Chapter 2: The Slums

It had been two years since y/n had left that house behind and cut all ties with the family.

You had changed your last name to f/l/n.

For a short time, you'd been homeless living on the streets of a district, some people called a neutral zone.

You realised even with your skills. You had a small problem. You didn't have proof of the said skills or work experience existed and no connections.

If you wanted to live in this city and protect yourself here. You'd need to dig deeper.

You thought back to one of the characters with short dark hair, round glasses, and suit. Ango. He was an ability user. He was also an agent infiltrated organisation.

There was one particular line of work he was about to do for the Port Mafia and something you'd take inspiration from.

An Informant.

Was it possible to find a person who taught the trade?

Surprisingly, you were able to find work as an apprentice for an informant with decent pay.

You were a little worried, might be slow, and the man was a tough one, but found it easier than expected to learn and adapt to it.

It almost gave your boss a heart attack when you handed in a mountain of report you'd revised.

You admit it's not the first job you'd imagined but the only one willing to take in a minor. You'd take what you could get.

You had also been secretly learning more about your new ability, Ice Maiden. But you could only use it to a certain extent. It'd take years to master it.

When you saved enough money, you were able to enrol in a nice school and continue your studies part-time.

Even though you'd graduated high school in your past life and been to college.

If you were going to set up a life for yourself, especially in the future, when you join the agency. It wouldn't hurt to learn more about Japanese culture and have a high school diploma under your belt.

For the second half of your income, you were able to find a small cheap motel room for yourself. Having a roof over your head was better than in an attic. No one asked questions.

You finished your apprenticeship earlier than anticipated, your boss who'd you'd only known for those two months stern faced but a little sad to hand over the license and let you go.
.
.
.

You started a secret business of your own in a neutral lower part of Yokohoma. It was very close to the border of the Port Mafia territory, and on the other was another criminal group.

The neutral zone did not exist in the books you'd read or the anime, but you suspected it may have been the work of the fates. The area had a history. The mafia bossed have been trying to get it for more than fifty years but with no luck. Peace treaty in place.

Your new job was to collect information and sell it to the highest bidder as an informant.

You kept a cold exterior and professional manner when dealing with clients. Quickly drew in people from other groups seeking information on dealings.

You earned the nickname 'Ice Queen'.

If they crossed you. Their lower half would be frozen in ice so they wouldn't try to run away almost similar to ice sculptures.

You'd contact auctioneer contact to take unlucky soul off your hands and sold to their enemies willing to pay highest bid on the black market.

You knew it was illegal.

You made quite a lot of money, you anonymously donates it to good charities within Yokohoma to help the less fortunate.

Some went towards a private bank account you were setting up for your birth parents. They were kind people who deserved better and a chance to turn over a new leaf.

When you had the chance, you'd bail them out of that place and relocate them to a nice place in the countryside. It was the least you could do to repay them for raising their child whose body you'd recarnated into.

It was around the time of your rising small business, you'd received word from one of your sources that The Sheep had hyjacked the plane and escaped.

You could only think of one orange haired male with a grey hoodie who could've done it.

Nakaya Chuuya.

It also made it become more real for you that you were really part of the Bungo Stray Dogs universe.

You decided to contact one of sources that lived in the slums. You hadn't seen them in a week and thought something must have happened.

One of their friends came and told you the source had come down sick and wouldn't be able to leave their home.

You haven't been there in a while, you decided to pay them a visit and bring medicine. Not about to walk into that place blindly.

It wasn't the safest place to be, it was everyone for themselves and survive in tough conditions.

You'd learnt self defense, smart enough to wear worn down street clothes and a hidden pepper spray.
.

.

Entered the alleyway and out to the hidden back buildings with array of many colours of the rainbow weather beaten and dirty.

Once upon a time the place to have a laboratory and had blown up creating a large crater years later had slowly become a neighborhood for the poor half of Yokohama population that had no where else to go.

You hurried down the winding steps of the slums, it heading towards the house, only near the bottom. A loud noise and loud voices filled the air.

Your (e/c) eyes instinctively turn to see see a giant crack in a wall, something that hadn't been there the previous time, and a teenage boy tackled into another boy.

The first one had shorter orange hair with a loose stray curl, wearing dark grey hoodies, blue jeans, and boots.

Eyes turn to the second one, dark brown hair, a single cold brown eye visible whilst the other was covered by bandages, white shirt with a black vest, black trench coat hanging off his shoulders, dark trousers and polished black shoes.

They stopped for a brief moment as if sensing another humans presence and saw you. The second male's cold and blank brown eye met your own. The world seemed to slow down for a single moment.

You kindly excused yourself and descended down the steps, feeling their eyes on you until you turned a corner.

You'd seen the Mafisco Dazai in the flesh.

And sheep member Chuuya.

You couldn't help but think that fifteen years and dark mafisco Dazai was hot.

Timeskip

Your source was surprised you came all the way to visit them. You brought containers of soup and medicine. Grateful. You just nodded.

Just as a precaution, you took a different route out of the slums. Despite your good deed, you had a sense of dread.

You knew there was an iron rule that mafisco had to follow in cases of any enemy or civilians who saw them.

Threatened, bribery, or silenced.

In your defence. You knew all well you were in the right place but the wrong time.

It didn't change the fact.

By seeing and escape the scene.

You'd become a witness.
