Chapter 4: i knocked on your door

It's a sharp sound of a gentle knock on a wooden door,

So delicate the noise seems breakable,

As it echoes through the world of the blind ones.

You know I could die breathing in the way your smile unfolded

When you saw me at your door, wearing your favourite sweater.

Come in, come in, come in.

How our eyes aligned like planets,

How you could quiet all my thoughts with just a glance,

How your touch could make my heartbeat run into yours,

How your way of greeting me was a smile of welcome.

There are echoes of you everywhere I go, do you know?

Whenever I knock, it's a knock too late,

As you knocked down the door, knocked on my cavorting heart,

As you pushed down effortlessly all the walls I had built for a lifetime,

As you broke all the rules I'd built these walls around.

If I died at your merciful soft hands,

Would you lay my ashes in the fireplace and burn them to a so called heaven,

Or would you cry over a body gone to a place unreachable by the impossible?

You know that for you I would tear myself into a thousand little pieces,

And I know that you'd pick them up and call them jewels to wear.

We knew from the start, didn't we?

From the day you stole my breath and gave me one to inhale,

From the day you already knew me by heart,

From the first day of spring in the blooming evergreen.

From that second I knocked on your door.

I think we both knew from start

That this would be a love called impossible.

That was why we both fell into it,

Wasn't it? The never

Made it into a forevermore.

Doesn't the secrecy make it so delicate,

The delicacy making it so impossible to have?

Don't we all want the impossible?

Why do I want what will cause me most pain?

I want what will cause me most pain.

In the piano room, I wrote an elegy:

Beware if he loves you.

I wrote it down, and the pen glided

So effortlessly into words I'd seen one too many times.

I knew, you knew, we both knew. But we never said it.

Raise the walls of vacancy, look into eyes that resemble moons.

Open the door to a face too familiar to be forgotten,

Open the door to a mirage too distant to be remembered,

Open the door to the soul who can make melodies from your heartstrings,

Open the door to the heart who can draw smiles and pull laughters from you.

Haunt me with your deepest kisses,

Curse me with your bewitching stares,

Damn me with your most sinful smiles,

Hex me with your sharpest spells,

But swear that you'll always open the door when I knock.

Do you know how painful it would be for me if you left me

Standing like a child at your doorstep?

Tell me what to do, my love, tell me.

Let me be your most cruel hoax,

If only I could give you the suns your cerulean skies deserve.

My love,

Do you know how much I am afraid?

When I knock on your door, will you open?

Will you one day get tired of the same hopeless eyes,

Will you one day see how much you will win nothing from it?

My love,

Do you not see how worthless I am?

When I knock on your door, will you open it with the same smile?

Will you one day sicken of the same wide eyes of wonder,

Will your eyes one day wear from seeing the same heartless creature?

Will

You

Open

The

Door?
