~Tate's Point Of View~
Ma and Pa were having a BBQ at their house. Erin and I moved out and found a nice little place closer to both of our jobs. It may not be as big as theirs or Bo's but I really like it. Erin also wanted to decorate most of it besides my man cave in the basement and we both decided on our room.
Kendyl is about to burst any day now. She is a week shy of her due date. We all found out about two and a half months ago that they were having a boy. There is going to be another man in the Bryan Clan. I couldn't help but smile seeing the ultrasound and being unable to wait for the day I'd be able to have a kid. I can only imagine all the joy Bo is going to have now that he'll have his own little fishing and sports buddy.
Erin and I have been really great. Since we had our own place everything seemed even better. I've stayed away from the booze except for parties like this but I would not get trashed. I think New Years and my birthday are the only days I do and Erin is fine with it. Our jobs are also doing great. She was teacher of the year already. Since being with Erin, I haven't had one doubt in my mind that I would want another woman.
Everyone was here and having fun. Bo and my dad were grilling. Bailee had her boyfriend hanging around her the whole time so she basically wasn't doing much. Erin was helping mama with the drinks and talking to everyone. Kendyl was sitting near the grill. Bryson was holding onto the baby while Brandy was probably helping my ma. Kendyl's family was here along with Erin's mom. Then a few of my dad's friends and Bo's were here.
I sipped on my first beer of the night just sitting by the fire pit. It was not dark yet but I wanted to clear my head. I had a huge plan and I wanted to make sure everything was going to go right. Mama knew what I was going to do
I felt hands go on my shoulders and slide down my neck. Then a kiss was placed on my cheek. I knew it was Erin. I grabbed her one hand and brought it to my lips kissing it lightly.
"How's helping mama?" I asked her. She moved and then came and sat on my lap.
"Good. We were laughing our asses off like normal. Women talk ya know." She said. I just smiled and nodded. "Why are you all by yourself babe?" She asked.
"Started to get a slight head ache out of nowhere. Came over here since it is a little quieter. It's gone now so I can head back but now that you're here." I said covering my ass from thinking. I leaned closer and she pushed my chest back to the chair.
"Oh no no Tate. We are at your parents in the open with other people around. You only get a little." She smirked and leaned in kissing my lips and pulley away as quick as it started. I frowned as she stood up. "Come on. Socialize. Talking to a camera to people over television is not socializing all week." I chuckled.
"I know." I said getting up and putting my arm around her.
We went and talked to a few people and then I walked off to talk to Bo. He was standing behind Kendyl with his hands on her stomach. He was talking to Steven. I walked up and Kendyl looked at me and smiled before looking back at Steven who was talking. I stayed quiet during the conversation until Steven got a call and walked off.
"What's going on Tate?" Bo asked smiling
"Just getting around and talking to people. Erin got me out of my none social moment and made me go be social." I shrugged.
"You're normally the most social person at a party. You alright?" Kendyl asked.
"Just have something on my mind. Nothing bad. I didn't do anything." I let them know that much. Bo just nodded.
"Keeping a secret are we? I'll find out soon enough. You were never one to keep secrets for long." Bo said. I then had an idea to mess with him.
"Yeah. Surprisingly I kept this from everyone for years." I shrugged. I put my hand on my hip and sipped my beer. Bo just raised his eye brow on me.
"I got to know, what is it?" Kendyl asked.
"What the hell are you keeping a secret?" Bo asked.
"I think I got to break up with Erin..." I said looking back to see Erin sitting next to a bunch of people.
"Why? Are you not happy?"
"You two just recently moved in." Kendyl said.
"I... Well... You know my co-worker David right?" I asked. They both nodded. "Well he and I went out drinking. I didn't get drunk. David started to talk to me about how hot the bar tender was. I just looked at the bar tender and was confused at why he said that. Then he kept going and naming things and I checked everything out. Then I just started to feel compelled to talk to the bar tender. One thing led to another and the bar tender and I ended up in the bathroom." I put my head down.
"You didn't." Kendyl said shocked.
"I thought you... You said she was the one?" Bo asked confused.
"You don't get it." I said running my hand through my hair. "The bartender's name was Josh." I said.
"That's an odd name for a girl." Kendyl said not getting it. I looked at them and Bo just stared me down.
