I feel it
as darkness
folds my whole
into something more compact,
leaving crease marks
throughout my soul
and multitude of cracks
that dance across my heart,
a filigree of lost wishes
that threaten to
take me apart
and leave me shattered
on the soft ground,
before vanishing into
the earth,
where maybe
they will regerminate
into a fantastic rebirth.
