JIMIN POV
I didn't wakeup to an
empty bed.
That was certainly new.
I sat up against the pillows
and gazed down at the sweet Omega snoozing next to me.
It was wistful thinking but
I had somehow hoped that Jungkook would magically
turn back to human form
during the night.
Of course, he hadn't.
Certain scars ran deep and
he carried his share of them.
I didn't know what possessed
me to trace the harsh rake
mark across his face.
Under the morning light, it
even looked more awful
than I imagined.
I moved my gaze to his belly.
He wasn't even showing yet
but if I carefully pressed my hand against that area,
would I be able to hear
a tiny heartbeat?
Was it too soon for that?
A powerful image assailed me.
That of me, standing next to Jungkook in a nursery we
just painted together.
He and I would be in human
form and we'd be standing
next to the cot of a bawling baby.
Girl or boy, Alpha or Omega,
it didn't matter to me.
I'd loved the baby like he
or she was my own.
For a second, it hurt to
breathe because I knew some
one like me wasn't cut out
for parenthood much less
being someone's mate.
It took me a long time to
realize I was more than
just a killer.
I had the ability to care for
living creatures as well.
Jungkook opened his eyes.
For a second he hunched
over himself scared.
I didn't make any sudden movements.
"You're safe, No one can harm you anymore." I assured him.
Jungkook relaxed.
Someone knocked on my
door, None of us locked our doors here but at that
moment, I wished I did.
Jungkook curled closer to me.
Hobi opened the door,
carrying Jih in his arms.
Seeing the other Omega
seemed to relax Jungkook.
Hobi wasn't alone.
San peered over his shoulder.
Jungkook's friend sucked in
a breath when he saw us.
Jungkook left my side and padded to his friend, his movements tentative.
He whined at San, then
pushed his head against
his thigh.
San shook his head.
"It's okay, I forgive you
for running but please
never scare me like that
ever again." San brightened.
"I got to see the horses yesterday and one cute
alpaca."
"Want to see them with me today?"
"Let's all have breakfast
first." Hobi suggested.
"We have plenty of food downstairs."
"You guys go ahead." I said, knowing San and Jungkook probably wanted to catch up.
As San asked Hobi what
smelled good downstairs, Jungkook lingered by the door.
He looked at me.
What was he waiting for?
My permission?
Did he want to go together?
"I'll be right with you." I told
him and flashed him my
most reassuring smile.
Jungkook followed the
other two Omegas.
I got out of bed and pulled
on a comfy plain white shirt
and an old pair of jeans.
As I exited my room, Tae
waited for me.
I eyed my brother, who
looked worse for wear
than I was.
Scratches and healing
scars covered Tae.
Momentary guilt filled me.
I wanted to check on him yesterday but I forgot becos
I made caring for Jungkook
my number one priority.
Tae was a grown man, I reminded myself.
"You look like shit." I told him.
"Did you look at yourself in
the mirror lately?" He scoffed.
"Yoongi wants to talk to
both of us."
"Where? In his office?" I asked.
Calling the tiny room with a simple desk and table,
Yoongi's office was laughable.
It was more like a storage
space that had a wobbly
table and two plastic chairs.
Tae shook his head.
"In the yard."
"Good idea."
Three Alphas squeezed into
one tiny space was a recipe
for disaster.
We had to pass through the kitchen to get to the yard.
I was surprised we had a full house today.
Hobi and Jin occupied the
kitchen counter, feeding Jih
and Gia.
Jim, San and Nolan sat around the kitchen table, chatting.
Nolan sometimes helped the pack.
As guardians of the Moon
Woods, we had a ton of
territory to cover and we appreciated the additional
help.
Naturally the kitchen like
the rest of the house were
filled with animals.
"Hey guys."
"There's pancakes and
bacon." Jin said, spotting us.
"We'll eat after we talk
with yoongi." Tae said.
Tae walked right to the door, paused and saw me looking around the kitchen.
This much people couldn't
be good for Jungkook.
Someone nudged the backs
of my legs.
I turned around sighing in
relief when I spotted my
Omega.
Unthinkingly, I sunk my
fingers into his fur.
Jungkook licked at my fingers.
I beamed down at him.
"Your muzzle has syrup
on it." I said, wiping it away
with the hem of my shirt.
It took me a second to realize conversations had stopped.
Jungkook noticed it too.
He slunk to the corner where Sandy and her kittens were nestled then lay down,
resting his muzzle on his paws.
Jungkook didn't look at
anyone.
Conversations awkwardly resumed.
"Jimin, let's go." Tae said.
"Yoongi's get this talk over
with before the pancakes
get cold, I'm starving."
"Don't worry, We saved
plenty for you." Hobi said.
"Wait."
"Were those extra stacks of pancakes for him? Nolan
and I sort of ate them
all." Jim unhelpfully added.
Tae glowered at the warlock.
We finally made our way
outside.
Yoongi stood with his back
to us but I knew he was
aware of our arrival.
Nothing escaped our lead
Alpha.
"We're here." I announced.
"Let's get this all out in the open."
My stomach growled.
I was also hungry but what
I really wanted to do was get
a plate and maybe go some where private with Jungkook.
A short hike in the woods
would do both of us wonders.
It'll be just the two of us
as well.
I cared deeply for all my
pack mates but this was a personal matter.
