"I exist for you. And I live for you. And I live to love you." -  Jaime McGuire

∘₊✧──────✧₊∘

As I reflect upon my life, I can't help but wonder why it can be so cruel at times. Why is there such a stark contrast between the rich and the poor? Why do some people possess strength and power while others seem destined to be weak and vulnerable? Amidst it all, I find myself questioning whether I am simply unlucky.

Is it natural to ponder these existential questions, to seek meaning in the imbalances and hardships that life presents? The world we inhabit often seems unjust, with an unequal distribution of wealth, resources, and opportunities. The reasons behind these disparities are complex and intertwined with historical, societal, and individual factors.

Now, I find myself wondering, would I be in this situation if I hadn't been born in district X? Would I have experienced all of this if I were strong and wealthy? I struggle to comprehend it all.

"Becky? You're awake!" Seng exclaimed, immediately calling for Mr. Kugimiya.

Am I still alive? Or am I half-dead? And why is Seng acting as if nothing happened to him?

I tried to sit up, but Freen motioned for me to stay still and patted my shoulder. I didn't realize she was also here. What happened to her girlfriend? Is she alright now?

"Where's Love?" I asked.

"She's at the mansion, resting," Freen replied, and I nodded.

"I'm glad you're okay," I said, mustering a small smile.

The image of her attacking me lingers in my mind. I don't know what happened to her or why she did that. She could have just talked to me first, but the way she looked at me that night made me feel like I was the enemy.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you," Freen apologized, her voice filled with sorrow. "I was just trying to draw some blood, and I didn't expect you to do that to yourself." Freen lowered her head, tears streaming down her face. She was sobbing.

"I'm fine. Please don't cry," I reassured her, reaching for her face and wiping away her tears. "I understand."

Why is it always like this? Why can't I stay angry at her for long? Seeing the strongest person in the university crying in front of me fills me with guilt.

"Please, don't do that again. I can't bear to lose you," Freen pleaded, leaning forward to hug me as she wept like a child. "Please, don't leave me."

"If your girlfriend heard you, she'd probably be mad," I told her when we broke apart. I wiped Freen's tears again and chuckled at her cuteness.

"Love and I broke up," Freen revealed, and my eyes widened. "The night before the party, I finally spoke to her for the first time, and nothing happened to her. I told her that I haven't been in love with her throughout the years we were together." Freen nervously played with her fingers.

"Years? You've been dating for years?" I asked, disbelief coloring my voice.

"Yes. Love's parents took care of me after my parents died, and they sent me here when I turned ten. I haven't left this place since then. Love joined this university and confessed her feelings towards me. I couldn't reject her because of what her parents did for me. I pretended to be happy with her because I thought I would die without experiencing genuine love." Freen's smile turned bitter. "I thought I would die without finding the person I would truly love for the rest of my life." Freen looked at me, reaching for my hands.

"What are you doing?" I asked

as she suddenly kissed the back of my hand.

"But then you came, Becky. I don't know what you did, but whenever I'm with you, I feel like a different person. It's as if I'm not the top-ranked student. It's as if the real me emerges." Freen's tears flowed again, so she looked up to hold them back. "I tried to suppress these feelings, Becky. I don't know if you feel the same or if you're just going along with it because you're afraid of me. But I want you to know that I genuinely like you. When I learned about the prophecy, I thought I could finally be with my family. But then you came, and everything changed. I won't die for you; I will do everything I can to live with you."

My heart skipped a beat as I listened to Freen's trembling confession. Overwhelmed by tenderness, I closed the distance between us. My hand gently cupped Freen's cheek, conveying a depth of emotion that words could never capture. It was a silent invitation, affirming my desire to explore this uncharted territory with her.

Time seemed to stand still as our lips met in a gentle, cautious kiss. It was a tender collision of emotions, devoid of any carnal desire. Instead, it spoke of a genuine connection, an intertwining of our souls. Our mouths moved together, dancing in harmony, as if they had always known this rhythm.

With each passing second, the kiss deepened, igniting a fire within me. It was a kiss that resonated with authenticity, a pure expression of the affection we held for each other. In that embrace, I felt a sense of acceptance and safety, as if we had discovered a love that defied societal expectations.

Our lips communicated what words couldn't convey. When we finally broke apart, our eyes locked, and a knowing smile graced my lips. The world around us faded into insignificance, leaving only the warmth of our connection. It was as if the universe had conspired to bring us together, to intertwine our lives in a beautiful tapestry of love.

"Live with me," I whispered, our foreheads still touching.

"I'll live for you," Freen smiled, giving me a delicate kiss that made me giggle.
