There is a storm
beneath my skin
and a tempest
in my heart,
and this roiling mass
of thunder
could tear me apart
if I let it
but I've grown used
to my own tumult,
and lightning sits easily
on my tongue,
and you can try your best
to contain me
but this resolve is
far too strong
to be tempered by
your half-hearted disdain,
and as the rainclouds gather,
you know I'll always
start again.
