When I was a little girl, I always wanted to be a powerful Wizard. I wanted to be so strong that all the guilds wanted me to join.

When I was a little girl, the stories of my parents and their magical adventures always awed me.

I wanted that. I wanted the adventure, the danger, the excitment, and the love.

Now, I still want to be a Mage.

Now, I still dream of the possible adventures.

But now, I have almost given up.

It is beyond me how I ended up with no magical ability when both of my parents were Wizards themselves.

I try so hard.

It's frustrating.

I've tried magical weapons, and I couldn't get them to work for me.

I tried magic cards, and I couldn't do it.

I've tried everything.

It's as if my body denies magic, like it hates it.

I don't understand why though, magic is such a beautiful thing.

I sighed drumming my fingers against the counter.

I worked at a book store in Magnolia.

That's right.

Magnolia.

The home of the grand Fairy Tail.

I longed to join that guild.

I longed to be a Mage.

I longed for something more than just this.

But what can I do?

"Miss."

My gaze shot over to the woman holding a stack of books. She smiled at me, creases forming near her mouth.

I gently smiled back and straightened my posture, "Morning ma'am. Sorry for being spaced out like that."

"Oh no dear! It's fine!" Her smile spread and she set the books down.

I rung up the prices, "So ma'am, how has your morning been so far?" I smiled at her brightly.

"Oh, it's been just fine. Yours?"

"A little slow ma'am, but not absolutely dreadful. That'll be One Hundred Jewels please." I smiled politely.

"Oh one hundred..? Hm let me see.." She started to dig around in her purse and her face fell slightly. "I'm afraid I only have Sixty on me.."

I held up a finger and pulled my wallet out, digging out the remainder of the price, laying it on the table.

"Oh you don't have to do that!" The woman protested.

I shook my head smiling, "I didn't have to, but I wanted to. It's fine, really."

She smiled softly and placed the sixty jewel on the counter. I bagged her books up and carefully handed them to her.

"Thank you dear. I will pay you back sometime." She tipped her head smiling happily, "Have a good day!" With that she turned and left the store.

I sighed once more, there went the rest of the money I needed to pay rent.

I would have to apologize to my landlord and explain what happened.

I'll probably be scolded for being too kind, but oh well.

I placed the hundred jewel into the register, and closed it after words.

"(L/N), girl, what am I going to do with you?" The old man sighed after I had finished my story.

"My apologies..." I dipped my head.

"You need to get a more fulfilling job. Your boss under pays you, and you know it. You're just too sweet to say anything."

I nodded slightly, a frown edging it's way on to my face, "I know it's just... what I want to do, what I really want to do, I just can't do it."

"And why not (Y/N)?"

"Because I can't learn magic, you already knew that."

Silence swept over us, and the man chuckled softly, "Y'know when I was young, I wanted to join a guild too. I gave up on that dream though."

I raised my head to look at him, "Why?"

"Because I fell in love. That's besides the point, if you really want to become a Mage, don't give up. If it's what you are completely passionate about, don't throw away that dream. Chase it to the end."

I nodded and offered him a grin, "I will. I promise. I'll become a really strong Mage and join a guild, for both of us."

I unlocked the door to my apartment, shoving it open with my shoulder.

I shuffled inside closing the old door closed behind me, and locked it again.

I threw my keys on the broken, small table that I would eat at. One of the legs was being held together by the duct tape, and another had books propped under it. The wall paper was peeling, and the floor would sink in at certain places.

I walked over to my cot, and plopped down, the rusty springs squeaking from the sudden weighted applied to them.

The window near my head had ply wood covering most of it, but closest to my head there was a large enough crack for me to see the night sky through.

"Well... mom.... dad..... I made another promise I might not be able to keep. I really am foolish, but I think I get that from you, mother," I smiled softly, "And I get my kindness from you, father."

I sighed, eyelids drooping slightly, "I just wish I could have gotten some sort of magic, from either of you."

Through the crack I saw a blur of white streak across the sky, and I recognized it to be a shooting star.

Before I knew it, I had already made a wish, and I was drifting off.

Please, please, let me go on some sort of adventure..

The grass swayed gently around the female's feet as she walked through the meadow, hair blowing from the slight breeze.

The sky was a beautiful milky blue, and the delicate clouds were pure white.

The female stopped a few paces from a large figure, and sat down at the base of it's shadow.

There sat a dragon, in all it's might.

It's scales were a dark purple, accented with many different colors when touched by the light.

It's under belly was a light cream, stretching from it's jaw to the tip of its tail.

Ridges of sunset orange fading to a light pink decorated it's back in a straight row.

Two mighty white horns twisted from it's head, and it's pure white eyes held no detail what-so-ever.

A light pink mist was to infinitely cascade off of it's body, causing a fog in the air around it.

At the female's presence two black slits were now visible in the dragon's eyes.

"Denatrés, Dragon of Dreams." The female greeted with a small smile, but it faded, her face taking on a graver expression, "Break the seal."

The dragon seemed to sigh, billowing more light pink most from it's nose, "I'm afraid I can not quite yet, for a new path has been formed."

"Well you better do something quick, before true agitation sets in. Then the chance would be far passed us."

"Fret not, I do know what I am doing."

The female smiled again, then stood, "I trust you Denatrés, dearest friend."

The beast nodded once, then the mist began to take over the area, making it impossible to see anything past the fog.

The female didn't panic though, she simply closed her eyes and let the mist pull her into a comforting darkness.
