(Where we last left off)
Referee: (who arrives on the battlefield) here are the rules for this match, each trainer will be allowed 4 Pokémon there's no time limit or limit on switching Pokémon, the winner will be the one who leaves all 4 of their opponent's Pokémon unable to battle. Additionally, for this round a contestant can only use one of the following mechanics for this match, dynamax, a z move or mega evolution, once for this match! Now contestants please send your first Pokémon to the field! 3...2...1... go!
(A/N): I know I glossed over the rules in the end of the last chapter but I've been on a break since then and I've got to help my family with moving house so it's been tough so the least I can do after being gone for a while is give a refresher of the rules
Referee: Now contestants please send your first Pokémon to the field!
(We see both trainers get their pokeball ready)
Referee: 3...2...1... go!
Leon: let's go!
Steven: I choose you!
(They both throw their pokeballs as we see Steven sends out skarmory as we see Leon sends out Aegislash)
Commentator: and we see Steven has started with skarmory and Leon starts with seismitoad!
(We see Ash and (Y/N) as well as Iris as they've just got back to the crowd and got their seats)
Ash: a seismitoad?
(Y/N): I see he's trained even more Pokémon,
Ash: I bet they're just as strong too.
(Back to the battle)
Steven: okay skarmory let's start off with spikes!
(Skarmory has these spikes come put as they shoot out and disappear into the battlefield)
Leon: Aegislash use swords dance!
(Aegislash uses swords dance as it's attack increases)
Commentator: spikes are scattered all over the battlefield! Pokémon that can't fly will be in all sorts of trouble! Though Leon seems undeterred as Aegislash is increasing its power!
Steven: aerial ace!
(Skarmory used aerial ace as it heads towards Aegislash)
Leon: shadow sneak!
(Aegislash unsheathes itself as it disappears into the shadows as we see this shadow on the ground move and dodge and weave around on the ground as it reapers out of the shadow past skarmory as skarmory with its hawk like vision avoids the attack and then it turns around straight away and is locked on to Aeigislash)
Leon: iron head!
(Aegislash still unsheathed uses iron head as it charges in as both Pokémon attack and the moves clash as they separate)
Steven: steel wing!
(Skarmory flies back in with steel wing)
Leon: kings shield!
(Aegislash changes its stance and goes into its shield form and uses king shield as skarmory hits it but it does nothing and Skarmory's attack is reduced)
Commentator: and after that small scuffle Leon has changed plan and used kings shield now skarmory's attack power has been lessened!
Leon: now use iron head!
(Aegislash once again unsheathes itself and goes on the attack)
Steven: aerial ace one more time!
(Skarmory observing Aegislash as it then flies in with aerial ace towards Aegislash)
Leon: (smiling) it seems we're at a constant stalemate.
Steven: (smiling) I don't think so.
(We see skarmory looking at the unsheathed Aegislash as it looks straight at the weak point it noticed as it was observing the Aeigislash heading towards it as it waits until the last minute and avoids the iron head and then strikes the back of Aegislash as Aegislash begins falling but catches itself and stays afloat)
(At the stands)
Iris: woah they're pretty much even
(Y/N): for right now, it depends on who can get the advantage of this situation and use that momentum to keep them ahead in this battle
(Back to the battle)
Leon: nice move
Steven: don't underestimate skarmory's eyes
Leon: noted though we've only just warmed up, Aegislash iron head one more time!
(Aegislash uses iron head and heads towards skarmory)
Steven: aerial ace one more time
(Skarmory flies in with aerial ace head towards the weak point from earlier as they get closer)
Leon: shadow sneak now!
(Aegislash stops using iron head as it disappears into the shadows as it avoids skarmory's attack as it reappears and strikes skarmory in the back and flies away to get some distance but that doesn't stop skarmory who goes on the attack still)
Leon: kings shield!
(Aegislash uses kings shield as skarmory strikes it as its attack lowered further)
Commentator: it's happened again! Skarmory's attack is lowered further from kings shield!
Leon: now iron head!
(As soon as skarmory bounces and recoils back off the kings shield Aegislash unsheathes itself and uses iron head hitting skarmory directly as skarmory falls towards the ground but catches itself before it hits the ground as Leon returns Aegislash)
Leon: (gets out another Pokeball) I choose you! (He throws it as out comes rhyperior who is hurt by the spikes)
Commentator: and Leon seems to have switched out despite the momentum he and Aegislash were getting!
