*Brielle's POV*
Devin and Tyler were annoying me to no end as we made our way to the pack house. It seemed that my lack of a reaction egged them on more. They were lucky I had a lot of patience and didn't want to cause a scene. I would have beat their asses long ago. I can see the amusement in Uncle Levi's eyes as he watched them, not bothering to stop them from harassing me.
As soon as we stepped inside the pack house, Vivian came rushing over to me and pulling me into a tight embrace. For someone so small, she was really strong as she was basically suffocating me in her arms.
"Oh Brielle, I've missed you so much. I haven't seen you in years and my have you grown. You are such a beautiful young lady now and not to mention an Alpha!" Vivian squealed in delight.
Vivian Stephens is the best friend of Devin's late mother. I had met her long ago when she visited our pack with Uncle Levi. She had found her mate in our pack and he had decided to join the Crescent pack as Vivian didn't want to leave Devin alone. Unfortunately, he was one of the few who lost their lives 3 years ago on that dreadful day. He was over that day to visit his family who still resided in our pack. Despite losing her mate, Vivian continued to be her bubbly self with the help of my Uncle. He sympathized with her since he too didn't have a mate. I, along with all of our close ones, are rooting for them to be chosen mates.
"Aunt Viv, let her breathe well ya," Devin intercepts as he gently pulls her away from me.
I shot him a grateful look as I felt my lungs refill with air.
"Oh I'm sorry dear. I've just missed you. We need to catch up on a lot of girl talk," she stated before excusing herself to the kitchen.
Viv was also in on the secret. Since all of my pack members knew and were sworn to secrecy, he had asked our permission to tell her. My parents thought it over and granted him permission since they didn't want their relationship to hold any secrets. Just for safety measures, she was also sworn in to never speak of this to anyone.
"Alright, let's head to my office and talk. I want to be done by dinner time," Uncle Levi says as he leads the way.
Fate just loves to meddle in my life, because as soon as I turn the corner I smack hard into a chest that shoots tingle across my body. I feel hands grab my shoulder to steady me. I glance up to see it is Alpha Peirce who I have crashed into. I don't know if I was better off hoping for Aaron or him. His intense blue eyes look down at me in wonder. Before he can say anything, I sidestep him and scurry away to try and catch up with the guys. I pray they didn't catch that awkward interaction. It seems they didn't as they continue talking amongst themselves as we walk into Uncle Levi's office.
'What the hell was that?!' Freya exclaims.
'What?' I play dumb, knowing exactly what she's on about.
'You running away from Alpha Peirce like a scared pup! Bri, you give me second hand embarrassment,' Freya expresses.
'I panicked ok! I still don't know what this feeling is towards him and the last thing I need is the guys figuring it out. I already have to have an awkward talk about Aaron with Uncle Levi, I don't need to dwell into this thing with Alpha Peirce,' I explain.
'Just please, for the both of us, next time act more civilized and like an actual Alpha. We don't need to have people thinking we don't know how to act. They have enough of that with Miller.'
'Yeah yeah. I know and I will.'
With that I close the link and take a seat across from Uncle Levi. I glance up to see them all looking at me expectantly.
"What?"
"Well, we are waiting for you to fill us in on what happened with Miller," Uncle Levi voices.
"Oh now he's just Miller?" I ask, trying to prolong this conversation as much as I can.
"We all call him Miller when he's not around. None of us view him as a true Alpha. We just call him by his title in his presence out of respect as to not cause any unnecessary arguments. The only one who doesn't care and calls him Miller to his face is Alpha Peirce," he explains.
I can't help but flinch at the mention of him. If my uncle noticed, he didn't show it.
"Now get on with your explanation and stop trying to stall," Devin cuts in.
"Fine. I guess I should start from the beginning," I cave.
They all lean forward in eagerness, even Tyler and Adrian who already know the story. I go on to explain, starting from Aaron rejecting me 3 years ago up until just recently. I watched their facial expressions change between mixes of anger, protectiveness, and worst of all, sympathy. My uncle especially, had a murderous glint in his eyes when I got to the part of what went down before the meeting.
"That lowlife piece of shit! How dare he reject my niece. I knew he was brainless, but I had hope there was some sense in that boy!" Uncle Levi ranted. "Oh when I get my claws on him he's going to wish he never uttered a word towards you."
