Loki shows up inside my house at the same time for the next three nights, and all we do is talk casually. I still have absolutely no idea why he comes to see me of all people.

On the fourth night, it's raining, and I've arrived home early. Loki had always been in the house before I'd gotten here, but when I entered, the foyer was vacant.

I'd earned permission from my mother to leave work early because I have a date tonight. I think she's overjoyed at the chance at grandkids. It's just a date, I'd wanted to tell her, but I wasn't about to argue.

I go into my bedroom and put on a lacy (and casual) black dress that hugs my curves. I fix a few braids into my hair, but mainly leave it natural and wavy. I touch up my makeup, and am about to apply red lipstick when I hear a commotion downstairs.

I set the tube down and rush down the stairs.

"Loki?" I call. I hear a few swishes and footsteps before he appears through the doorway, soaked from head to toe.

"Why're you so wet?" I ask.

"It's raining, Olivia." He answers sarcastically. I can't help but feel a shiver run through my body. It's the first time he's ever used my name, and it rolls off his lips beautifully.

"I hadn't noticed." I reply, equally sarcastic. I turn away and enter the kitchen, filling a cup with orange juice. I take a small look at the few contents of my fridge, before shutting the door.

Loki, I've noticed, has a particular liking for strawberries, so I bought a new package last night, even though I'm slightly tight on money. It's silent, and it's neither awkward or uncomfortable.

"You look lovely." Loki breaks the silence. I instantly blush and turn my head so he doesn't see the redness creeping into my cheeks.

"Thank you." I mumble, and it's quiet again.

"Why have you dressed so nicely?" He asks.

"I have a date." I answer, shrugging.

"What is a 'date'?" I'm surprised he doesn't add something insulting about 'Midgardians'.

"Well, um, when a guy and a girl kind of like each other, they go out on a date. Something like dinner, or watching a movie, or talking. It's kind of a test, to see if you'll be interested in each other romantically." I explain.

"Ah." He trails off, staring down at the floor.

"Yeah." I continue, this time very awkwardly.

"Well, I had better be going.." He decides, without even searching for strawberries in the fridge.

"Where are you going? It's still raining." I furrow my eyebrows. He doesn't respond, only faces the window.

"Where do you stay, anyway?" I persist. There is only one possible place in the whole town he could possibly stay, and I highly doubt he'd go there.

"Anywhere to keep away from Thor." He says sourly. I cock my head.

"You aren't staying out on the street, right?"

"I'm not." He lies, and for once I can actually tell that he is.

"You can stay here, just for tonight, because it's raining." I relent.

"I don't know-"

"Come on." I cross my arms.

"Only because it's raining." He points a finger at me, and I smile in victory. I turn on my phone screen to check the time, and gasp.

"Oh my gosh, I'm late!" I throw on a coat, all while Loki stares at me with his emerald green eyes.

"Stay put and don't mess with anything. I'll be back in a couple of hours."

"And how long would that be, exactly?" He raises an eyebrow.

"You seriously don't know how long an hour is?" I sound exasperated, and I really need to leave.

"I was just kidding." He sounds like he wants to laugh, but doesn't find any humor in my response.

"Goodbye, Loki."

-

"Hey, I'm sorry I'm late." I sit down in a chair across from my date. His name is Travis, and he has dark, wavy hair and a sweet face. Normally I'd be excited to be going out with such an attractive person, but right now, I'm worried about Loki.

"It's no big deal, I'm glad you texted me." He lifts his phone from the table, and I nod. He sits quietly and watches me, which makes me completely uncomfortable.

"So, how was your week?" I try hard to make small talk.

"It was okay." He shrugs, going back to watching me. Who does that? I cross my arms, then raise my hand to order.

"I'd like the spaghetti." I order, and the waitress writes it down. She glances at Travis.

"I'll just have a coke." He decides. Instantly, I feel bad for being the only one eating.

"You aren't eating?"

"Oh, I ate some pizza at home." He dismisses. Somehow, this is already possibly the worst date I've been on. My mind flashes to Loki, who's surely bored out of his mind sitting at my house without knowing how to turn on the TV.

Finally Travis begins to talk about the football team he played on in high school, and I listen at first, then begin to tune him out. My eyes slowly shift to the window, when I sit up in my seat fast.

Standing outside the window, in the rain, is Loki, with that smirk on his face.

"Excuse me." I say, dropping my napkin down on the table. Travis's eyes follow me out the door, but I ignore them.

"What're you doing here?" I hiss.

"I grew bored." He admits. I roll my eyes.

"I could just take you home. This date isn't that good anyway." I sigh.

"Alright." He nods. I quickly tell Travis that I have to leave, and that it's an emergency, then I slip out the door. Loki waits for me, and follows as I walk to my car.

"Hop in." I tell him. He opens the passenger door and sits down. Finding his legs to be too long, he pulls them closer to his torso. His head also touches the ceiling, which makes me giggle.

I drive home, turning on the radio and humming along to a few songs, while Loki looks extremely confused by the 'Midgardian music'.

When we get home, we're immediately greeted by Harper, who now wags her tail at the sight of Loki. I tell him to wait in the foyer while I change into comfort clothes.

I put on a large t-shirt and blue shorts. Out of the back of my closet, I grab one of my brother's shirts and a pair of sweatpants. At the last second, I put on my fuzzy socks, then plunk down the stairs.

"Aren't you going to make yourself comfy?" I ask. He shrugs. I hand him the clothes and go into the other room so he can change. I grab a blanket and a pillow, then return to him. He lets me lead him into the living room, and I set his bed items on the couch.

"I'll watch TV with you for a little bit, if you'd like." I offer.

"What's TV?" He gently sits on the couch, making sure not to plop, which for some reason catches my eye.

"This." I smile, before curling up into the love seat. I grab the remote and turn on the TV, and his eyes are immediately glued to the screen.

We watch Nemo, which I was surprised he was okay with, and I soon begin to drift off to sleep. Just before I close my eyes, Loki asks me one more question.

"Olivia?"

"Yes?" I answer.

"Are we friends?" I can sense a sliver of vulnerability in his voice, and I meet his gorgeous eyes from across the room.

"Of course." I assure, before sleep overtakes me.
