The blaring alarm woke me up almost knocking out of my bed. I look over on the other bed to see Kasey stirring a bit in her bed but not fully waking. It was around 4am in the morning
I told Iñaki I wanted to say bye before he left so I shoved on some slippers and silently walked all the way from my dorm to Iñakis
As I got there I noticed he was already outside of his dorm scrolling on his phone
"Oh hey [Name]." Iñaki said waving to me while whispering to not wake the sleep deprived college students around us
"Hi Iñaki. You ready to go?" I asked grabbing some of his bags as we walk to his car making small talk
I put the finale bag in the back of his trunk before closing it. I turn to look at him and Iñakis face is covered with sadness
His lips in a small frown, tears forming on the edge of his eye, his nose turning a light pink. I felt a lump form in my throat as I quickly pulled him into a hug.
I rubbed my hand up and down his back trying to comfort him but I felt myself tear up. The lump in my throat now moving to my stomach and resting there as Iñaki waved goodbye before driving out of the parking lot
I sighed walking back to my dorm. In my head I thought "this wouldn't affect me." "I only knew him for like a month."
But when I was walking in the dimly light sidewalk the air felt a little colder and the silence was uncomfortable.
Like there was something to be there....
I shrugged it off. It was normal to miss someone you were friends with. I mean we've talk for some time and anyways I still had his number so it wouldn't really matter since I could still talk to him.
I got back to my dorm and almost immediately passed out. I woke up around ten and it was like my brains had been cleaned. I was like an old man trying to remember where he put everything.
I sunk back into my bed knowing now that I am most likely going to have no one to talk to for my first two classes.
I layed in my bed scrolling on my phone for about an hour and thirty minutes before I even started to get ready
It was a simple white hoodie with some sweat pants since the weather had started to dip and it was finally starting to feel like fall
I also realized very quickly that in college no really expects you to even were jeans and most people show up in pjs
I was wearing some slippers and dragged my feet all the way to my first class. I rested my head on my hand waiting for class to start as people found their way to their seats
"Good morning, we'll good after noon class I can-. [Name] do you know where Iñaki is?" Mr.Barnes said making my head lift up a bit
"Oh he's in South Africa." I said making people give confused looks
"Ah. Okay thank you." Mr.Barnes said before turning his back to the class and start to write on the chalkboard
I wrote down my notes the entirety of class. It felt good knowing I wouldn't have to do these notes after all my classes
The rest of my day was normal. Around 3 o'clock I was almost done for the day and then only thing I could do was nothing for about 3 hours.
I contemplated whether or not if I should just skip it since attendance isn't part of the grade and the class is only 30 minutes and was basically a free period I had to push something in
Then I got an idea. I remembered that dude that Iñaki talked to on Friday night. I grabbed my car keys and started my car and looked in the history of my Google Maps.
I found what I typed in on Friday and quickly got there and walked out of my car. I looked around violently. Trying to see if Jose was here
I sighed deeply as I saw him sitting on a bench that me and Iñaki shared not too long ago
I slowly walked up to him, he looked at me and nodded towards the free spot next to him
I smiled as I gladly took said spot. I gulped feeling a bit nervous since Iñaki told me to see him more often. But like he also said he doesn't speak much English. Or at all, I can't really remember
"You [Name]?" Jose asked me making me turn my head a bit
I nodded
"Iñaki told me a lot bout you." Jose said making me form a little smiling hearing that Iñaki talked about me to a friend
"He trust you. A lot." Jose said waving his hand around to gesture a lot
"Why?" I asked knowing we barely know each other
"He said you good friend." Jose said starting to go onto a long story about how Iñaki talk to him as soon as he "met" me and how he said "we were going to be great friends"
I sat with Jose for some time eating and talking. After a while we went back and forth with google translate but I didn't mind. Because it felt like I was talking to Iñaki again
They were so similar I didn't notice it in the beginning. But I get it now...
