Mount Olympus
Persephone ran to the only place she could think of, Mount Olympus. Standing in all its glory. A place that turned its back on her once she ran into the arms of her lover. Now she's running away and with a child in her arms. What will they think? What will they do? Will they punish her for having a child with the king of the underworld? Deem the child evil for her father's actions? Maybe they will help her. After all Persephone did help them fight against Hades but they couldn't forget the "love" that the couple shared. Many of the Gods didn't believe it was love. Her mother tried many of times to separate them but nothing worked. Aphrodite and Eros had both seen the love bond between them but none of the other Gods cared about their opinion.
Persephone look down at the baby in her arms. Sleeping peacefully not knowing that risking everything for their future safety. Persephone had just given birth and was feeling drained out but remembering the baby in her arms she knew she had to keep going.
Thinking about what her mother would do, the young goddess couldn't help but worry. She hadn't seen her mother in years and yes she knows that her mother hates the underworld but she would think during the 6 months on earth she would see her somewhere. Last time she saw her mother, she was living with her half sisters. Demigoddesses who weren't worth of their name. Anastasia and Drizella. They also lived with a young woman named Ella or Cinderella as her mother and sisters would call her. She never understood why they treated her so badly. Whenever she saw the poor girl she would do her best to help her clean, cook, and sew. Mostly in the shadows so she wouldn't get caught. She had brought up the mistreatment of Ella to her mother and all her mother said was "it is up to the fates".
The fates. The ones that mess with everyone's lives either ruining them or fixing them in their own way. A very tragic way at that. Right now everything is up to the Fates. Although Zeus wants to claim almighty, everyone can see the fear the fates put in him.
She's brought out of her thoughts by a giggle. Although they are running for their life Penelope is loving the ride. Perseph might have given birth a couple days ago but Penelope looked like a 5 month old. Penelope is no normal baby. She is a full goddess given that both her parents are gods. So she will grow faster than normal.
"Shhh you've got to be quiet my love. Can you do that for momma?" Perseph said with a kiss to the girl's forehead. Nodding her head the child zipped her lips with a smile.
"Good job Penny" the Goddess said
As they approached the throne room Persephone couldn't help but feel like something would go wrong. She knew no matter what happened she would protect her daughter. Opening up the doors she sees the Gods on their thrones. Clearly in a meeting although they would never discuss the topics near her. Zeus stood up glaring at the Goddess or girl as he likes to call her.
"What are you doing here girl? Come to beg for your lovers life?" He said taunting her. She was confused by that statement but shook it off as a something to do with Hades reputation.
"No I've come to ask for your help." She said in a hopeful tone.
"And why should we help you?" This time it was Ares speaking. The god of war cared very little for his "sister". In his eyes she was a traitor and right now he was itching to fight someone.
"I've left Hades and I need help to raise our child." She said feeling the tears go down her eyes as she looked her her baby. Penelope felt her mother was in distress so she decided to do the easiest thing she could. She hugged her mother as tight as her little arms could. Persephone couldn't help but smile at that.
"I'm okay little one. Everything is going to be okay " she said trying to calm the child down knowing she can sense her distress.
"Why? So she can grow up to become just like him. No I will not allow it. Give me the baby Persephone. I know just where to send her." Zeus said not seeing the worry in his daughters eyes.
"I can't fath— Zeus" Persephone said as she caught Zeus stare after she almost called him father. He rarely allowed her to call him father. This time was no different. Hera had glared at the girl as if it was her fault she was alive. She is just upset that her husband can't keep it in his pants.
"You can't or you won't? You will do as I say or there will be consequences"
"I won't. This is my child. My only child and I am going to raise her and love her. Something you couldn't do." She mumbled the last part so he wouldn't hear her
Slamming his fist on his thrown and giving his best scowl. Zeus got up and started walking to his daughter. Slowly she started backing away not knowing what else she could do. Once he reached her, he bent down just enough to be face to face.
"Persephone do you want my help or not? I will make sure that she is with family."
Persephone knew not to trust the man but she couldn't help wanted her father's love. She's not a gullible fool but sometimes she wish she had the love of her parents. Should she trust him? No she can't leave her baby with him. Who knows what he will do.
"No I can't just leave her. She's the only love I have left." She said in no more than a whisper.
