The subtle roars and grunts of the Wookiees on Kashyyyk often assisted in putting me to sleep. However, that was not the case for this particular night. The roars and grunts from the Wookiees were that of fear and pain.
Ki-Adi-Munro had ordered myself and the Bad Batch to travel to Kashyyyk to help with the droid attack on the Wookiees, and tonight was the first time in a few days that the droids had come to attack.
I was awoken by the noises of war in a tent on the beach surrounded by a few Clones. Those Clones were apart of the Bad Batch; an elite squad of Clones that were produced quite differently than their brothers.
Master Ki-Adi decided they would be perfect to accompany me on this mission, and I quickly agreed. Anytime I could be near my boyfriend, Wrecker, I would happily oblige.
"What is going on?" I groaned while sticking my head outside of the tent. My brain was still foggy from being yanked out of sleep, but it quickly queued in— the droids were attacking the Wookiees!
I saw Hunter and Wrecker emerge from their own tents; sweat sticking Hunter's hair to his forehead, "We need to move out, General!"
Luckily for us, the conflict was supposedly happening very close to where we set up our tents. Wrecker walked over to me and clasped a hand on my shoulder,
"What's our orders, boss?"
I smirked and rolled my eyes at his formalities. Not even his brothers in the Bad Batch knew about Wrecker and I'd relationship, and although I loved sharing my life with my boyfriend, I didn't want the world to know. I hated when Wrecker used the formalities for me, but what choice did we have?
Exactly. None.
"Let's move out then!" I announced while beginning to run towards the rising smoke. The droids were beginning to burn the Wookiee's huts and supplies.
The sand below made running very difficult, as the five of us raced towards the conflict. Crosshair had stayed behind to climb atop one of the tall Kashyyyk trees to have a good sniping spot.
The Wookiee cries grew louder and louder as we approached. My heart shattered at the sight.
There were Wookiee corpses littering the ground below, and the rest of the population was either fleeing or attempting to fight off the droid invasion with their bo-castors and large, thick sticks.
"Tech, Hunter, and Echo!" I started while unsheathing my (F/C) lightsaber and swinging at approaching droids, "Take the left and go after the oncoming droids! Wrecker and I will help the civilians!"
Tech, Hunter, and Echo immediately nodded and ran off towards the approaching tanks and troops. Crosshair was following them with his scope, and began sniping down any droids that detected the three other Bad Batch members before they were supposed to.
Wrecker and I quickly began heading towards the Wookiees. As the Wookiees began to notice us, they began to cry out in excitement and hope.
I leapt up into the air towards an oncoming tank. I could hear a nervous shout from one of the droids on the inside of the tank, but the blood roaring in my ears blocked it out. Using my lightsaber, I slashed a giant hole onto the tank's surface; a large boom following.
I could hear Wrecker yelling in excitement as he smashed the droids. This was completely in his element, and I couldn't stop smiling. Watching Wrecker be happy made me happier than anyone or anything else in the galaxy.
"Boom! Crash! Destroy!" Wrecker gleefully announced while blasting two droidekas together effortlessly, "Man, the Seppies really need to give these guys better armour! They get squashed like bugs when they come into contact with me!"
I laughed and leapt over a few more droidekas; slicing a few in half while keeping the majority of my attention on Wrecker, "Don't give them any ideas! We already have enough trouble with the droid army without them buffing their forces."
More and more of the Wookiees began to join in with the conflict; several of them chucking large stones from the treetops to down below. Many battle droids were crushed from the impact, which just further inspired my boyfriend.
Many minutes of this went by— Wookiees, Clones, and Jedi alike combatting the aggressive droid army.
After a while, the droids began to thin out into small squads, and were forced to retreat! I sheathed my lightsaber once the last droid was either destroyed or fled the scene, and turned to my boyfriend,
"You're amazing as always!"
Wrecker's face immediately lit up with a blush. That was one thing in particular that I loved about Wrecker— he was so easy to fluster. Not to mention, when I made him blush, his reactions are always so sweet,
"You were amazing too, my love," he whispered while trying to hide his evident blush, "You made me look like an shiny. It's incredible what you're capable of!"
Now it was my turn to blush.
Checking to make sure the other Clones were busy, I placed my lips onto his reddening cheek, "You're too sweet, Wrecker, really. You were unbelievable though. So strong yet beautiful at the same time."
Wrecker loved it when I called him beautiful. That alongside his frequent blushes made me giggle— he was such a sweetheart. I guess that's why Tech calls him a gentle giant. He is the dictionary definition of a gentle giant.
Suddenly, one of the Wookiees let out a fearful roar.
Wrecker and I immediately split apart, as to not draw attention to our public display of affection. I grabbed my lightsaber into my hand and began racing over to the panicking Wookiee, who was running towards his parents. He was obviously young, which just further inspired me to rid Kashyyyk of this droid menace.
Whenever Wrecker and I got to the scene of the panic, none of the rest of the Bad Batch was present. Perhaps they were still held up with the retreating droid armies, but nonetheless, Wrecker and I will be enough.
Out of the woods crawled a handful of commando droids; their blasters pointed directly at Wrecker and I,
"By Count Dooku's orders, prioritize in killing the Jedi! The Clone and Wookiees are not our concern."