Steven: okay skarmory steel wing!
(Skarmory goes flying in with steel wing)
Leon: earthquake!
(Rhyperior used earthquake as the ground starts shaking as it gets hit with steel wing but it's still perfectly fine as it seems to have not even felt it as the earthquake rattled the battlefield as we see all the spikes on the battlefield begin breaking as we see this earthquake level the battlefield smoothing it out)
Commentator: WOAH! Such smart plays! Look at the battlefield! Leon and rhyperior took that hit so they could even the battlefield out!
Steven: now use toxic!
(Skarmory uses toxic as it hits rhyperior as he's hurt by poison)
Commentator: rhyperior's strength is about to start getting sucked ways more and more by that toxic, can Leon pull through and finish skarmory before the poison takes all of rhyperior's strength away.
(Back in the stands)
Iris: woah look at those to go.
Ash: Yeah they're both awesome
(Y/N): so toxic and spikes eh, I see you Steven.
Steven: steel wing one more time!
(Skarmory goes in for another steel wing)
Leon: grab it!
(Rhyperior grabs skarmory's wings and holds it in place successfully)
Leon: now use thunder punch!
(Rhyperior lets go of one of the wings as it's dust is coated in electricity as its fist slams into skarmory as whacks it away as it lets go of its other wing as skarmory hits the ground unable to battle as we see it's hurt more by poison as the crowd erupt)
Commentator: and Leon gets the first knock out as skarmory is down and out!
Steven: return (returns skarmory) you were great (gets out another Pokeball) let's go! (He sends out aggron)
Leon: earthquake!
(Rhyperior used earthquake as the ground begins to shake again)
Steven: heavy slam!
(Aggron uses heavy slam and jumps up into the air and then lunges at rhyperior as it stays off the floor as if the floor was lava or something and slams into rhyperior as rhyperior is knocked back as it skids back as it takes more damage from toxic)
Steven: now smart strike!
(Aggron uses smart strike and heads towards rhyperior)
Leon: thunder punch!
(Rhyperior uses thunder punch as it clashes with smart strike as rhyperior loses the altercation as aggron causes rhyperior to get knocked back and land on it's back as it takes more damage from toxic as we see it's heavily damaged)
Commentator: aggron is just completely overpowering Rhyperior! What incredible feats of strength!
Steven: let's finish this with heavy slam!
(Aggron leaps and uses heavy slam once more and in the air lunges and darts towards rhyperior)
Leon: hammer arm!
(Rhyperior's arm glows orange as it uses hammer arm as the two moves clash as there's a huge impact and strong winds blow out upon impact as we see aggron sent flying back as it flips around and lands on its feet as it skids back as we see it's damaged a lot but we see rhyperior on the ground unable to battle)
Commentator: and it's scored back evenly now as rhyperior go down but rhyperior has definitely left its mark!
Leon: rhyperior return! (Returns rhyperior) have a nice rest, you did great. (Gets out another Pokeball) I choose you! (He throws another Pokeball out as out comes a seismitoad)
(We see Steven go to return aggron but we see him think against it and put the pokeball back)
Leon: (notices it) you gonna switch out?
Steven: maybe, we'll have to see.
Steven thoughts: I wanna see what this seismitoad has before I bring in cradily.
Leon: you don't wanna come to us, then we'll come to you! Use liquidation!
(Seismitoad then rushes in and uses liquidation)
Steven: use smart strike!
(Aggron uses smart strike and goes straight towards seismitoad as the moves clash but we see seismitoad get knocked back)
Leon: I see, okay seismitoad use rain dance!
(Seismitoad uses rain dance as a weather cloud begins to form as dark clouds appear and it begins raining)
Commentator: as seismitoad uses rain dance rain drenched the battlefield and its water type attacks will be more powered up!
Steven: no you don't aggron use rock tomb!
(Aggron fires out rock tomb as they head towards seismitoad)
Leon: use liquidation!
(Seismitoad uses liquidation as it begins running towards aggron as its significantly faster as it avoids the rock tombs with ease)
(At the stands)
(Y/N): it's swift swim.
Iris: what did you say?
(Y/N): swift swim, that's seismitoad's ability, not only does rain boost the attach power of water type moves but also if Pokemon with swift swim are in the rain they move much faster than usual
Ash: yeah, my buizel has swift swim too.
(Back to the battlefield)
Steven: hyper beam!
