Today was another normal day for y/n, waking up, watching Aliyah tell her mom she wasn't going to school because she felt like something would happen, changing for school, skipping breakfast because she was late, going to school with her mom while her mom lectured her about how she needed to be more responsible about her timing, her sister Jenna on the front seat taking a lift to work and also lecturing her about how she needs to eat breakfast because is the most important part of the day and blah blah blah
first period was history, she almost slept since the teacher turned off the lights and turned the projector on
then it was English, she likes this class. well not exactly but it's her comfort teacher class and she loved to write so it's kinda a good class
the last class before their 15 minutes snack recess, was science. the class started out pretty normal and as boring as ever. she was now at the lab sitting on the same counter as her best friend Tommy, the iconic gay guy but it's still her best friend, it's not like y/n was any different (💁🏻♀️) and also her best friend blake. they didn't want to but the teacher made Jack, the weird guy who girls are scared of
as bored as you are now, you are thinking of the recital on the end of the year. you got to be Clara at the nutcracker, the role you dreamt for years. your a dancer your whole entire life, you love jazz, hiphop and contemporary but ballet just hits different for you
a couple minutes into class y/n was playing on her phone while the teacher corrected some homework and told everybody to do some kind of experiment with those weird wires and things here. she decided to text her sister seeing as she was online

you frowned as you looked at her message, why should you leave the room anyways??
that's until you heard a scream coming from your side, it was Blake. looking more precisely you saw the fire starting to spread into the classroom.
I guess fire training drill doesn't teach you how to act when the fire is where you are. in the same place, classroom, same floor you are touching
you let out a terrified scream as thoughts of your death filled your mind 'I'm gonna die' is the biggest one, you fumbled on your phone to try and call someone but you were stopped when you heard a loud noise, followed by pain in parts of your body and you fell to the ground. probably not the best thing to happen when everything is surrounded by fire.
you kept screaming non stop and sobbing heavily, tommy picked you out of the floor as all of the classroom was filled with chaos and fire. everybody was climbing over the counters and the fire was only spreading to the school, alarms are sounding loudly. your having trouble breathing, realization of your situation panics you. you smell burnt meat, looking down your throbbing leg is black because of the burnt skin
a loud bang noise was heard, you looked over and it was a gunshot. jack killed himself.
your starting to breathe too much smoke, the teacher opened the windows but it still wasn't enough. you passed out due to the smoke breathing and the pain on your body

Jenna stayed terrified out of her mind, she even left the meeting she was because she could feel a panic attack coming. when she was about to go to her car and pick you up she saw the tv screen on the reception, she felt her body start shaking
urgent news!!
the L.A St. Mary's High School is on fire! the local fire fighters just started to get in control of the fire and the fire is starting to die down. The fire started 15 minutes ago approximately and until now, 15 students were able to get out of the building alive and no injuries, 26 students are being sent to the hospital and 15 were found dead. Also, this school is not just a random school. is the school that the sisters of the phenomenon jenna Ortega study! we still don't have any news on Aliyah or y/n.
Jenna started to hyperventilate from the terrifying news, she breathed a sigh of relief when she remembered that alyiah missed school today. but when she also remembers that y/n was right there she lets out a sob
her friend and co-star Emma Myers that was also on the meeting heard the news on the tv and rushed over to the reception knowing that Jenna must be really shaken up on this and wouldn't be abre to drive home
as she reaches the reception and see her shaking friend, obviously having a panic attack. she rushed over to Jenna to help her
while on that, miss Ortega, also saw the journal and panicked together with Aliyah that was by her side when they watched it. They took the car and drove as fast as they could to the school trying to get answers about y/n but still, nothing.
after what seem like a eternity they talked to a police officer that was there and told them that he didn't knew if she was still inside the school or if she was transferred to a hospital. he said that all of the kids found were brought to the children hospital of L.A. and that of y/n isn't at the hospital she's probably dead.
so that's what they did, they rushed to the hospital both in tears of worry. As they got inside the hospital was full of worried parents, crying parents, little kids probably siblings terrified and crying loudly
as they got to the reception they were frantic
"y/n y/m/n Ortega is she here? IS SHE HERE????" Aliyah raised her voice
"um wait let me check.............just a minute........oh I don't think she was registered here..... oh wait, she's here she was admitted at 12:24pm and is going through surgery now" the nurse replied
"oh thank god, is it severe? Is she going to be ok?"
