Location: Marcy's and your room
POV: Y/n's
Anne, Marcy, and Y/n: "The Scare-Dare challenge. Ooh!"
Marcy: "The rules. One of us comes up with a scary dare and we all have to do it."
Anne: "But whoever bails first gets their name added to..."
Y/n: "The Book of Losers!"
Sprig and Polly gasp.
Anne: "Yeah and once your name is in the Book of Losers, it'll be there forever."
Marcy: "Forever."
Polly: "Well I'm sold."
Sprig: "Let's do this."
Marcy: "Okay, all we need is a scary dare."
Everyone: "Hmm."
Sprig: "Yeah, I got nada."
Anne: "Huh. I don't remember it being this difficult."
Marcy: "That's because Sasha always came up with the best scare dares."
Anne: "Oh, right. All right, what have we got to work with here?"
Anne stands up and walks over to a diagram of the castle and notices the basement was ripped off of the diagram.
Anne: "Oh, what about the basement? Ow! Paper cut."
Marcy: "Anne, that place is off-limits for a reason. This may not be a smart idea."
Y/n: "Yeah, and I don't think Lady Olivia is gonna be to pleased with us if we go down there."
Anne: "Come on, Marce, N/n. It's what Sasha would do."
Marcy: "Well, that is true."
Y/n: "And that's exactly why I don't wanna do this."
Marcy: "Come on Y/n it'll be fun!"
Y/n: "Fine but only cause you asked me to."
Marcy: "We hereby accept this Scare-Dare challenge!"
Polly and Sprig: "We also accept this scare dare challenge!"
Anne: "It is done. This Scare-Dare challenge is now..."
Everyone: "Official."
You all left the room headed down to the basement. On the way you saw Lady Olivia who's face had been drawn on by polly. You entered a room which had a bunch of barrels, and Anne opened a hatch in the floor, revealing a dark stairway."
Everyone: "Whoa."
Sprig: "So, who wants to go first?"
Polly: "I vote Anne."
Y/n: "Me to."
Anne: "What? Why?"
Marcy: "Well, it was your idea."
Anne gulped and started waking down the stairs, everyone followed Anne down the stairs, Anne, Marcy, and you had your phones out with the flashlights on. Marcy slipped and started to fall down the stairs.
Anne and Y/n: "Marcy!"
Marcy: "Oh, no. Why am I going-"
Marcy fell through a door way and landed.
Y/n: "Marcy are you ok?"
Marcy: "Yeah I'm okay."
You helped Marcy up.
Y/n: "Good. Luckily you didn't break another leg."
Marcy: "Oh haha."
Sprig: "Whoa, that's a lot of mirrors."
You all looked into the hallway and saw it was lined with mirrors.
Anne: "So, anyone want to turn back and go into the Book of Losers?"
Marcy: "Not me."
Polly: "As if."
Sprig: "You kidding me?"
Y/n: "No way."
You all started to walk down the hallway.
Marcy: "You know, some cultures believe mirrors can ward off malevolent spirits."
Y/n: "Or summon them."
You and Marcy both start laughing maniacally. Sprig and Polly were creeped out by this. You reached the end of the hallway and were stopped by a door that had been chained and boarded up, with runes on it.
Anne: "Uh, Marcy, Y/n, what does this say?"
Marcy: "My command of Newtopian linguistics is limited, but what it says should be fairly obvious."
Everyone: "Keep out."
Sprig: "What about the one above it?"
Y/n: "Well my ancient Newtopian is better then Marcy's, no offence. And I'm pretty sure it says 'Shadowfish within' what is a shadowfish? Marcy do you know anything about this?"
Marcy: "I'm not sure."
You all look at the door and a creaking noise is heard and everyone jumps back.
Anne: "Okay, somebody's got to want to go back by now."
Sprig: (while shaking) "I ain't going in no Book of Losers."
Polly: (while shaking) "Me neither."
Marcy: "Guess we'll go a bit further, then."
Anne: "Uh-huh. Living my best life right now."
Y/n: (sigh) "Let's get this over with."
The five if you rip the board off the door and open it. When you look into the room you all see coffins rapped in chains and the floor was covered in water.
Anne: "What the heck? It's some kind of creepy crypt."
Polly: "Whoa! You mean like with dead bodies? Cool."
Marcy grabs your arm and looks over to Anne.
Marcy: "Anne, we shouldn't be here. This feels all sorts of wrong."
Y/n: "I agree."
Anne: " guys, I, uh, think Marcy's right. We should head back upstairs."
Sprig: "Oh, I see. So I guess you two are okay with going in..."
Polly and Sprig: "The Book of Losers."
Anne: "Pfft! We don't want to go back 'cause we're scared. This place just isn't are style."
Sprig: "Okay, prove it. Take a selfie by that coffin."
Marcy: "Would Sasha do this?"
Y/n: "Definitely."
Anne: "Oh, yeah."
The three of you start to walk over to the coffin.
Sprig: "I have to admit..."
Polly: "It is pretty creepy."
The three of you get in front of the coffin and pose.
Anne: "All right, say desecration."
The three of you: "Desecration."
Anne takes the photo and you all look at it.
Anne: "Ha! Nailed it. Oh wait. This photo's kind of jank."
In the photo Anne had a glowing red eye which suddenly started to phase out of the phone and turn into a see through blob. You, Anne, and Marcy start screaming. Anne waves her hand at the blob which makes it fly away. The ground starts glowing, more blobs start rising out of the floor and coffins. The three of you back into a coffin.
