eventually arrived home and we walked silently up the stairs and in to our apartment.

"Sit down" Jay instructed "do you wanna explain to me why you thought it would be okay to lie?" He asked.

"Because I already said I didn't wanna go to school this morning and you sent me anyway" I explained with a frown.

"Because it's the law Gracie" he snapped "do you really think me and Will don't wake up sometimes and not wanna go to work? Because we do. But we still have to get up and go" he lectured "I understand that you didn't wanna go but that still doesn't excuse lying about being sick to get sent home" he continued "I had to leave a really important case to come and collect you and then take the rest of the day off to look after you" he said making me feel guilty.

""M sorry" I said truthfully.

"It's not okay to lie Gracie and you know that" he said "If you keep lying like this then no one is gonna believe you when you really are sick. Do you want that?" He asked and I shook my head.

"No" I admitted.

"Go to your room and I'll be there in a minute" he instructed and with a heavy sigh I trudged my way in to my bedroom.

I sat on my bed nervously playing with my fingers for ten minutes before Jay walked in.

"Up you get" he instructed before sitting down on the edge of my bed and pulling me to stand in front of him "do you understand why you're being punished?" He asked and I silently nodded "tell me" he prompted.

"Because I lied about being sick to come home from school" I explained and he nodded in confirmation.

"Okay" he sighed "then let's get this over with" he added before lifting me up and pulling me pace first across his knee. He wasted no time in bringing his had down on my upturned bottom making me wriggle around in discomfort.

"OW!" I exclaimed as the swats continued "'m sorry" I sobbed. Eventually the spanking ended and Jay lifted me up so I was once again stood in front of him. "I'm sorry" I cried as he reached forward and wiped my tears away with his thumb.

"C'mere" he said before pulling me close to his chest and rubbing soothing circles on my back.

"I'm really really sorry" I cried in to his chest.

"Shhhh" he hushed "it's over now" he assured "let's learn from this lesson though Gracie, ok?" He asked and I nodded in agreement.

"I love you" I said as he lent down and kissed the top of my head.

"I love you to sweetheart" he replied.

AN! I hope everyone enjoyed! As always all of your votes and comments are greatly appreciated!

Did Jay handle this well?

Did Will handle her pre school tantrum well?

Requests remain open I just don't guarantee to do them!