(Aggron begins charging up hyper beam but we see seismitoad has reached aggron before it can fully charge it as it delivers a devastating liquidation as aggron is hit and we see it fall to the ground unable to battle)
Steven: it's much stronger than I expected. Aggron return (returns aggron) thank you.
Steven thoughts: I'm still unsure what it has but I'm gonna have to risk it.
Steven: (We see him get out another Pokeball) I choose you! (We see him send out cradily)
Steven: ingrain!
(We see cradily begin to plant its roots into the ground)
Leon: liquidation!
(Seismitoad charges in and uses liquidation as it hits cradily but it looks like it did literally nothing as we then see it get stronger)
Leon: storm drain!
Commentator: storm drain is an ability cradily can get and it completely nullifies water type attacks as those will only make Pokémon with storm drain even stronger!
(At the stands)
Iris: that was pretty clever
(Y/N): yeah it completely nullifies cradily's neutrality to water, it's better to have one immunity rather than none.
Iris: such a scary ability to go up against especially if you don't see it coming
(Y/N): Though I'm wondering why he didn't send it out sooner
Ash: if I had to guess, I'd say he's not sure what tricks Leon and seismitoad have up their sleeve.
(Y/N): you know what, I think you're right.
(Back to the battle)
Steven: that's right, now use power whip!
Leon: dodge it!
(Cradily's tentacles glow green and extend out as seismitoad is jumping and running and trying to evade as the power whips pursue it as it manages to get one of seismitoad's arms)
Leon: Earth power!
(As cradily begins to pummel seismitoad with lots of power whips as it gets about three off we see seismitoad stomp the ground as the ground beneath cradily rises and earth power hits as it stops the relentless onslaught of power whips as we see cradily still has its ingrain active as it backflips and lands on the ground as the roots plant into the ground once again and is healing)
Commentator: and seismitoad just narrowly escapes certain doom!
Steven: rock blast!
(Cradily uses rock blast as it begins firing at seismitoad as it begins dodging and avoiding them)
Steven: meteor beam!
(Cradily transitions flawlessly and begins charging meteor beam as its special attack is increased more)
Leon: drain punch!
(Seismitoad rushes in with drain punch as cradily fires the meteor beam which hits seismitoad as we see the rain dance end but we see seismitoad has reached cradily and punches it and drains some energy back)
Commentor: as the battlefield goes back to normal we see both Pokémon have landed a hit, especially seismitoad with a super effective drain punch!
Steven: power whip!
(We see cradily still fine as it uses power whip as seismitoad tried to avoid it but it's too close now so it's grabbed with ease as it gets pummelled with power whips as on the last one it get sent flying back as we see it land on it's back and is unable to battle as we see cradily damaged a lot but we see it starting to heal a little with the ingrain)
Commentator: and now both trainers are down 2 each! Though Steven definitely has the advantage.
Leon: return! (Returns seismitoad) you were great. (Gets out another Pokeball) Aeigislash let's give another crack at this! (Sends Aegislash back out as we see it's still a little tired from the other battle with skarmory)
Steven: power whip!
(Cradily begins using power whip as it heads towards Aegislash)
Leon: iron head!
(Aegislash changes stance as it heads towards cradily with iron but is also heading straight towards the power whips)
Leon: and slash those power whips clean off!
(We see Aegislash's rotate as it slices at all the power ships with it's blade end and cuts them up with ease as it gets close)
Commentator: Aegislash just cuts the power whips like they're weeds!
(Aegislash rotates back around and hits cradily directly in the face but we see one if the power whips re-extend out as cradily is falling as it strikes Aegislash in the back as it falls to the ground too as we see cradily is unable to battle as we see Aegislash face down and not moving)
Commentator: are both Pokémon down for the count!
(The referee flies down on his Aegislash to look as we see cradily is definitely down but we see Aegislash very slowly get back up as we see it's heavily damaged and on it's last legs as the referee flies back up)
Commentator: and Aegislash has barely just got back up! Meaning Leon has taken the lead with Steven only having 1 pokemon left!
Steven: (he returns cradily) thanks a lot (gets out another Pokeball) it's down to you metagross! (He sends out metagross)
Commentator: and outcomes Steven's ace Pokémon!
Steven: bullet punch!
(Metagross rockets towards Aegislash as its significantly faster than last time)
Leon: we won't let you get that first strike in, kings shield!
