Edgeworth's House

"Is that all, sir?" Gumshoe asks, suddenly on my porch.

"Yes, yes. Sorry, I will go get a check right away." I wasn't paying attention, I presume, as I had no recollection of Gumshoe walking up here.

I go inside my house, grabbing my checkbook out of a drawer. I keep everything organized so I know exactly where everything is at all times. My house is never a mess, it makes me feel better that way. I grab a pen, signing the check.

I go outside and hand it to Gumshoe. It was only a thousand bucks, but it probably seems like a lot due to his low income.

"Well, thank you, pal. Anything else?"

I shook my head, "No. That is all. Thank you for your work."

With that I went inside and closed the door. I wasn't particularly fond of the rain, but it didn't bug me either. Though, I do wish it was quieter. I have work to do after all.

I sat at my desk, staring at all the paperwork before me, and I groaned quietly. Oftentimes, I am not bothered by my work. It's my job, I get paid, and that is that. I don't hate working but I don't love it either. However, between the crashing rain and my own thoughts, I could not work correctly.

You can take a break, nobody is going to judge you. I shake that thought from my head. Did anyone get anywhere by being lazy? No. I pick up a file, then I look at my phone. If he called me one more time it'd be an excuse to quit working.

"Dammit, Wright." I mutter, silently cursing him for his horrible timing skills.

Just then, my phone light up, almost on cue. If this were some 80's reality TV show there would be a laughter soundtrack in the background, I'm certain.

I answer, probably faster than I should have.

"Wright?" I asked, as the other line of the phone stayed quiet.

"No, it's y-" Wright's voice sounded, though I don't know why he was saying no, nor do I know what he was going to finish that sentence with before he caught himself.

"Yes, it's Wright." He ended up finished the sentence with.

"Do you need something? I am busy."

    "Bad time?" He asked.

    No. "Yes."

    "Should I call back later?"

"No, no, just say whatever it is you feel you needed to call me for."

(I'm sorry if this one is not as good as the other one's, I'm not feeling the greatest today. And no, Wright is not calling to ask Edgeworth on a date. It's a slow burn :) )
