I look to a future
where I can forgive
and forget,
and move on clear-headed
and free from regret,
yet my brain
is in turmoil with
unimaginable things,
the monsters I've
experienced,
and the horrors life brings
when we're stuck in
the prison of
our own tortured minds,
and destruction in slow motion
is anxiety defined.
