GOOD MORNING!!"
Zoro remained with his eyes closed, unmoving, as he sat cross legged on the cold prison floor.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale-
"Oi. I said good morning," she peered inside his cell.
Grunt.
He leaned back further into the wall.
"Oiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii..." She ran a twig along the bars of his cell.
"ARRGHH! STOP IT!!"
"Hihi :D
Good morning."
Zoro didn't bother to reply.
Copying his actions, she fell on her butt and sat cross legged in front of his cell with a muttered, "I'm bored."
"Go disturb someone else then."
"They're all doing their rounds.
The assistant warden told me to go busy myself with something I wanna do but I've got nothing to do!"
She flashed him another grin.
Zoro let out a silent groan. He had already been here for two days and by now it didn't take a genius to know she wasn't leaving until she was 'not bored anymore'.
Nevertheless, what's to stop a man from trying.
Right?
"I don't care. Stop disturbing me."
"I have no one else to disturb!!"
Yeah nevermind.
"Not my problem."
"Stop muttering, Roronoa."
Silence.
Even more silence.
Even even more si- okay I'll stop.
"Hey..." she finally broke the silence.
"Why did you become a pirate?"
Hah..?
He looked up at her and found her eyes locked with his, determined and awaiting an answer.
He sighed.
"It's a selfish excuse," he answered.
"I teamed up with a group of people, each with their own dreams, to realise my own."
A meaningful pause ensued.
"I never set out to become a pirate," his eyes fell to the prison cell.
"But then I met an idiot," he smirked.
"Monkey D Luffy," she whispered.
He looked up at her.
"Oh yeah. You'd know the Captain."
She grinned.
"Of course! I'm a marine! I know stuff."
Somehow, at the moment, her grin didn't seem to reach her eyes and Zoro sensed that something was off.
Regret?
Silenced anger?
Wistfulness?
Whatever. It's none of my business.