" I don't know you'll have to wait for the doctor and see" the nurse replied "now please go wait in the waiting room"
they nodded their heads and walked to the available chair, noticing that Jenna was calling them
Ms Ortega picked up the phone
"Mom, where are you? Is she OK? I saw the news. Is- is she alive?" Jenna said in a panicked rush
" she's alive but we don't know anything further we just got to the Children's Hospital she was sent to" ms Ortega replied tearfully
"I'm on my way, l.a children hospital right?" jenna asked and her mother replied "yes, drive safely love"
an hour later when jenna was already there comforting her little sister and her mother a doctor approached them
"family of y/n ortega I presume" he said and the three of them shot up to hear what he was saying
"so, she's somewhat stable but unfortunately I will have to let you guys make a hard decision. Her body is burnt but it isn't as severe as her legs are, more specifically her left leg is 89% burnt and the only thing that we can do to help is to amputate her leg take it off. If we let her with the leg the chances for a deathly infection are huge and she wouldn't be able to walk anyway. so basically I need you guys approval to cut her leg off to keep her alive." The doctor said holding a stack of papers so the family could sign
"what? no she- she can't lose her leg she's a dancer like a real life ballerina she literally can't" Jenna stated
"I'm sorry ma'am but it's this or the infection may spread to her entire body and end her life" the doctor said and Jenna let out a sob as her mom signed the papers, only picturing her sister reaction on her head
"she's already in the operating room so it should take around 3-4 hours" the doctor said and excused himself
3 hours later *spongebob voice*
"family of Y/N Ortega" the doctor announced on from the hallway
"it's us!!!" Jenna exclaimed with her mother
the doctor approached with a notepad in hand
"Well, I'm glad to say that the surgery went well and she's stabilized. If you want you can come see her now" the doctor said and Jenna let out a sigh of relief
after waking Aliyah up and walking with the doctor to the room he stopped on the door
"I must warn you, she's attached to lots of wires and is unconscious but she is already out of anesthesia effect so she may wake up anytime soon" the doctor said
they walked in the room and they all let out a sob almost at the same time. Jenna rushed to your side and started kissing your temple mumbling apologies
"I'm sorry I'm so so sorry I'm sorry" Jenna mumbled in between pecks, grabbing your hand
eventually after probably and hour of them sitting there you started to stir and Jenna that hasn't left your hand since was the first to feel it
"it's too bright" you mumbled so quietly that anyone heard except Jenna that stood up quickly
"you okay?? how are you feeling?" Jenna said worriedly making your mom and sister wake up too
"oh my she's awake" your mother said
you groaned loudly once you came back to your senses
"what's wrong? Aliyah go call the doctor" Jenna ordered
"my leg! it hurts so much" you let out a sob and went to caress your leg but jenna held your hand
"shh don't touch it" jenna said making you frown
"it's hurting jenna" you cried out making a few tears fall out of your moms face too
"I see someone woke up here!" The doctor cheered as he entered the room
"my leg hurts!" you said loudly
"which one sweetie?" the doctor asked
"the left one" you replied and he let out a sigh
"that's the first phantom pain, you will probably have this a lot" the doctor said and you stood there with a frown on your face
"what do you mean phantom pain?" you asked
"well, you had 87% of your left leg burnt so we had to make a decision between your life or your leg. I'm sorry sweetie" he said and you wired your eyes
"my- you-" you said panicky while trying to feel your leg but being met with nothing the only thing you had was a little part of your leg that ended before your knee
you started sobbing
"I- I CANT - I WANNA DANCE" you said crying
"I'm so sorry bubba" alyiah pressed a kiss on your forehead
you stood there
crying non stop
eventually you got a prosthetic leg
but it wasn't the same
this destroyed your life
