Season 4, Ep 6

Gwen was feeling home sick as she would call it the Boston blues. Fall was her favorite time of year and now that November approached she couldn't help but miss the crisp weather. Being in LA and heavily pregnant she was constantly hot and moody.
Gwen had two more weeks left until she started her maternity leave and she was beyond ready. After Halloween had passed Gwen was ready to sit home and relax and wait for the baby to come. Gwen now entered her 8th month, meaning she would be at the OB at least every week to check and see how her cervix was doing.
"Package came for you" Tim announced snapping Gwen out of her thoughts. Gwen looked over at Tim watching as she walked into the kitchen with a large box in hand.
She looked at him confused as he placed the box on the counter "I didn't order anything" she stated. She looked at the shipping label and immediately smiled when she saw where it came from.
"It's from my parents! They must've sent me something" she said opening the box. She smiled as she read the cute little note to her self. Inside the box was a couple of neutral onesies, a Christmas collar for Remy, and some of Gwen's favorite fall candles. The simple gesture made Gwen instantly get teary eyed.
"I love it so much. It reminds me of home" Gwen says. Tim nodded and rubbed her shoulder in attempts to comfort the hormonal women.
Gwen looked at the time and stood up cleaning up her face. They both had to be at the station soon.

Grey had briefed all of the Officers during roll call of all their duties for the day. Gwen had been assigned to stay at the station with Officer Thorsen to work on any paper work and light case work. Gwen wasn't allowed to leave the station and be on patrol it was Tim and Grey's rules.
Before Tim had left with Jerry, 55 year old Officer who needed to retire. He walked up to Officer Thorsen when Gwen went to the bathroom.
"Sergeant Bradford, what can I do for you?" He asked. Tim glanced over his shoulder and back at that rookie "You make sure you have Detective Rivers back today got it?" Officer Thorsen nodded. Tim nodded and watched as Gwen walked back up to them.
"Stay safe out there" Gwen told Tim. Tim nodded "Always am" he said.
"Ready Officer Thorsen?" She asked grabbing a the endless piles of paperwork on the desk. Thorsen nodded and looked at the pregnant women "Yes ma'am, do you need anything before we start?" He asked following her down to the file room. Gwen shook her head "No, I'm okay. But I'll let you know when I'm ready for a snack break" she says with a laugh.

It was a chaotic day for majority of the Officers at Mid-Wilshire. Angela and Nolan were working an arson case that Gwen desperately wanted to join. Sergeant Grey was informed of the chaos that had happened at the Santa Monica pier and was going to brief the officers working the case about the madness.
Gwen sat down looking at the whiteboard that held a poem with a riddle on it. The officers were being briefed on the scavenger hunt for gold coins.
"This poem was posted on Reddit two days ago, and it's the reason why a young mother is laying in the morgue right now." Grey stated he pointed to the whiteboard easel that had 3 stanzas.
"Uh, people are only gonna get crazier hunting for the treasure." Tim said as he stood on the side of Grey.
"Gold coins?" Harper asked, Grey nodded "2 million to be exact" he said.
"The city's losing its mind. I mean, w-we're getting flooded with calls of people climbing the Hollywood sign, diving into Echo Park Lake." Tim said he was slightly stressed out.
"All right, we need to find this gold and to end the chaos as quickly as possible. Now, Chen, you deciphered the first clue. How'd you do it?" Grey asked Lucy. Lucy stood up and walked over to the white board.
"Well, i-it -- it first clicked when I realized that "angle" could mean "fishhook." The pier is a favorite fishing point, and fisherman are also called anglers." She said with a proud smile on her features. Tim scoffed "Nerd" he said.
Gwen rolled her eyes "don't let him shame you that was a great catch" Gwen said with a small wink. Lucy smiled "Thank you" she said.
"Okay what about the rest of the stanza?" Grey asked.
"Uh, "Next find the lens thru which you'll spy the West Coast's greatest view." I mean, the lens is obviously the viewfinder at the pier." Officer Thorsen stated as he read out the stanza.
Chen nodded "Yes, and, uh, um, this next line, "The fee you pay," refers to the fee of the viewfinder, which is 75 cents, so we just need to change 75 into a-a year." Lucy says.
"What year? That could be anything" Nolan says looking confused. Gwen reads the riddle once more before speaking "It's 1975. It's the Year of the Rabbit" she turns to Tim "Call me a nerd I dare you" she sasses which causes Tim to smirk.
"Well, uh, the poem states, The fee you pay becomes the year of Rabbit minus two, so 1975 minus 2 is 1973." Lucy says.
Grey nods not quite understanding the riddle "Okay so what does that mean?" He asked.
"Uh, it's not gonna make sense until we solve the second stanza. The third stanza says that, once we put those two clues together, we will find the gold." Gwen says.
Grey nods "Harper, Chen, and Rivers I'm putting you in charge of solving the riddle. Thorsen you're riding with me. Everyone be vigilant" he instructs.
Tim walks over to Gwen "You-" Gwen cut him off already knowing what he was going to say.
"Yes I know, I'll remain at the station" she says. Harper looks at Tim with a raised eye brow "What can't she tag along?" She asked.
Tim points to her stomach as if it was quite obvious "She's 8 months pregnant" he says. Harper shrugs "I worked until I went until labor" she says.
Tim rolls his eyes "Well she won't be doing that" he says before saying goodbye to Gwen.
Gwen sighs as they get started on trying to crack the case.