The Gods laughed at that. They all knew she would be running back to them they just sat back and waited. Hades was incapable of love and poor Persephone was so caught in the crossfire. With her coming back this could be a good chance to have something over Hades. Gods forbid he actually gets off that island.
Aphrodite wanted to help as much as she could but she couldn't risk it. She had gone against Zeus to be with her love Ares. She wouldn't be of much help. She had already helped Hades and clearly that didn't help anything. She knew fate would get them back together and Hades a chance to get to know his child but she couldn't tell how long that would take. She couldn't even tell if Persephone would be able to be with Penelope as she grew.
"No? Did you just say no to me?" Zeus said as he stood back up to his giant height. "Persephone you want my help? Fine so be it. You will wed Hephaestus since others can't seem to uphold their deal" looking at Aphrodite who wanted to glare at him for being a hypocrite"The child will be raised on earth... As a mortal"
"No. You can't. Please. I have to raise her and she's a true goddess you can't take that away from her" Persephone begged as Zeus was trying to get the baby out of her hands.
He finally ripped the child out of her hands and looked down at her. She looked just like Hades with little Persephone features scattered around. The child looked up at Zeus after hearing her mother's distress. She glared at him and he felt a little uncomfortable under the glare (although he wouldn't confirm that statement).
"Momma" the little girl said as she started struggling in Zeus's hold. Her lip started to quiver and she knew she wanted nothing to do with this man.
"No give her back. It's ok baby momma is right here. She isn't going anywhere." Perseph said as she tried to take back her baby. Only to relax a little seeing Aphrodite taking her from Zeus.
"You're so precious my little rose. You are going to have a great and true love in the future." Aphrodite told the child as she tickled her. Earning herself a giggle from the baby and a head nod confirming her statement from her son.
"I will not allow this child to stay here. She could end us all. Apollo get me the mortality potion." Zeus boomed as he stared at the child.
"No give me my baby we will find someplace else" Persephone tried only to be help by Hephaestus. He wasn't trying to hold her back. Only comfort her in this time of need. Knowing Zeus, he always had a plan and would never let something come in between him and his plan. He hated that Zeus had so much control over his life. This is the second time he is to wed for his own benefit. Heph knows Perseph will only love one and that person isn't him but he will be dammed if he can't at least become her friend. Aphrodite and him were never really close and when they married it was awkward. Hopefully this time is different.
"Too late." Zeus laughed as Apollo gave him the potion. Apollo looked at his sister in shame. He didn't want to help Zeus with this plan but he knew he had no choice. None of the Gods had a choice.
Zeus went to take the baby from Aphrodite. Ignoring Persephone's cries but as he came closer Aphrodite stepped back. He was in no mood for this disobedience and would gladly punish her if she won't obey.
"Aphrodite you're already on my bad side do you want to make it worse?" He asked. Aphrodite just stood there looking between him and the baby. She didn't know what to do. She knew the child was special but couldn't say anything in chance of ruining the future.
He looked at her giving her a chance before he would tell her what's at stake. "I thought you wanted to get away from Hephaestus? This is your chance. Just hand over the menace ." Aphrodite was still hesitant to give the baby to Zeus. He could mess up everything
That was until the fates showed up or "old hags" as Zeus likes to call them.
"Give him the baby Aphrodite. We promise it will be fine." With that statement they left and Zeus looked appalled. Aphrodite still had the baby and was shivering while Penelope was playing with her hair.
"Give him the baby Dite ,dammit" She jumped once she heard Ares demanding voice. Although it was hot she couldn't think about that at a time like this.
She reluctantly gave Zeus the baby hating having to hear Persephone's cries. The child would grow up without both her parents and not knowing about their world.
The baby cried right when Zeus brought her into his arms. He rolled his eyes as he fed her the bottle. Penelope hated the taste so she started squirming and finally when the potion was down three fourths she was able to knock it away from her. Her glow seemed to fade which made Zeus happy while Persephone was shouting at him. Aphrodite saw the glow dim with tears in her eyes. Good thing Eros, Apollo, and Aphrodite saw that she still had some of her glow on her. Zeus was just too much of an idiot to not see it.
Zeus was finally happy seeing that she was now no threat to him. He was just about to throw her down to earth when Persephone caught her and pulled her in for a warm hug.
"I love you my little Penny" Persephone said as she kissed her knowing it would be the last time for a while.
Zeus forcefully forced the two apart and finally threw the child down to earth. Last thing Penelope heard was her mother saying that she loves her.