(Aegislash gets ready to go back into its shield stance form)
Steven: who said we were aiming for you. Now use it on that shield
(We see metagross reach Aegislash as it uses bullet punch on the shield as knocks it out of Aegislash's grasp and hits it away)
Commentator: mega goes is too fast that it knocked Aegislash's shield away and it is now unable to use kings shield!
Leon: shadow sneak!
(Aegislash disappears into the shadows as it heads towards its shield)
Steven: knock it far away!
(Metagross with is insanely fast speed heads and arrives at the shied as the shadow approaches close as we see metagross hit the shield as it goes flying up into the air as the shadow along the ground can't reach it but we do see the shadow turn and try and get behind metagross)
Leon: now!
(Aegislash appears behind metagross)
Steven: meteor mash!
(We see metagross still with its back turned as Aegislash goes to strike but before it can metagross practically disappears as Aegislash disappears as we see metagross appear behind Aegislash with its two front arms in position ready as Aegislash turns around only to be met face first by metagross' two gang metals arms and sent flying back as its shield hits the ground and Aegislash lands on top of the shield and we see it's unable to battle)
Commentator: and Aegislash is down! Metagross is on another level!
(At the stands)
Iris: that was so one sided (sweating slightly)
(Y/N): to be fair Aegislash was worn out from its previous two battles
Ash: still, metagross is so much stronger than before, with that sort of speed I'd say it doesn't have agility anymore.
(Y/N): we'll just have to see.
(Back to the battle)
Leon: Aegislash return! (Returns Aegislash) thanks a whole bunch (he then gets out his last pokeball) charizard you're up! (He throws the ball as out comes charizard as it lands and roars)
Commentator: and here comes charizard!
Steven: meteor mash!
(Metagross travels at fast speeds towards charizard)
Leon: dig!
(Charizard uses dig and goes underground avoiding metagross)
Steven: flash cannon!
(Metagross looks at the ground and fires flash cannon)
Leon: flamethrower!
(As metagross fired at the ground charizard pops out as the flash cannon hits the ground where charizard was as charizard fires a flamethrower as metagross dodges)
Commentator: what a sequence of events! Both Pokémon countering each other from the dig to the flash cannon since it knew where charizard was to the flamethrower!
Leon: air slash!
(Charizard without missing a beat uses air slash)
Steven: bullet punch!
(Metagross uses bullet punch hitting and destroying all the air slashes)
Steven: psychic!
(Metagross uses psychic as charizard can't move and it's flung to the wall but we see charizard manages to break free and backflips so it's feet are touching the wall)
Leon: flame charge!
(Charizard with it's feet jumps off the wall and gets back into flight as it's surrounded by fire as it approaches metagross who dodges)
Leon: flame charge again!
(The fire around charizard burns hotter as charizard is faster now and as metagross dodges it gets grazed on one of big legs as metagross feels that)
Steven: meteor mash!
(Metagross uses meteor mash as it hangs in there and hits charizard right in the face with its two front big legs as charizard goes falling but readjusts itself instantaneously as it lands on the ground as metagross lands on the ground too as Steven begins to move his hand up to his face, the one with his mega ring on it)
Steven: sparkling stone give our bond form! (Activates it as the mega stone on one of metagross' front right leg activates as the blue energy connects up with the keystone's energy) now metagross, mega evolve! (Metagross mega evolves into mega metagross as the crowd cheer loudly)
Commentator: and Steven has used mega evolution as mega metagross now smelters the battle! He must be trying to wrap this one up quick!
Steven: bullet punch!
Leon: flame charge!
(Charizard uses flame charge as mega metagross waits for charizard to come to it as charizard makes multiple attempts to hit mega metagross with flame charge as each attempt gets faster but mega metagross still dodges with ease as mega metagross delivers loads of bullet punches on charizard)
Steven: now meteor mash!
(Mega metagross uses meteor mash hitting charizard as charizard skids back as charizard looks at Leon who nods as he returns charizard to it's pokeball)
(At the stands)
Ash: here it comes.
(Iris and (Y/N) nod)
(Back to the battle)
Leon: (activates dynamax band) let's have a champion time! (We see the pokeball grows larger) gigantamax! (Throws it as the pokeball opens and out comes gigantamax charizard as the crowd cheer loudly as its now mega metagross vs gmax charizard)
Commentator: Leon has used gigantmax and here is gigantamax charizard!
Steven: here it comes metagross (mega metagross is ready) meteor mash!
Leon: max airstream!