"A monument to Rebels gone." Are they dead? Is it a cemetery? The Forest Lawn Cemetery? They do mention "lawn." Harper reads out. The last couple of hours they had spent re-reading the same stanza.
Gwen looked up at the lines unsure of what they meant. She took another bite of her food "Okay, well, we have "monuments," "dead Rebels," and "darkness' edge." That -- That could be a cemetery." Nolan says.
Gwen nods "What about the spheres?" Gwen asks. Nolan looks over at her as he thinks of an answer "Could be heavens, stars?" He says but sounds more like a question.
Lucy gasps as she goes over to board with a smile on her face "Stars, spheres, heavens it's the griffin observatory" she says.
Gwen nods excited have a break through "Ok let's go" Gwen says after she finishes a bite of her pizza. Nolan raises an eyebrow "Are you sure you should go? Tim said-" Harper cut him off "She can go. We're just going to the observatory. Nothing bad will happen" she says.

Once they got to the observatory some people were spotted with shovels trying to solve the clue from the riddle.
"Looks like we need to step up our game" Nolan says. Gwen agrees as she watches people run up towards the entrance. It was crazy that this was what people would do for money.
A women yells catching the attention of all the officers. She has a panicked look on her face "He's got a bomb" she yells as she points over to someone with a small C4 in his hand.
"Hey! Hey! Stop right there" Harper orders seeing the man get closer. Nolan gently grabs Gwen's arm pulling her behind him.
"I know this looks bad, but if you'll just let me blow up that wall, I can finally prove to my wife that I was right about something." The man says with a small smile.
"Sir, you need to drop the bomb now!" Lucy says. The man holds his hand up "Guys, chill! I know what I'm doing. Oh!" He says as the bomb started to beep. Gwen looked over in a worry as she thought of the worst outcome. Which meant the bomb was going to explode.
In an instant the bomb exploded instantly killing the man. Nolan was quick enough to react as he gently put his body on top of Gwen's for protection.

Grey, Thorsen, and Tim arrived on scene. Tim wasn't happy that Gwen decided to tag along with them. When he heard about Gwen being involved in the bombing he couldn't help but get anxious.
He ran over to her once he saw her. Gwen looked at him with a frown "i know what you're going to say. I'm sorry, but I didn't know a guy was going have a bomb with him" Tim sighed and pulled her into a hug. He was mad but all he cared about was that she was okay.
"It's okay, I'll have to thank Nolan for protecting you" he says. Gwen nods and walks up to Nolan "Thanks Nolan for having my back" Gwen says.
Nolan smiles "You're welcome!" He says qloudly. Tim looks at him "Why are you yelling?" He asks. Gwen laughs "The explosion" she says.
Tim nods and walks over to the car " Head back to the station and wait for me" he tells her as she nods.

End of shift approached for Gwen she stood in the lobby of the station as she waited for Tim to text her. She was ready to go home and eat. At the point of her pregnancy her stamina was low and she was tired very quickly.
Today was a long day with trying to solve the riddle and it ended up with many people hurt.
Tim texted Gwen knocking her out of her thoughts. He had let her know he was outside. Gwen walked outside and saw Tim talking to a blonde women. She watched as the women would smile at Tim as he conversed with her.
Gwen rolled her eyes and walked over to Tim "Hey babe, ready to go?" She asks as she places her hand on her arm. The women's smile drops slightly as she notices the pregnant women.
Tim looks at her and smiles "Yea I'm ready, nice meeting you Ashley. Take care of Jerry" he says. Gwen realizes the blonde women talking to Tim was Jerry's daughter.
Tim guided Gwen into the truck and looks at her with a smirk "It's sexy when you get jealous" he tells her.

They had been home for a couple of hours as Gwen laid in bed watching tv. She could feel the baby move around slightly. The baby would constantly move more at night then the day making Gwen have a hard time sleeping. Tim was watching whatever football game that was on.
Gwen sat up feeling a change of hormone rush through her. Tim looked at her "You okay? He asks. Gwen nods and leans closer to Tim as she pecks his lips.
Tim smirks and pulls her down gently on top of him "Oh I like where this is going" he says.
How do we like the chapter? The baby is almost here! Any thoughts on the name??
