TAEHYUNG'S POV
"I want to cry"
She almost whispered, tears were on the brim of her eyes and her lips quivered, it broke my heart to look at her like this, at this moment I just wanted to take her pain away. A tear escaped from her eye and I knew she needed to let it all out, I held the back of her head and hid her face in my chest knowing how much she hates to cry in front of anyone. She wrapped her arms around my torso and cried silently, I put my chin on the top of her head while caressing her back to soothe her somehow.
Soon the silent cries turned louder and louder and by the next minute she started screaming while crying, my heart ached looking at her like this but I was so helpless that I couldn't do anything more than hug her close to me. She clutched my t-shirt tightly and wailed,
"She hates me"
I knew she was talking about her mother, I didn't mean to eavesdrop but I heard their conversation the kids also did but none of us said anything as it was her family issue and it was her place to solve those problems but I still remember the way she walked on eggshell whenever Mason or Saya was nearby and today I saw it all by myself.
If it wasn't her family she cared about I swear I would kill her mom right there to hurt her, but from now I'll make sure that no one would be able to hurt her anyhow. I tightened my grip around her as she started to shiver badly, I patted her head and whispered in her ear,
"Everything will be alright"
She shook her head in denial and pulled away from me instantly, I looked at her red-shot eyes, tears were running down her cheeks. Her back hit the counter she clutched the edges of it for her dear life and mumbled,
"Nothing is going to be alright"
I extended my arms towards her to hold her but she scrunched down and continuously mumbled,
"Everyone hates me"
I kneeled in front of her, and she frantically looked at me and spoke,
"You also hate me"
"I don't hate you Strawberry"
"You do"
She whispered I shook my head in denial as my eyes started to tear up, and I pulled her in my arms back. She tried her best to fiddle out of my embrace but I couldn't leave her like this, she started punching my chest weakly and mumbled while crying,
"You'll leave me again"
"I'm not going anywhere Yn"
She shook her head in rejection and continued to punch my chest weakly but I held her closer to me. Her actions started to become weak and weak as time passed eventually she rested her head in the crook of my neck, and I hugged her tighter telling her I was not leaving her anytime soon. She sobbed in the crook of my neck and mumbled,
"I always wanted a happy family"
She chuckled almost mocking herself and continued,
"But guess what neither I got one nor was able to create one"
"Shh~ Strawberry, stop thinking so much"
Her cries died slowly, but she continued to sob and sniff. She wrapped her fragile arms around my neck and closed her eyes, she snuggled into my embrace and spoke,
"I promise once I get pregnant, I'll set you free"
"You won't need to be by my side anymore then"
My heart ached as reminded me of the bitter truth, but a large part of me doesn't want to leave her like this, she's already too broken for this shit and now I love her I can't bring myself to break her heart again. I know I have Sunmi waiting for me but I have to figure everything out before I hurt anyone more than I already did.
I looked down and saw Yn sleeping peacefully now but continuing to sob every other minute, I wiped her tears away and picked up in the bridal style. I brought her back to our bedroom and made her lie down on the bed comfortably, I covered her body with the duvet and pecked her head, I cupped her face and spoke,
"But I need you by my side Strawberry"
"I promise, I'll make everything right"
"I love you, Yn"
Finally, I said those words, it felt better now as I voiced out my thoughts ultimately, after pecking my forehead for the last time I went back into the kid's room as I still needed to explain everything to them I won't tell them the truth as they are just kids for all this stuff but I'll make a story by myself.
I sighed heavily as I entered the kids' room, Eun-woo was playing video games while Yuri was doing something with her plushies, they both stopped and looked at me. I smiled at both of them and sat on their bed, both of them came sitting on each side and looking at me curiously, Yuri asked first,
"Is mom alright?"
I nodded and replied,
"She's just having a little headache"
"Did she get hurt?"
Eun-woo asked worriedly.
"No, she's alright now"
Eun-woo stayed quiet while Yuri continued with her questions,
"Does Grandma hate mom?"
"No, honey, they just fight over a silly thing"
"In anger, she said that she didn't mean it"
I lied. Both of the kids seemed to get convinced as none of them asked anything further, Eun-woo stared into nothingness thinking deeply about something while Yuri climbed up in my embrace and sleepily hugged my neck, I smiled and held her securely closer to myself. Suddenly Eun-woo spoke,
"Mom's birthday is coming"
I amusingly looked over and found him already looking at me, Yuri pulled away from my embrace and exclaimed,
"Yes, Mom's birthday is coming"
Honestly, I felt guilty for not remembering Yn's birthday and not being by her side all these years but now I have made up my mind that I'll do anything to fulfill my absence for all those years and make Yn happy again, I won't care what it takes I just want her to get healthy and happy like she always dreamt of.
I excitedly looked over the kids and suggested them,
"How about we organize a surprise party for her?"
Yuri replied.
"But mom doesn't like huge parties"
"She hates them"
Eun-woo added. I sighed thinking of another option, suddenly an idea popped into my head I looked at Eun-woo and asked,
"What about a small party, it will be just us and some of Yn's friends?"