(Gmax charizard uses max airstream as mega metagross is caught in it)
Steven: ride the stream!
(We see mega metagross traversing through the max airstream even if it's getting damaged slightly as it delivers a meteor mash to gmax charizard as the max airstream stops as gmax charizard's speed increases)
Commentator: look at mega metagross that's what Ash did in his battle with Cynthia in the last masters 8 tournament!
Leon: one more time!
(Gmax charizard uses max airstream once again)
Steven: psychic!
(Mega metagross uses psychic as it takes control of the max airstream as it redirects it so it hits gmax charizard who skids back slightly from the attack)
Commentor: it has repelled it all back!
Leon: now gmax wildfire!
(Gmax charizard shoots off its wings as it uses gmax wildfire as it heads towards mega metagross who just stops using psychic since the max airstream has gone away as it evades the wings as the wings give chase as they catch up and hit mega metagross as they swoop back around amd do the classical three hit combo as they go back to gmax charizard as gmax charizard shrinks back down and becomes regular charizard as we see mega metagross on the ground as we see it slowly get back up though it's heavily damaged)
Commentor: it was hit with charizard's devastating move YET IT STILL STANDS!
Leon: flame charge!
(Charizard is surrounded by fire and gets even faster)
Steven: psychic!
(Mega metagross manages to just use psychic in time as we see when charizard is caught by the psychic it was millimetres away from connecting to metagross as it uses psychic and slams charizard into the ground as charizard gets back up no problem and barely seems bothered for right now as we see Leon smirking as Steven sees this and is confused as we then see this big burst out of fire emit from mega metagross as it falls to the ground and goes back to regular metagross as it's unable to battle)
Referee: metagross is unable to battle, charizard wins meaning champion Leon has won this battle!
(The crowd are applauding as we see Leon and charizard walk over to Steven)
Steven: (walks up to metagross) you gave it your all, have a nice rest (returns metagross as Leon and charizard approach him)
Leon: (holds his hand out) that was an awesome match
Steven: (takes his hand) you certainly do have some surprises, I wasn't expecting that last part.
Leon: take it as a compliment, that's the after effects of gmax wildfire but that's rarely ever seen nowadays since not many people can last and hang on but you did just that.
(They let go and head off back to the sides of the stage they emerged from)
(We see from the stands (Y/N) get up and rush off)
Ash: go on (Y/N), you've got this!
(Y/N) as he's running gives a thumbs up in response)
(We cut to Cynthia walking down a hallway to the battlefield)
Cynthia thoughts: I've been looking forward to this battle for a long time, let's see how much you've grown and how different our battle here will be to our last one.
(We see a flashback freeze frame of (Y/N) during his travels in Sinnoh, versus Cynthia as we see Dragonite and garchomp)
Announcer : and the final match of the first round of this year's masters 8 tournament is about to begin as on one side we have, ranked 3rd, the queen of Sinnoh, the Sinnoh champion, Cynthia!
(We see Cynthia walking out as she's as cool, calm and collected as she always is)
Announcer: and on the other side, we have the currently 7th ranked trainer, he's the current champion of Johto, (Y/N) (L/N)!
(We see him walk out as he's grinning and excited as both trainers reach the platform as the referee explains the rules as both trainers reach their places)
(A/N): I'm sure you know what the rules are by now, I can't be bothered typing them out again
Cynthia: this has been a match I've been looking forward to.
(Y/N): (grins) same here.
Cynthia: so, champion of Johto now huh.
(Y/N): I was training some more greener Pokémon and I wanted to put them up a massive challenge and what better way than a full battle against Lance.
Cynthia: good to see after all this time that drive and passion of yours has not extinguished, if anything it's only burned even more to an indefatigable inferno.
(Y/N): I've hit rough spots before but I'll never waver, no more! (He gains a massive grin on his face once again) I'm all fired up!
(We see a flashback of him during his travels in Sinnoh)
(Y/N): (has a massive grin on his face) I'm all fired up!
Referee: Now contestants please send your first Pokémon to the field!
(We see both trainers get their pokeball ready)

(A/N): only took me a while and I apologise for that it's just I've been busy with moving and stuff (I've done with that now) and the fact I've had no motivation for this part just because this matchup felt so boring and uninteresting to me so I tried to speed through it while at least trying to make it interesting without Leon sweeping Steven's team with only like 2 Pokemon, hence why I introduced these new Pokemon for him which are also Pokemon he has in the games but that didn't work either.