"That's not needed Uncle Levi. Everything is taken care of now," I assure.
"Doesn't mean I don't want to kick his stupid face in," he mutters childishly.
"That's what I said! She didn't let me go through with it though," Tyler voices.
"I'd like to hop on the, Beat Miller's Ass, train," Devin chimes in as he and Tyler share a high five. Boys.
"I said no. There is no need to start anything up. I've dealt with Aaron already. Ok?"
"Fine," they all reply in sync.
"Thank you."
"So, you and Alpha Peirce huh?" Devin implies, wiggly his eyebrows suggestively.
"What are you talking about?" I reply nervously. I feel heat creeping up my neck at the mention of him.
"Oh, you thought we didn't catch that little interaction just now? We saw it all," Tyler teases and Adrian lets out a chuckle.
"We did see it all and I must say I'm disappointed. Why the hell did you just run away with your tail tucked between your legs?!" Uncle Levi exclaims.
'So much for not talking to them about it,' Freya chimes in mockingly.
'Oh shut up,' I reply before blocking her out. I could still her laughing at me in the back of my mind.
"There isn't much to say," I insist "Honestly, I was just embarrassed for running into him considering his reputation."
"You, the Blood Alpha, was intimated by his reputation," Devin deadpanned, giving me an 'are you kidding me' look.
"Why don't we talk about the romance brewing between Uncle Levi and Viv, hmm?" I derail the conversation.
"There is no romance brewing," Uncle Levi denies, a blush creeping up his neck.
"Come on Dad, we all know you have the hots for Aunt Viv," Devin joins.
"I think everyone knows already, it's just you two who are in denial," Tyler states as Adrian nods along in agreement.
"I don't see why you don't ask her out already. You both deserve this," I declare.
"I'm not going to talk about my love life with you kids," he huffs.
"Alright, don't get your panties in a twist," Tyler jokes.
"So, when is Devin going to take over?" I ask, changing to subject for his sake.
"Very soon. We still have a bit to go over before he's fully ready."
"It was a good idea for you to make him your Beta for now. This way he can gain more knowledge and he'll already have some hands on experience," I comment.
"Yeah, I think so too. I feel ready, but I'll wait for my turn to come. I trust in Dad's judgement," Devin agrees.
A knock on the door catches our attention, seizing our conversation. Suddenly, Tyler is up and out of his seat as he bolts for the door swinging it open. In his eagerness, he managed to rip the door of its hinges. Standing on the other side was a beautiful girl, her fist still raised midair. Her face held a startled look, but her eyes shined bright in recognition. Without a second thought, Tyler pulled the girl into his arms causing her to let out a small yelp. They both chuckled before he presses his lips onto hers as they began to make out. We all snapped our heads in the opposite direction feeling uncomfortable. After a few minutes of them going at it, my Uncle clears his throat, causing them to pull apart.
"Sorry Alpha," the girl apologizes, her cheeks tinted red with embarrassment.
"I'm assuming you two are mates?" My Uncle asks knowingly.
"Yes Alpha," the girl replies shyly.
Tyler kept his gaze on her the whole time, a love struck look in his eyes. I feel pride and joy warm my chest at the sight. I know Tyler has been waiting for this moment since we were kids. He always talked about meeting his mate and all the things he would do for them. Unlike other male wolves, he did stay loyal to her. Never even flirting with another she-wolf that wasn't his mate. I just hope this girl loves him unconditionally, but with the look in her eyes as she looks up at him, I don't think that will be an issue.
'Congratulations Ty. I'm happy for you,' I link.
'Thanks Bri. Can I-'
'Yes, go ahead,' I cut in.
With that, Tyler grabs her hand as he leads her away to get to know one another.
"You better fix my door after!" Uncle Levi shouts after him, but they were already long gone. He just shakes his head, but I catch the grin on his face.
"What the heck happened here," Viv asks as she looks from us to the door laying on the floor.
"Love is what happened," I answer.
Although I am happy for Tyler, I must admit I am envious of him. That's how I wished for my interaction to have been with my mate, but I guess love isn't on the cards for me. At least one of us gets to be happy next to their other halves.
