The Creek

"I keep going to the river to pray.."

~~~~~
I had to get away,
so I went up in the mountains by the creek to pray,
to just say thank you to my Lord up there,
and breathe in some clear mountain air.
I parked my truck by that old tree and did,
what I used to do when I was a kid,
I climbed the tree and closed my eyes,
laughing at the valley below's disguise.
I sat in my tree for a while,
sighed as I pondered, looked out for miles,
wondering if I made the right decision that day,
I wasn't sure, so I went down to the creek to pray.
"A bit of guidance is all I need," I start to say,
"Lord, did I do the right thing that day?
Was it right of me to do that to him that way?
Later in life, for that, will I pay?"
The creek doesn't answer, but in a way, it does,
it responds back with the sound of water, a subtle buzz,
telling me everything's gonna be alright,
he'll find his way back, in his darkness, he'll see light.
It comforts me, and it soothes me,
and even though the creek's words may not be,
I believe it as fact,
let's leave it at that.
I soak my hands in the water, thank the Lord for his time,
soak my feet in the water, thank the water for it's kind,
get in my truck, parked by that tree,
reminded that his promise, may just be.
