— hey- Akira! I told you not to grab your uncle's neckace! You're gonna break it! —
— c'mon sis, let the girl have fun! That thing survived Akihiko's brutal attacks, what's the chance a little girl like her's gon' break it? —
— god- it's your fault she doesn't listen to me! You spoil her too much! —

I remember I saw my uncle laugh at my mom's words.

I don't have many memories from my childhood before my six years, I only remember people dressed in black and standing in front of a big box, watching it in silence. This is one of the few fun memories I have from then.

The other memory I treasure from my childhood is the tale my uncle told me once. He was about to put me to bed, and I asked him to tell me a story to sleep.

________________

— oy oy, alright, i'll tell you something original and cool now, not one of those "sleeping beauty" things. —
— but I like seepin' beaudy. —
— you missed the L again. Well anyway- let me start now 'kay? —
— aight. —

— good. Now, this story begins waaaaay before our age, around 200 years ago. — he moved his hands to signal something long. I guess the time that passed. — you see, that's the time where quirks first appeared. A glowing baby was born in China, and since that moment, a bunch of people started developing quirks, apparently out of nowhere. — in his hand, a little woman appeared, playing with floating water. — but it didn't only bring water of fire quirks, there was a varety of them, just like how it is now. — he looked at me, his happy face gone, which was rare in him.

— you see, Aki, in this generation was born a man with the power to take and grant quirks. Nobody knew his real name, but everyone called him "All for one". He was the one with the most powerful quirk known, and everyone feared him. —
— I don' 'ike 'im, soun's mean. — he laughed.
— he is very mean! Anyway, he had evil plans, he wanted to take over the world! But his younger brother knew that what he was doing was bad, so he decided to stop him! — in his hands, two men with white hair appeared. The tallest one had an evil smile on his face, and the shortest one a frown. — but the little brother was quirkless, so he couldn't fight him, he needed help from another people. — he finally smiled again.

— that's when our grand grand grand- uh, a lot of grands mother created this necklace! — The little figures dissapeared and he grabbed the necklace on his neck to show me — the brother asked our grandma for her help, since her quirk was incredibly powerful too- she could create objects out of her blood! —

— her bood? That souns scawy. —

— Oh i'm sure it wasn't so bad- anyway! Unlike you and me, she could make her creations permanent and almost indestructible, and she used some of his friends' quirks to add some things to this necklace! Kind of like magic. — he played around with the little gem as he talked. — grandma helped the brother fight All for one, but he was too powerful, and he enthrusted the mission of protecting the world from the bad guy to another friend. —

— oh? Bu' wha' happned to 'im and gama? —

— oh well, uh, I really don't know, but i' ll tell ya if I figure it out Aki. So! The necklace is something only us, as Kanrojis, can wear and know about, so don't tell about this to anyone! — I remember I giggled. — the uh, bad guy has been defeated a while ago, so don't you worry about having to help defend the world from such a scary guy! — he patted my head. — just make the world a prettier place with your cute flowers eh? I'm sure everyone would like that. —

He fixed my bed to sleep and kissed my forehead goodnight. He was like a big brother to me, since I had been born when he was still a young teen.

I remember feeling the tiredness in my eyes and see my uncle's smile turn to a frown, he muttered something I can't remember, or I can't figure out what he said.

I just remember he said it would end with him.

My dear uncle Aike.

Funerals. Funerals were something that commonly happened in my family. We had the tradition to give the new children born in the family the last name "Kanroji", no matter if it was the mother or the father the one who possesed it legally. Because of this, our family had many members, and each of them had similar quirks, those related with creations.

But alright, let me explain a little. My quirk is called artistic objects, and it means that I can being to real life any object (or person) that I draw, for example, a unicorn. The drawback was that each object I created, made me feel sleepy, the more I did, the more tired I was, until I would completely black out. I could sleep for a full day or even weeks, and some of my family didn't woke up after over using their quirk.

So, with the easy way to die, and the numerous members we were, it's only logical there would be a lot of funerals. It was never something that hit me so hard, y'know? You sleep a bit too much, you die. Simple. I also mostly never knew the people that were being buried, so I didn't care.

Or that's how it was until it was my uncle Aike's funeral.

It was funny, it was a rainy day the moment we had to bury him. The police said they had found him already dead on his bed, just a few hours later that his neighbor called since there could be heard screams of pain, but there was no injury in his body, at least not one of a homocide or suicide. I shouldn't have known that, but I overheard my parents question it.

They said that it must've been a death like most of them have had, sleeping too much. But something didn't fit for me, he wasn't the lazy type to sleep too much, and he didn't use his quirk so often. Nothing was making sense to me.

Kirishima, my best friend since diapers, had come to support me. He had also been friends with uncle Aike, since he would take me to the park and let me play with my friend. He also felt bad, and felt the need to say goodbye.

I remember it all clearly, I was standing the closest to his coffin, a little glass window letting me see his pale resting face. The dirt slowly starting to cover him, just like how the drops of water felt on my shoulders. Everyone was in silence, except for those that were sobbing or sniffing. I don't remember if it was rain or my tears the ones that ran down my face, but something liquid was. After minutes that felt like hours, he had finally been hidden from the world twelve feet underground, and was bound to rest for eternity.

When everyone had started leaving, I looked up from the ground. Nobody was looking at me, except a tall, blonde, skinny man. He had bandages all over his body, and was wearing a black suit.

I saw him mutter something, but I couldn't figure out what it was.

In the ride back home, I couldn't handle it, and I cried to Kirishima's shoulder. He had tried to comfort me through his sadness too, even if it was a hard task. I remember my parents bought me icecream and my favorite meal to help me feel a little better, and I thank them for that. But I still was thinking about what could've happened to uncle Aike to die.

I don't know if I should've been thinking about that.

I was only nine.

Some days after, the family closest to him made a reunion. Strangely enough, he had made a testament, leaving his most valuable things to the people he loved the most. I shouldn't have gone to there, but I had something to receive, something that was very important in our family.

My aunt Akane handed me the beautiful collar that my uncle wore all the time, the blueish color of the gem still being visible. I don't remember what they said about it, but I couldn't care less. It was the thing that most reminded me of him, and I was glad I had gotten it. Maybe he remembered just how much I loved it, or maybe there was something else there. It's strange, but whenever I wear it, I feel like he's with me. That why I barely take it off throughout the day.

I've never met the skinny misterious man ever since, and I don't think i'll ever will. But I just have something clear, our family is close to death, and we had to learn to embrace the other side of existence.

I hope you didn't fall alseep after hearing about my backstory. Pfft, maybe you won't wake up.
