"Luke, I hope you know I'm not letting you do this by yourself," I quickly snapped.
The man had approached Leia Organa and I after having a feast with the Ewoks. I was giving her my thanks for rescuing Luke, Han, Chewie, and myself from being devoured. That was when Luke appeared.
The Jedi, although I am quite aware about how important he is in the Rebellion, was reckless. He had that hero mindset that he must sacrifice himself for other people in order to be just and true.
So, to obtain this internal status, he decided he was going to face Darth Vader and the Emperor by himself? That sounds like a suicide mission to me, and I don't want the one man I've loved since I met him all those years ago to become a martyr.
Luke sighed and looked between Leia and I; like he didn't know what to say,
"There's just too much to explain. I can't let my father be the one to destroy the galaxy anymore. I sense good in him, I just know it, and if anyone is to find that goodness in him, it would be me."
"You can't be like that, Luke," I whispered, unsure what to do with myself or this set of declarations, "Darth Vader has already gone too far. There is no good left in him, and he will kill you."
Leia nodded in agreement while grabbing Luke's hands. It looked like tears were going to spill, but she held them in, "(Y/N) is right. You never completed your training with Master Yoda, so what makes you think you're ready to face the strongest Sith Lords around? Please listen to him."
Luke slowly raked his hands away from Leia's, "He's taken too much from me already. He took my aunt and uncle, took my home, and he took away the relationship I might've had with my sister."
That was news. Luke had a sister?
Then it hit me... Leia is Luke's sister.
Leia is Luke's sister?
"Wait," I whispered, looking at the siblings, "When were you planning on telling us? Now, you drop this information on Leia, and you're just going to leave? What if you die? That isn't fair to anyone."
Leia was in a mini state of shock. It was obvious she hadn't suspected to be a Skywalker, so how had Luke known?
"I'm sure Leia understands why I must do this, now that she knows who our father is," Luke rebutted in annoyance, obviously not wanting to have this conversation with you anymore, "And out of everyone here, I expected you to be the most supportive, (Y/N)."
"Let me come with you," I said, losing the angry attitude I had with the Jedi, "If you're going to die, I can't live another day without you. You... you mean absolutely everything to me, Luke Skywalker."
It was very unlike me to be gushy like this. I generally was a very hardened, unemotional man, but Luke always made me soft. Luke made me happy— happier than anyone had ever done before. What I said was true. If anything happened to Luke and I was forced to carry on without him... I would simply cease to exist.
Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in Luke's head. He understood immediately what I meant— he knew my feelings now. Luke knew I was in love with him,
"Oh, (Y/N)," he whispered, his face softening. He dropped his sister's hands and approached me; my eyes adverting from embarrassment, "If I knew how you felt about me, I would've invited you right off the bat. Of course you can come."
He didn't seem to be opposed to my feelings, and maybe even presented the idea of liking me back. Well, if he's going to die during the fight against his father, then there's no harm in trying this...
Cupping the blond man's face in my hands, I slowly pressed my lips to his.
Luke softened even more by this point; his hands making their way up to my cheeks. He deepened the kiss which made fireworks explode in my stomach. Luke did like me back!
"I," I whispered after breaking off the kiss, "Luke. I think I'm in love with you. We've been through so much together, and frankly, I can't imagine another second away from you. I need you like how I need the air for my breaths."
"(Y/N)," he giggled playfully, as if all his troubles in the world began to evaporate as those words left my lips, "I'm so grateful you feel the same. Ever since I met you when you were travelling with Han and Chewie, I knew it was forever with you."
"Then we combat Vader and the Emperor together," I responded while pushing a strand of his blond hair behind his ear; my eyes full of love, "We can do it together; I have no doubt."
I glanced over at Leia, and she was looking at the two of us with such love. It felt good to be loved like that... accepted like that. Leia was such a wonderful woman,
"Please, go," she finally said, grabbing both Luke's and my hands lovingly, "Bring peace to the galaxy. If anyone is going to do it, it's you two."
I grabbed Luke's hand hesitantly, and shot Leia an appreciative look. Just her support alone flooded me with an unexplainable confidence over this whole situation. She's right— if anyone can bring peace to the galaxy, it's Luke and I... well, mainly Luke.
I'm no Jedi. I will just provide moral support for the most important man in my life.
Luke wrapped his arms lovingly around Leia, "We will come back to you and the others. I promise."
"Don't make promises you can't keep," Leia whispered, "I hope I will see the two of you again, but don't get my hopes up."
I sighed, knowing she was probably right, although neither Luke or myself wanted to hear that. We just wanted to be reassured that we might be able to come back and see our friends again, but she was right. Vader and the Emperor? Not even the old Jedi Order could stop them, and Luke hadn't even finished his training with Yoda on Dagobah. No matter— we would survive. I just know it. We have to.
Without another word, Luke led me away from his sister and into his ship. He apparently didn't want Han or Chewie to know, because he didn't even bother saying goodbye. I understand why though; Han would've fought harder than Leia to keep us around. Han had been my best friend far longer than the time we've known Luke, and he's grown very overprotective of me. It's sweet, but in times like this, I'm an adult. If I wish to follow the love of my life into the fire, that's exactly what I will do.
We quickly zoomed off the surface of Endor, but not the whole planet. We knew Vader and the Emperor had some form of transport that would take us to the Death Star if we got caught straight from the surface of Endor. That was where we were headed.
l felt very bad leaving our friends behind, because they still had the risky job of blowing up the shield on Endor which would assist in taking down the Death Star. But, I'm confident in them— they will be fine without us.