"That'll be better, I guess"
Yuri added. I ruffled her hair while she giggled cutely leaning against my torso and standing between my legs, I wrapped my arm around her small frame and Eun-woo said,
"We have to buy gifts for her too"
"Obviously"
Yuri replied while sassily rolling her eyes which made me chuckle while Eun-woo pouted in annoyance, I love both of them so much. Yuri pulled away from me and walked towards her study table she announced,
"I'll search for some good gifts Mom"
"I'll make the list of the guests, then"
Eun-woo announced while walking to his table, I stood up looked at both of them, and spoke,
"Then I'll call others and tell them about the surprise party"
"Okay Dad"
They both answered in unison while getting busy with their tasks, I smiled and walked out of their room. I opened the door of our room and saw Yn still sleeping peacefully while snuggling into the comforter I smiled and decided to tell Dad about my feelings for Yn maybe he could help me sort out the rest of the things. After glancing at Yn for the last time I closed the door of the room silently and walked downstairs, there was just Jennie sitting in the living room working on her laptop, I asked her,
"Jen. Do you know where is dad?"
"Yeah he just goes back to his room"
"Okay"
I replied walking towards his room, I took a deep breath before knocking on the door of his room, he yelled,' Come in' and I entered inside. He smiled looking at me and spoke,
"I was planning to talk to you"
I frowned and while walking near him, I asked,
"Why? What happened"
"First you tell me why are you here?"
He asked instead, I exhaled heavily while sitting beside him on the couch and replied,
"I want to talk about something"
"About Yn?"
He asked while raising his brows making me shocked how did he know, is it obvious? I asked myself, he chuckled and spoke,
"Spill it out"
I nervously fidget my fingers looking down at my lap, I took a deep breath and told him,
"I think I'm in love with her"
"..."
I opened my eyes when I heard nothing and saw him smiling calmly at me which made me more nervous and confused than I was already. I raised my brows silently asking him to say something but he just shrugged and replied,
"I knew it"
I blinked my eyes while looking at him in disbelief and opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out, I closed my mouth back and gulped nervously while looking back at my hands as if they were the most interesting thing I voiced out my major concern,
"But what about Sunmi?"
"How do you feel about her?"
Dad asked making me think about her, I smacked my lips together and spoke honestly,
"I don't know"
"I loved her"
"But since I came back, my love for her somehow faded"
"I don't know how it happened but..."
"Now I can't help but feel remorseful for her"
"She left her everything for me and now I don't even love her"
Dad nodded and asked again,
"And how do you feel about Yn?"
I smiled as I heard her name, I looked back at Dad and replied,
"I feel happy whenever she is happy and sad whenever she is sad"
"It felt like there was some connection between us"
"I can read her through her mind"
"Today something happened and she was so sad and at that moment I just wished to take all of her pain away"
Dad smiled while patting my back and asked again,
"Now can you live without her?"
I confusingly looked at him while he elaborated,
"Can you leave her and the kids again and live with Sunmi like before?"
"No Dad"
I answered immediately, he chuckled and spoke,
"Here's the answer to your all problems"
At that moment I realized that I chose Yn over Sunmi, I fell out of love with Sunmi and fell in love with Yn instead, I don't love Sunmi anymore but Yn, I love her... But what I will do now, I need to explain the things to Sunmi, I can't avoid her forever, she will get hurt, and I'll hurt her despite everything she did for me...I looked over at Dad and asked,
"What will I say to Sunmi?"
He sighed at me and replied,
"Well, the truth"
I blankly looked at him while he continued,
"You can't lie to her forever"
"Sooner or later you have to tell her the truth"
"And now it's up to you how you are gonna confront her"
I nodded silently with a huge mess in my head, he patted my head and spoke,
"I know you'll figure out everything"
I sighed at myself and mumbled,
"I hope so"
There was a comfortable silence then I remembered that Dad also wanted to talk about something, I looked back at him and asked,
"What do you want to talk about Dad?"
He nervously looked at me and started,
"Well Mom planned something"
"What?"
I asked completely confused about his nervous expression, he searched my face and resumed,
"Well now almost everyone knows that you are back"
"So Mom decided to organize a ball next week"
"For you and Yn"
He added and I looked at him in pure shock, he cleared his throat and explained,
"There are rumors about you and Sunmi in the country"
"So Mom wants you two to appear together publicly and clear out all those rumors"
Well, I just nodded still stunned about Grandma's plan, I know she hates Sunmi with all of her heart and she hates it whenever people dis Yn about me and Sunmi. Not that I can do anything about it as if Grandma decided something no one can change her mind about it, she's too headstrong.
Dad and I talked for a few more minutes and I decided to head back to my room to check on Yn as she could wake up anytime. I opened the door of our room and found Yn sitting on the bed staring into nothingness, I smiled gently and spoke,
"How are you feeling, Strawberry?"