"It's not a girl Kendyl." Bo said blankly. Kendyl's eyes got wide.
"You had sex with a man?" Kendyl asked kind of loud. I hushed her.
"I ... You always ... A man?" Bo asked. I tried to stay serious but lost it. I busted out laughing loud.
"Oh my. Look at you two. I can't believe you think I'd ever leave Erin. Especially to a man. Dude, no offense to any homosexual person but that's not for me. Boobs, ass, and sweet old womanly nectar are what I love." Kendyl slapped my arm hard.
"Asshole." She mumbled I laughed.
"I knew you were messing with us. I could not understand any of this." Bo smirked. "You did have us though. Acting is totally your thing Tate."
"I know. Thank you thanks you." I said bowing.
"So speaking of you and Erin." Kendyl said hitting her foot to mine. "You staying for the long haul?"
"Yeah." I told her. I think I know where she was going.
"Where's that beautiful diamond ring then?" She asked. I shrugged.
"Kendyl he'll do it in time. Don't pester the boy. Takes major balls to do it man. Especially in the right setting you know she would love. Erin is such a people's person; in front of everyone is the greatest idea."
"That's how I'd plan on doing it. Probably on her birthday or something." I told them.
"Isn't that soon?" Kendyl asked. I nodded.
"Two weeks." I answered.
We talked for a while longer until my stomach let me know I needed to eat. I went and got Erin to see if she was hungry. Thankfully she was so we both got food and sat around. Ma and Pa were eating with us. I smiled at Erin a few times getting on in return.
A few hours passed and the sun was just going down. I knew it was the right time. I had to make this announcement and get everyone's attention. I walked up to the deck and cleared my throat. No one was looking my way.
"Hey! Everybody! Look at me! No I'm not going to tell you the news now come on!" I yelled. I saw everyone starting to look at me. "Gather around everyone. Get closer so I don't have to keep yelling." I said. I heard a few people laugh. I looked at my mom and she grabbed onto my father and pulled him close. Once everyone was close I looked for Erin who was right in the middle front.
"Get on with the news boy so we can drink." I heard Jason say. I looked at him and shook my head.
"It's not news Jason. Erin come up here." I told her. She just looked at me weird and slowly walked up.
"Tate what are you doing?" She asked me in a whisper. I smirked and grabbed both of her hands.
"Everyone, you all know my beautiful girlfriend Erin." I said looking at them and smiling. "Also all of you known that I've actually had a girlfriend for a very long time now and have stayed faithful. I've quit being that alcoholic at the party and I've also controlled my anger. I have to give some of the credit to myself but most of it to her. Thanks to her I'm no longer the... sorry mama..." I said looking at her. "The asshole of the party. Erin babe, you've changed me around to see the light and now that I'm there I want to continue this life with you forever." I told her. I went down on one knee and she instantly teared up. Her hands were over her mouth and she was trying to not make a crying noise. "Erin Lesley Jackson, you're the best woman I've ever met and the only woman I have felt this strongly about. I didn't have any second doubts about asking you this but how was the hardest part till I remembered how you would love it. Now please do me the honors in marrying me?" I asked her.
Her tear stained face with her makeup running all down it just nodded up and down quickly. I smirked. She quickly pulled away her hands and said yes before leaning down and kissing me. I quickly slipped the ring onto her finger and the stood up grabbing her and kissing her. People were staring at us. There was a bunch of clapping and yelling. When I let go of Erin I tried to wipe away the smudged make up she had on. She just looked up at me with a smile I've never really seen before.
"I love you baby." I told her moving hair out of her face.
"I love you too babe." She smirked hugging me tight. I looked at everyone.
"We're gonna get wrecked!" I yelled. Everyone cheered.
Erin and I got off of the deck and had people come up to us congratulating us. My Pa came up to me and shook my hand. He told me how proud he is of me throughout my life. I couldn't help but smile. My mama was checking out the ring with Erin's mama. I saw other girls surrounding them one being Kendyl. Bo walked over to me and gave a huge hug.
Everyone had their turns of talking to me and hugging me. I really wanted to leave after a while. I know Erin loved it. She wanted to stay a while longer so I brought her over to the bonfire and had her sit on my lap. Every once in a while she'd turn and hug me.
Soon we were able to say our goodbyes and head home.
