Harua and I are stepbrother and sister. Our parents, my dad and his mom got married about a year ago making us stepbrother and sister. We are closer now than we were at the start as we live under the same roof. Things were a little awkward at first when our parents married. Things weren't easy for me as my mom died three years ago and it hurt me when my dad moved on with a new woman but he's very happy with Harua's mom so I love to see my dad happy. Harua may be my stepbrother and family but I think I have a crush on him. I can't say that to him as he'll probably go mad and yell at me so I have to keep those feelings to myself for now. It's not easy though. If I told my dad and Harua's mom, they would find it weird too. Harua is one of the most genuine guys I've ever met. He is really sweet and down to earth so is his mom. But for now I have to keep those feelings for him to myself as I don't want to cause anything between us. We are step siblings. A family. Harua has been out more lately and not been home as much so I wonder where he is. I haven't asked him as it's probably none of my business anyway so I won't ask. He's been acting a little strange lately. Maybe I'll find out what's going on. I am on the bus on my way back from school now so I should be home soon. Harua goes to a different school from me. He goes to a private school. The bud stops not far from my house and I get off and walk up to my house. I open the door and walk in. It seems pretty silent. I walk into the kitchen to get a drink of milk from the fridge. Suddenly I hear the front door open and someone walk in. Harua entered the kitchen. "Hello" he said. "Hi. Whoa, you scared me" I say. "Sorry, sis. How was school?" Harua asks. "I was alright thanks. What about for you?" I reply. "Yeah same" he said. "Alright cool. I've got something for history class to finish off so I'll do that and watch TV with you later" I say. "Okay sounds good. I'll be taking a walk" he said. I smile. I go upstairs to my room and Harua does too. I had my work to finish then I took a bath and watched TV with Harua after like we try to do most nights when we are both around. We like our k dramas and Japanese things on TV too so we watch those. Our parents don't like that kind of thing. They watch TV upstairs
A few weeks have passed and Harua is still going out a bit and spending some time away from home. I don't want to ask him where he's going as I know he probably won't tell me if he doesn't want me to know which is okay I guess. We are family so i hope we are honest enough to one another to tell the truth. I have been out with my friend today shopping to the mall and I'm coming home now. Her mom gave me a lift home. I open the front door and walk in. As I was going up the stairs, Harua is coming down. There is someone behind him, a girl. "Y/ N, you're back" he said. "Yes I am" I smile. He goes down the stairs with the girl and she smiled at me. "Y/ N, this is Maya. Maya, this is Y/ N. My ste.... my sister" he said. "Hi nice to meet you" she says. "Yes you too" I reply. I go silent for a second. "Hmmmm there is something I haven't told you, sis" Harua says. "Let me guess. Maya is your girlfriend" I reply. "Yes yes. How did you guess? We've been dating for a while. I was going to tell you I swear" he said. "Because you never bring girls home and I just guessed" I say. "Y/ N, I we waiting for the right time to tell you" Harua said. "So tell me, am I the last person to know you have a girlfriend or do my dad and your mom know?" I ask. "Ummmm yeah I might have told them but they haven't known long at all" he said. "I knew you were doing something. All these times you haven't been home" I say. "Sorry, Y/ N" Harua said. "I thought we were closer than that, Harua. We should share things with each other. If I was dating someone I'd tell you. You'd be first to know even above our parents" I say. "Sorry it was a mistake not telling you" he said. Maya had to go during our conversation. "I should think so but look I'm not going to be mad at you and fall out with you. We're family and need to stick together" I say. "Okay, Y/ N. I'm sorry I didn't tell you" Harua said. "It's alright just forget it. If you like this girl and you're happy with her. If she breaks your heart, she'll have me to answer to" I say. "I do like her and I don't think she'll break my heart. Oh I met her at school by the way. I sit next to her in math" he said. "That's good. Wish that was happening to me" I say. "It will, Y/ N" Harua said. He goes downstairs to the kitchen and I go upstairs to my room. It was a bit of a shock finding out that my stepbrother has a secret girlfriend I had no idea about. I am happy for him. He deserves someone and it's not me. I'm his stepsister. I'd like to get to know Maya. She seems good for Harua