Anne: "What the heck are these things?"
Y/n: "Must be those shadowfish that writing warned us about."
A shadowfish comes out of the coffin you had your backs to.
Sprig: "Hey, they're actually kind of cute."
Sprig reached out to touch one.
Marcy: "Sprig, don't touch it!"
Anne: "Look!"
Anne pointed to a shadowfish that had grabbed some frog bones, the bones started to dissolve.
Polly: "They're going to eat our bones!"
Sprig: "Forget this. We're losers. We lose."
Polly and Sprig start hopping out of the room.
Marcy: "I don't get it. Are they aliens? Ghosts?"
Y/n: "Both!?"
Marcy: Let's get out of here, Scoob!"
Anne: "Rodger that. Wait, what did you call me?"
Sprig: "Guys, this way!"
Polly: "We found another exit!"
You all start booking it through the exit while getting chased by the shadowfish. You reach another hallway covered in mirrors.
Anne: "Man, someone really loves mirrors."
The shadowfish were right behind you, you all started to run through the hallway. The shadowfish stop just before they reach the mirrors and go into the floor to avoid them. You are all running through a garden. Marcy stops and you do to.
Marcy: "What the? A garden? But how are these plants growing so well without sunlight?"
Y/n: "Or without being watered?"
Anne grabs yours and Marcy's arm pulls the both of you away.
Anne: "Mar-Mar, N/n, we don't have time for this. Come on!"
When you run away you look behind to see if any of the shadowfish are following but instead you see a mossman.
Y/n: "What the?"
You ignore that and keep running and run past a picture that had three slash marks in it. Sprig and Polly stopped in front of the photo.
Sprig: "Whoa. Someone really hated this painting."
Polly: "Ugh. Hurry up!"
Polly pulls him away and they both start to run away. They catch up with the three of you and the five of you start running up a spiral staircase. At the top you find a hatch you, Marcy, and Anne start pushing on it.
Anne: "Come on, put your backs into it."
Once you open the hatch it leads to Your and Marcy's room?
Marcy and Y/n: "Our room?"
Sprig: "Don't question it."
Sprig then closes the hatch.
Anne: "Oh, thank goodness that's over."
The shadowfish then come through the hatch.
Anne: "Holy toot!"
Anne throws a book at one of the shadowfish. But it just goes straight through it and lands at Sprigs feet smoking.
Sprig: "Quick! More books."
Polly: "Way ahead of you."
Marcy: "This isn't working. Why are the books passing right through them?"
Anne: "Maybe they prefer audiobook."
Anne then grabs a worm that shoots silly string and sprays it at the shadowfish. But it also goes straight through them. Sprig holds up a mirror and blocks the silly string, a shadowfish then looks into the mirror and turns solid and falls to the ground.
Y/n: "What the?"
Marcy hits it with a pillow.
Marcy: "It's physical? But how?"
Anne, Marcy, and Y/n: "The mirrors."
Anne: "Both hallways to the crypt were filled with mirrors."
Marcy: "And it looks like the refraction of their own light turns these creatures physical, which means..."
Y/n: "We can hit 'em!"
Anne: "Quick, everyone, grab a mirror."
Everyone grabbed a mirror and starts to show the shadowfish their own reflection. Anne notices her reflection and sees leaves in her hair.
Anne: "Hey, was anyone going tell me I have leaves in my hair?"
Everyone: "Not now, Anne!"
Anne: "Oh, right, sorry."
Once all the shadowfish where solid everyone started hitting them with pillows, and forces them down the hatch. Polly then places a big mirror over the hatch, and Marcy puts a chair on top of it.
Marcy: "So, anyone think they're going to be able to sleep after that terrifying experience?"
Sprig: "Nope.
Anne: "Oh, heck, nah."
Time skip
It was now 6:00 Am and the five of you were huddled in a blanket.
Sprig: "Well, we did it."
Polly: "We stayed awake all night."
Y/n: "Yep and now I have to try and fix my sleep schedule."
Marcy: "Oh, I still have so many questions. What were those things? What's the deal with the basement? And if those were really ghosts is there actually an afterlife?"
Anne: "I didn't even think about that."
Sprig: "Well, one things for sure. That sleepover was amazing."
Polly: "It was the best!"
You, Marcy, and Anne fist bumped.
Sprig: "I just wish I didn't have to add my name to the Book of Losers."
Polly: "Me either."
Anne: "Hand me that pen. You're not the only losers. I was scared out of my mind."
Marcy: "Me, too.
Y/n: "Me, three."
Marcy: "It's not the first time either."
Polly: "For real?"
Marcy: "Have a look."
Sprig: "Whoa! Your names are in here a bunch of times."
Marcy: "Yep, the only one brave enough to never get in the book was Sasha."
Anne: "We have to find her, Marcy."
Y/n: "Do we though?"
Marcy and Anne: "Y/n!"
Y/n: "I'm joking. Of course we'll find her."
There's a knock on the door. The five of you scream and hide under the blanket. Lady Olivia opens the door still with the drawing Polly had done.
Lady Olivia: "Rise and shine, kids. Because of you I barely slept a wink last night. Ugh, well, whatever. It's go time. Your audience with King Andrias is about to begin. Get ready!"
She closes the door and leaves. You all start to laugh a small shadowfish is in the blanket with you and starts laughing as well. You eventually get rid of it.
