Carmén had just woken up an hour ago and had gotten dressed.
She planned to ask her mother to take her to the mall so she can buy a dress for the dance.
She had seen that Jahzara had already gotten one when she came over Wednesday. She wanted to get something that would go well with hers.
"Buenos días Mamí." Carmén said as she entered the kitchen
(Good morning Mamí.)
"Buenos días bebé. Ariellé fue a almorzar." Her mother said
(Good morning baby. Ariellé went to go get some lunch.)
"¿La dejaste it sola?" Carmén asked as she raised her eyebrow
(You let her go by herself?)
"Sí. Prácticamente me suplicó. Pero está al otro lado de la Calle, así que la dejé. Está de regreso." Her mother said
(Yes. She practically begged me. But it's across the street so I let her. She's on her way back.)
"De acuerdo. Así ¿que me preguntaba si podeías llevarme al centro comercial?" Carmén asked
(Ok. So I was wondering if you could take me to the mall.)
"Por supuesto bebé. Tengo algo de dinero ahorrado para que tú y Ariellé vaya de compras. No es mucho, pero puedes tenerlo." Her mother said
(Of course baby. I have some money saved up for you and Ariellé to go shopping. It's not much but you can have it.)
"Sé que estábamos cortos de dinero. Le preguntaré a Jahzara si puedo encontrar un trabajo alguna vez." Carmén said
(I know we're short on money. I'll ask Jahzara if I can find a job sometime.)
"No tienes que bebé. Disfruta de tu adolescencia." Her mother said
(You don't have to baby. Enjoy your teenage years.)
"Quiero ayudar." Carmén said
(I wanna help Mamí.)
"De acuerdo. Ve a buscar la puerta. Tu hermana está aquí." Carmén' mother said
(Ok. Go get the door. Your sister's here.)
"Hola Ariellé." Carmén said as she pulled her sister into a hug after she got in the apartment
"Hola Carmén. No tritured la comida." Ariellé said as she quickly moved the bag
(Don't crush the food.)
"Lo siento." Carmén said after chuckling at her sister's seriousness over the food
(Sorry.)
"Hola Mamí. He vuelto." Ariellé said as she hugged her mother
(Hi Mamí. I'm back.)
"Me alegro de que hayas Vuelta Sano y salvo, querida. Ven a comer para que podamos irnos." Her mother said
(I'm glad your back safe and sound dear. Come and eat so we can go.)
"¿Adónde vamos?" Ariellé asked
(Where are we going?)
"Carmén quiere ir al centro comercial." Her mother responded
(Carmén wants to go to the mall.)
"De acuerdo.
Quería una o dos camisas más." Ariellé said as she opened her container of food
(Alright. I wanted another shirt or two.)
"Puedes conseguir unos zapatos desmasido caros." Her mother said
(You can get some shoes too dear.)
"No, está bien. Voy a limitar. No quiero que gates desmasido dinero en ropa. Sé que eran un poco." Ariellé said as she shook her head
(No its ok Mamí. I'll limit. I don't want you to spend too much money on clothing. I know we're a little tight.)
"Gracias niñas. Intentaré ver si puedo recoger algunos turnos adicinales como trabajo." Their mother said gratefully
(Thank you kids. I'll try to see if I can pick up some extra shifts at work.)
"Está bien Mamí. Estamos bien con lo que tenemos ahora. Ya nos has dodo tanto." Carmén said
(It's ok Mamí. We're fine with we what we have now. You've given us so much already.)
"Así, gracias." Ariellé said with a smile
(So thank you.)
"Entonces, ¿por quéquieres ir al centro comercial de todos modos?" Ariellé asked her sister
(So, what'd you want to go to the mall for anyway, Carmén?)
"Venga, sí. Ninca me lo dijiste, querida." Their mother said
(Oh, yeah you did never tell me dear.)
"Hay un balle en la escuela el ocho del próximo mes y quería comprar un vestido nuevo." Carmén responded
(There's a dance at school on the 8th of next month. And I wanted to get a new dress.)
"Oh, ¿te va a preguntar Jahzara?" Ariellé said attentively
(Oh, is Jahzara gonna ask you?)
"Ya lo hizo." Carmén answered with a smile on her face
(She already did.)
"¿Cuando?" Ariellé asked as she tilted her head
(When?)
"El miércoles, cuando vino." Carmén said
(Wednesday, when she came over.)
"Es por eso que ustedes dos estaban Tam felices." Carmén's mother siad
(That's why you two were so happy.)
"Sí. Me preguntó el día que nos lo dijeron." Carmén said
(Yeah. She asked me they day they told us.)
"No quería que nadie más te preguntara." Ariellé teased
(She didn't want anyone else to ask you.)
"Bueno, vamos a buscarte el vestido perfercto." Carmén's mother said enthusiastically
(Well let's go and find you the perfect dress.)
12:50pm
"Jahzara Gianna Jones get your ass out of bed." Jahzara's father said as he barged in her room
"Dad. Why? It's the weekend." Jahzara said as she rolled over
"The weekend is 11 and 12. Not damn near one." Aaron said as he chuckled
"Sorry. I'm up now." Jahzara said as she got up to go give her father a hug
"It's fine. Going to bed at 4 in the morning. What was you doing?" Aaron asked
"On the phone with Yamara. She's the only one who stays up late." Jahzara said as she made her way to her bathroom
"What's this dress for?" Her father asked as he looked at the dress hanging up on her fcloset door
"The dance next month." Jahzara said before she went into her bathroom
Aaron walked out the girl's room to go ask his wife about this dance.
"You know Jahzara said there was a dance. She already done got a dress." Aaron said as he made it into the kitchen
"¿Que? She didn't tell me. Where is she now?" Isabella asked
(What?)
"In the bathroom. She should be out soon." Aaron said as he watched his wife walk towards the girls room
"What's going on?" Jahzara asked once she stepped out of her bathroom, seeing both her parent's in her room
"¿Cómo no me hablas de un baile? Podría haberte hecho un vestido y un collar. ¿Le preguntaste a Carmén? ¿Te lo preguntó?" Jahzara's mother asked as she talked frantically
(How could you not tell me about the dance? I could've made you a dress and a necklace. Did you ask Carmén? Did she ask you?)
"This is why I didn't tell you Mamí. Estás haciendo mucho." Jahzara said as she sighed
(You're doing a lot.)
"Sorry it's just exciting. Your going to a dance where you can have a date." Isabella said enthusiastically
"So do you got a date?" Aaron asked
"Yeah. I asked Carmén Wednesday." Jahzara said with a bright smile
"Finally you asked her on a date." Jahmere said
"What are you doing here?" Jahzara said while scrunching her face up
"I heard Mamí talking loud." Jahmere said
"I'm so happy. Make sure you come by to take some pictures." Isabella said before she exited the room
"Felicidades. No te equivoques." Jahmere teased his sister
(Congrats Zara. Don't mess up.)
"Cállete." Jahzara said as he left the room
(Shut up.)
"Don't worry baby. You'll be great. She already likes you. This is the perfect time to tell her." Aaron said
"I'll try." Jahzara said
"That's all I ask. Tell her. She'll feel the same." Aaron said with a smile before he left the room
Jahzara went to go lay back in her bed.
She was too excited. She was also nervous.
But she had to tell Carmén.