Harua is still seeing Maya and he said it's going okay. It's going well for them. Part of me feels sad that he found someone but he is my stepbrother so he probably doesn't like me in that way even though I have feelings for him that he doesn't know about that yet and probably won't. Harua has invited me out to go bowling with him and Maya. I said no at first and then I said yes as it will be fun and I haven't done that kind of thing in a while. I've not been out with my stepbrother and his girlfriend before and they've been dating months. Harua and I are getting a taxi to the bowling place together and meeting Maya there soon this afternoon. I get dressed into a casual outfit of jeans and a hoodie with sneakers. I tie my hair back in a messy bun after doing a bit of makeup then I was good to go so I go downstairs to see if Harua is ready which he was. "Okay. Let's go, sis" he said. "Yep our ride is awaiting us" I reply. Harua smiles and we walk out the door and get in the cab and arrive at the bowling place soon to meet Maya who is nearly there too. Harua and I are stood outside waiting for her. Maya arrives and says "Hey, you guys". "Hey, babe" Harua said. "Hi, Maya" I said. She smiled at me and we go in and get our tickets for bowling and go to our allocated lane. Harua keyed in our names and we started our game of bowling. I haven't been bowling in ages so it's fun for a change. I used to love it as a kid. I'm not really competitive but Harua is sometimes competitive. Think he gets that from his mom. His mom can be like that. We both take it in turns. Maya, then me and then Harua. So far Harua was leading, then Maya, then me. I didn't really care I was last. "Come on, Y/ N. You're lagging behind. Don't look sad" Harua said putting his arms around me. "I'm fine. I don't mind" I say. I do better during the next round and Harua and Maya cheer. Harua won in the end and he liked that. After bowling we go to the McDonald's down the road to get something to eat. Harua gets the food while me and Maya sit down. "Y/ N" she said. "Yeah" I reply. "I don't want you to feel put out when me and Harua are together. I know he's your stepbrother and you love him and you're close to him and I would never take that away from you" Maya said. "It's okay. I'm used to you two being together now" I say. "But you don't like Harua in that way. Do you?" she asks. "I'm not saying anything" I say. Maya doesn't reply. Harua then comes with the food. "For my two favourite girls" he said. "Thank you, bro. Love you" I say. "You're welcome, sis, love you too" Harua replies. "Thank you, cutie" Maya smiles. We sit down together and eat our McDonald's. I couldn't say in front of Maya that I had feelings for Harua as I knew she would find it weird and have a go at me if told her I had feelings for her boyfriend who is my stepbrother. Maybe those feelings will go away in time or maybe they won't
Harua's POV
Me and Maya are still together but i know that Y/ N is hurting a bit from us being together. I know if just be hard for her seeing me, her stepbrother finding someone. Y/ N and I have been as close as brother and sister since the day we met. That was before our parents married. We are both only children and we always wanted a sibling growing up. We are also the same age too, close in age. I never meant to hurt Y/ N intentionally when she found out about me and Maya. I maybe should have told her earlier and arranged for them to meet properly. I think that was a mistake of mine. I should've introduced them properly. I know it hurt Y/ N when she saw Maya in our house. She didn't get too mad at me. I think Maya notices that I may feel a different way about Y/ N now than I did before. I know she's my stepsister but I've always had a soft spot for her. I don't know how to express my feelings for her without her acting in a weird way or upsetting Maya because I know it will upset her and I don't want that. Y/ N and I are staying in tonight and we are chilling at home this evening. It's nice to have that time together. Maya is at a family wedding today so I am not seeing her which is okay as I'm with Y/ N. I have ordered some food in for us and Y/ N is coming down to join me in the lounge. "Thought you'd be down as soon as you could smell the food" I said. "I was getting changed. I'm here now" she reply. "I'll see what's on TV" she said. I smile and we find something good to watch on TV. We sit together eating and watching what was on the TV. Y/ N wasn't too interested in it. She gets up and goes into the kitchen for a minute. "Harua, can we talk for a moment?" Y/ N said with an anxious look on her face. "Okay sure" I reply. "Look I can't keep this up myself for much longer but I-I-I have feelings for you" she said. "I don't know but I think I feel the same even though we are like brother and sister. I don't want there to be anything weird or awkward between us because of this" I say. "It hurt me when I found out that you were dating Maya it was a big shock for me, Harua" Y/ N said. "I know. It must've been I understand that. I hate for not being honest with you and telling you before" I say. "Anyway let's move past that now. Me and Maya are friends and I don't want you to break her heart by saying you have feelings for your stepsister" she said. "Okay I won't say anything. Our feelings are just between us. Love you, sis" I say. "Love you too, bro" Y/ N said. We look at each other and pull each other on for a big hug. Me and Y/ N have a bond like no other. I guess we will just stay this way for now
