Winter took more
than she needed,
casting frostbite across
my heart,
grasping my hopes
between cold hands,
and prying them
forcefully apart
until they fell
like snow's first dusting,
fragments scattered on
the barren ground;
it'll take me months
to piece them together,
once every sliver
has finally
been found.
