Yesterday
sits like the devil
on the periphery of
my mind,
a reminder of
every mistake
that I'd rather leave behind,
and he taunts
my insecurities
in the dead of night,
a parade of
restless phantoms
that haunt me out of spite,
and I just can't forget
how I faltered
back then—
the reason why I
should never have
decided to trust again.