Wrecker growled lowly at hearing that, "Wookiees! Head back into your village and arm yourselves! General (L/N) and I will handle these bucket of bolts."
The Wookiees listened immediately. The majority of the Wookiees near by weren't efficiently trained to defend themselves against the Separatists, so flight was a good option for them.
Wrecker clenched his blaster in his hands and glared at the commando droids.
Although the droids said to prioritize killing me, I didn't care. I would prioritize protecting my boyfriend over these Wookiees and every other creature on Kashyyyk. Without Wrecker, I am nothing, and without me, Wrecker is nothing.
My movements began to spiral as the force began to shift through my veins.
My (F/C) lightsaber sent flashes of light throughout the Wookiee village as I sliced, diced, and cut up the commando droids. They began dropping like flies due to not being able to block the oncoming lightsaber slashes or hit me with any blaster bolts whatsoever. Sweat beaded my brow as the commando droids began to pick up on my strategies, but it still wasn't enough.
Finally, the commando droids decided to change up the plan without Count Dooku's clarification. The last few commando droid standing turned to Wrecker; their eyes glimmering maliciously, "Plan change: kill the Clone. It is obvious to us that the Jedi favours him."
I gnashed my teeth together once I heard that. This suddenly got much more dangerous for both Wrecker and myself. I began to quickly wipe out as many commando droids as I possibly could before the last one got on top of Wrecker.
Wrecker writhed and slammed his fists against the wild commando droid, but it was no use. The droid had been designed and programmed to have an iron grip, and to not release it no matter what.
This required swift action from me as I saw the commando droid grab its vibroblade from its waist. As the commando droid raised the knife to Wrecker's throat, I extended my hands outward to connect with the force. The commando droid was suddenly forced away from my boyfriend, and clattered on the sandy ground below.
The droid blinked angrily, and before I could react, it let a shot out that pierced my stomach. It wasn't fatal, but damn, it hurt.
I plummeted down to the sand below, and while the commando droid was distracted, Wrecker forced a fatal blaster bolt into its metallic exterior. The final commando droid plummeted down; its eye lights fading as all of its battery life faded,
"Oh my God, (Y/N)!" Wrecker shouted while abandoning his blaster and crashing down onto the sandy surface by my side, "Are you okay? You're bleeding! I need to contact Tech— he will know what to do!"
"You don't have time for that, honey!" I said, grabbing his larger hand lovingly, "Tech, Crosshair, Hunter, and Echo have their own jobs and duties, as do we. So, I trust you enough to wrap and bandage my wounds."
Sweat began to bead up on my boyfriend's forehead, "I don't know, (Y/N). I don't know how to heal people. I only know how to destroy and blow things up. This is way out of my pay grade."
I chuckled lightly and grabbed both of Wrecker's cheeks in my hands before leading his lips down to mine, "You're so funny sometimes. I'm not going to die, so try and calm down, okay? You need to bandage my wound, and since you don't have authentic bandages, your shirt will work."
Wrecker swallowed before removing his chest armour to reveal his sweat-stained black shirt. It would have to do... even though I believe putting Wrecker's sweaty shirt on my bleeding wound wouldn't help anything.
Wrecker quickly got to work with patching the injury. Although he was quite large and strong, he treated me with the upmost care and respect. I've never felt safer than I did at this moment— my life in my boyfriend's hands.
After a while, a few Wookiees approached and offered Wrecker and myself some ointment for my wound, as well as some oral medication that would help with the pain. I happily accepted all the help that the Kashyyyk natives were willing to give.
After the chief Wookiee, who's name is Tarfful, thanked and dismissed Wrecker and I, the Clone decided to take me back to the ship,
"You know I can walk," I huffed as Wrecker lead both of us through the sandy wasteland that was Kashyyyk, "You don't need to carry me."
Although I was complaining about my boyfriend doing all of the work to ensure the both of us arrived safely back to the ship, I was actually pretty comfortable. Wrecker's strong hands held me so tenderly, and his shoulder provided a very comfortable pillow for my aching head. There was no place I would rather be.
As we approached the ship, a gasp rang out through the silence, "Hunter! Wrecker and (Y/N) are back! They're hurt though!"
I sighed, knowing this was inevitable. The Bad Batch was very overprotective of me, so it was obvious that this ride would be very... unpleasant to say the least. What else are friends for?
The Bad Batch quickly rushed me inside the ship; questions bombarding me.
Wrecker could tell I was too tired to communicate what happened to his brothers, so he asked them to leave. They obliged, which just left Wrecker and I,
"Thank you, honey," I whispered while pressing some sporadic kisses to Wrecker's knuckles, "You always know what I need."
"Hey, you just have that affect on me," Wrecker grinned while winking at me; my cheeks turning red once again, "And if anyone can make me become an improv medical Clone, you could do that."
"I'm just testing your insane abilities at this point," I giggled, crashing my lips into his once more, "You obviously have what it takes to be a medical Clone if you so desired."
Wrecker shrugged and rolled his eyes, "Yeah right. If that happened, I wouldn't be able to blow things up anymore... and I would see you way less than I already do."
"We don't want that, do we?" I asked, pulling him in for one final kiss, "Your life would be so unbearable without me in it."
Yet again, Wrecker rolled his eyes, but gladly accepted the kiss. He's right... he would make a terrible medical Clone.