Luke and I finally caught sight of the white armoured Stormtroopers from below. This had to be the place! The defence exhibited around this particular place was enough to warrant suspicion.
The Stormtroopers began to take notice. There were a few Imperial walkers, but none of them attempted to shoot us down. Perhaps Darth Vader had given that order himself knowing his son would be showing up to once again attempt to take down the Empire.
Luke's ship landed, and we were immediately boarded and handcuffed without a single vocal acknowledgment from the troopers. They roughly dragged us into a building. At the end of the hall was an elevator... and Darth Vader.
I felt pure fear radiate through my body. I hadn't seen this beast of a man since he put Han into carbonite. He was just as scary now as he was then,
"It was foolish to come here," Vader said, turning to his son, "Now you have no choice but to fulfill your destiny and take your spot by my side."
I huddled confidently beside Luke. I was trying my very best to remain confident and courageous... but Vader's presence alone was enough to make my teeth chatter,
"I know there's still good in you," Luke responded, completely disregarding his father's comment about him fulfilling his apparent destiny, "I wouldn't have come here if that wasn't the case. I know Anakin Skywalker is still inside of you."
Vader ignored this, then turned his attention to me. I felt like a mouse caught in a trap,
"I remember you," he said, grabbing my chin, "You were on Bespin. I have to wonder why you're here."
"That's my boyfriend," Luke snapped, stepping in front of me protectively. That caused Vader to lose his grip on my face, "I wouldn't dream of doing something like this without him."
I blushed.
All we did was kiss— neither of us had established whether or not we were boyfriends yet. I guess this clarified that.
Without another word, the Sith Lord motioned for the Stormtroopers to accompany us up the elevator and into the Death Star. It was a quick ride; an uncomfortable one at that. Luke was in the middle of Vader and I, and I just wanted to hold his hand. I just wanted to comfort him.
Once we got to the top, it was like an elephant was sitting on my chest. I could've never imagined a human eviler than Darth Vader out there, but by just being in the presence of the Emperor, I knew I was wrong. The Emperor was worst than Vader by a long shot.
The Sith Lord lead us down the hallway towards a chair. Inside that chair was a wrinkled old man with bright, angry cat eyes,
"Young Skywalker," he began in a menacing voice; sending chills down my spine, "And (L/N). I never would've expected to meet you in person."
I swallowed and stared daggers at the Emperor; my fear beginning to melt into anger. This was the man responsible for everything! All of the death and suffering was from him,
"If only I wasn't so unlucky. I would've been happy enough never seeing you once in my life."
Palpatine cackled and evil laugh and rose to his feet, "You're not really needed here, (Y/N). Skywalker is here, so you're just... collateral damage."
Before any of those words registered in my brain, Vader unsheathed his lightsaber. I gasped in fear; Luke automatically taking out his green one to come to my aid.
Just because the Emperor insinuated that he wanted me dead, his lapdog reacted.
Father versus son.
To the death.
I watched in absolute horror as my boyfriend combatted his father. It was the most intense battle I had ever witnessed.
Luke was fighting to his full potential, and even then, it seemed like his father was holding back! I couldn't understand how that was possible— Luke was so talented with the force, yet he was nothing compared to Vader.
While Luke was distracted, the Emperor took this moment to attack. This was his final plan; Palpatine had intended for Luke to kill Vader, and he would kill me. That would be the ultimate way to get Skywalker onto the dark side... by killing someone he loves.
I felt flames course over my body as the Emperor lit me up with his force lightning. Screams ricocheted off the metallic walls of the Death Star, which distracted Luke.
My boyfriend immediately abandoned his fight with his father to come to my aid,
"Please don't hurt him!" he gasped, running up to the scene, "He's all I have. Please! I'll do what you want, I promise!"
"N-No," I croaked out as the Emperor ceased his attack, "Do not give in! K-Kill him! This i-isn't about us anymore! This is for the galaxy!"
The Emperor growled; obviously not liking my response. He resumed his lightning attack, causing my internal organs to scream out in pain. The attack was legitimately destroying my cells inside-out.
Like a flash, Vader did something completely unexpected.
The Sith Lord finally let the light side in again. Vader's love for Luke shined through.
He grabbed his old master in his strong arms, and like a blink of an eye, tossed the Emperor down the Death Star shaft.
If I wasn't pulsating with pain, I would've been completely surprised at Vader's actions. That would never happen, though. The pain was too much for me to worry about anything other than myself.
The burns were the worst part. The pain was immense; tears pouring down my face.
"Hey, hey, (Y/N). Look at me, my love," Luke whispered, abandoning his father's side to come and comfort me, "You're going to be okay. Father... he saved you."
I swallowed with much difficultly, and turned to the blond man, "I'm so happy y-you could finally be with your dad. T-That makes me the happiest man in the g-galaxy."
It's as if Luke could sense what was going to happen. I wasn't okay. Nothing about that onslaught of power thrown at me by Palpatine was okay. I was going to die in Luke's arms,
"Don't talk like that, okay?" he whispered, pulling me gently into his lap, "Now that the Emperor is gone, we can get you some help."
"I love you so much," I whispered, looking to Vader. I didn't say another thing. I simply nodded to him like he was an old friend. The second after I silently thanked him for sparing Luke, I slipped away.
Although I was no Jedi, I became one with the force that day. Hopefully, sooner than later, I will reunite with the love of my life, and we will forever be whole.
