Nishtha's pov:
My whole world stopped when I got that flashback. I was beyond shock to know that he proposed to marry me when we were children.how did I never remembered this? I knew we were neighbours long time ago but I never knew this.
The past conversations with him started running through my mind.
Whatever he said on our first night
"I am waiting for your memory to come back"
"How did you know I wanted to go out reyansh? I didn't told that to you"
"Because.."
He never finished that sentence
"You know co-incidentally you made my favourite food"
It wasn't co incidence after all?
I flipped the picture and the next one was again of us.
Flashback:
Age 14
Author's pov:
The classroom was buzzing with silent noises and whispers as the teacher kept writing something on board.
The voices of the students started increasing and the noise started echoing more.
"Is this a fish market?" The teacher shouted,annoyed because they weren't letting her complete her syllabus
She got more angry and banged the duster loudly on the table.she then placed the chalk on the table and went towards the chair.she picked up the bag which was on the chair.she took out a pile of papers and all the students gasped in horror.it was the nightmare time.a time every student wished to skip
"Let's see how much noises You all are going to make after watching your test score" she said amd started distributing the papers
"Reyansh,48 out of 50,good work" she handed the paper to him and he smirked looking at his friends proudly
"Nishtha,50 out of 50,very good.she is the brightest and most sincere girl in the class.look at her,she's good in everything" she kept praising nishtha but stopped when she noticed all eyes were on reyansh.some of them were teasing him, some of them gave him teasing look and most of them hooted looking at him.
"Wait,why is everyone shouting reyansh's name,while I'm praising nishtha?" She was confused.being in her early 50's she was having no idea what these youngsters are upto
The class hooted and shouted more after what the teacher said.but those two pair of eyes were still stealing looks with each other
Reyansh was blushing so much that the teacher noticed and said
"Reyansh,you're giving competition to beetroot "
He quickly placed his head on the desk as no one will able to see his flushed face
"Why don't you ask for her number.I am sure she won't reject" vivaan,his best friend said
"Mujhe uske no.ki zarurat nahi hai. Wo mere ghar ke samne rehti hai.mai jab chahu usey dekh sakta hu,mai jab chahu ussey baat kar sakta hu,mai jab chahu ussey mil sakta hu" he scoffed and started writing his notes.
But this wasn't the truth.although they are neighbours, none of them have the courage to talk to each other.he know he will faint,the day he will talk to her.he wasn't complaining at all Even though they had numerous peaking at each other moments.he was happy and content with it.
But, his heart wanted more.....
Age-16
It was annual function of their school in two days and the preparation was on fire.
From performing stunts to dancing on 'desh rangila'.everyone was occupied with something.the group of students were tensed about their acting skills on the skit they were going to perform today.a student who was engrossed in the paper because he has to remember the whole speech..
Today was the day when the heads, principal and vice principal of the school will look into the students performance and will decide whether they will perform on the stage or not
It was six in the evening and nishtha was jumping in the hallway as her dance performance was approved.she bid goodbye to her friends and went towards her bicycle which was parked.she unlocked it and tried to move but stopped when she saw that,it was punctured
Her eyes went wide and her heart started racing rapidly.
"Is something wrong?" She flinched at his voice and turned around to see it was none other than him.
"Yeah,my bicycle " she gestured towards it
"It got punctured " she said And looked down
"Umm- It's already late, and the shops might be closed.why don't you come with me on my bike? After all you are my 'padosan' " he tried to joke with her. although his heart was doing somersault but he wanted to give good impression to her.
"Padosan?" She laughed at the nickname she got to knew right now
"Let's go" he said and they went towards his bike.
She stood at a corner while he was removing his bike from the parking area.
The raised his eyebrow and tilted his head slightly,signalling her to sit behind him.
She placed her on hand on his shoulder to sit more comfortably,as she made herself comfortable she waited for him to start the ride.but then she realized that he isnt
breathing since The moment her hands were on his shoulder.she quickly yanked away her hand and he frowned at the loss of the warmth
"Lord,give Me strength " he muttered and started the ride.
It was silent half-way but then she broke the ice
"You aren't participated in anything.Then how are you here today?" She asked as she remembered she checked for his name on the participants list.
He got caught,she didn't
"Uh- my friend participated actually and I was there to support him" he quickly made up a lie.
"And what are you going to perform?" He asked changing the topic
"Ohh, It's a dance performance,you know i'm so excited for it" she grinned and his heart couldn't handle more
"Me too" he whispered and her heart merely stopped when she heard that.
The bike stopped infront of her house and she stepped down.she was hesitating to say something
"T-thankyou for helping me" she said and quickly turned around and started walking towards her home
He leaned on his bike,folding his hands
"Turn around" he whispered slowly to himself
Just when she was outside the door.she turned around,and started blushing instantly as she went inside.
"Yes!" He started jumping with excitement. He was content and happy today.
His best friend's plan worked.he knew both them will never make a move so he has to.
Although reyansh was guilty for doing that to her bicycle.but atleast he got to witness this moment.
Two days later it was finally the D-day.
Everyone was excited but not more than him.he was counting every hour on his fingers.he was eager to watch her dance
The function finally started and he ran to sit on the front row.After the national anthem, few speeches and skit,it was finally the time for her performance.
The host called her name and the curtains finally opened.
There she was looking exotically beautiful when She stepped ahead for the dance.
His heart skipped a beat when he first saw her in that attire.
She started doing her moves as she was dressed as that particular character.
'Mastani'.
In between the performance their eyes met and both of them were lost in each other's gaze.the performance finally stopped and she left for backstage.
He quickly got up but not before taking the rose which was kept for welcoming the guests.he picked a rose from that bouquet and ran towards the way She left.
There she was,standing at the corner and thanking everyone who was praising her.
She then excused them and started approaching towards him
Panick rose in him and now he wasn't able to breathe at all.his hands were actually shivering when she stood right in front of him.
"This is for you" that's all he said before handing the rose to her.she looked deep into his eyes but he can't. He smiled and went away from there.
But this didn't go how it was planned.he wanted to say a lot to her.he wanted to tell her that she looks like there's no other beauty exists,other than her.he wanted to praise her the way she was dancing.he wanted to tell her that his girl is an attractive beauty.
But he couldn't.there's no reason for that.
It's just he couldn't
He didn't sleep that night
She didn't let him sleep
She was running in his mind all the time
He was blushing,giggling and throwing his legs in the air
The next day when he was walking down the street for school.he saw her going through her bicycle.but something got off guard by him and minutes later he realized
She was wearing a flower given by him in her hair.
