Aashiq Aahil POV
"It was only for the baby. I am not feeling weak, like I was poisoned. If It were for me, I would not have survived. And, if it is Ayzan and Rabia. They will not stop here. We need the treatment as soon as possible,"
She said, and I gulped. Whatever she was saying was right.
"Okay, If you do not want to go. Stay here,"
I turned my face to look at her father.
He was a very understanding and mature man, unlike me.
I made mistakes, mistakes that could not even be called mistakes. I got so deep in my sorrow that I could not realise what I was doing. What was I doing to my people, my Sultanate and my love? I went so deep that I just looked for an escape, the escape in the form of wars, horse riding and being alone.
If I had reacted cautiously even once, this could not have happened.
But, one thing Ruhani said correctly was that what happened has happened. And if we held onto this, we would not foresee our near future. That might be more difficult because I was about to do something that could cause me a lifetime threat.
But my child was everything to me. And, the way Ruhani cried for him, I swore Rabia and his father would beg like that for their life.
At this moment, I did not want anything but justice for my child. Whoever tried to hide the news from me, whoever plotted all this. Whoever used our emotions against us would suffer hell. And I was ready to seek justice for my child at any cost.
From Inside, I was broken and shattered, and each time I looked at Ruhani, my heart hurt like hell. But I had to behave normally. The more we show our grief, the more she would think about it. She needed a distraction to escape her loss as soon as possible. Because I was deep into failure and shattered my life, she could not afford it, and she should not burn herself in this loss.
That was why I tried to pretend the things were light in front of her. Her frustration towards me would escape her from the loss. The more we talked about the baby, the more she would get upset. I had to behave normally in front of her. I had to hide my pain, so it would not remind her of hers.
"Sultan,"
Suddenly, an attendee's voice caught my attention, and I looked in her direction.
"Yes,"
I asked.
"Sultan, Shehzaadi Rabia has arrived,"
I sighed with the information and looked at Ruhani. She looked back at me, and I gulped.
"Abbu, I want to talk to him in private,"
She said, looking at his father. I heard their footsteps fade as they walked outside the chamber.
All the attendees also went from there, and she looked at me.
"Do not worry; I know everything,"
She stated, and I inhaled deeply, concerned about what she knew.
"I know that I cannot bear a child again,"
She said, and I tried to shake my head to beg her not to sound like this.
"Please listen to me first,"
She said, and my eyes filled with tears.
"I do not think that Rabia did it. She was not here, and no one knew I was pregnant other than Shaheen. And I trust Shaheen more than I trusted anyone here. And I know she did not leak it to anyone. It is some attendee's work whose loyalty laid in Rabia's father. I made some amendments, and some of them were not happy with those. Maybe the letters reached any of those, and she did it. The food that I consumed was made by the person whom I trusted the most. At any cost, he could not meet hands with Rabia to deceive you and me. And, we have a responsibility of a Sultanate on our heads. And a Sultanate needs an heir. And, since now I cannot have an heir, you must look for other options. I called Rabia because she did a lot for your Sultanate. I will always be the Queen, but you can marry her for the baby,"
She said, and the tears fell from my eyes. My lips trembled, and I looked at her.
"Bhot Badi Sultana ban gayi hai aap to, hamare faisle bhi khud lene lagi hai... itna sab bata rahi hai ye bhi batae ki hamari mohobbat ka kya?"
"Such a big Queen you have become, taking all the decisions by yourself... telling me so much, now please enlighten me, what about our love too?"
I asked, and she stared at me.
"Ulfat ki aarzo ne hume banzar kar diya... ab banzar se kya ulfat or kya aarzoo,"
The tears fell from my eyes, and I nodded.
"Mohobbat nahi hai ab hume aapse. Hamara ek farz hai is Sultanate ke logo ke liye hum bass usse ada karna chahate hai. Hamare umeede aapse bahut pehle hi mar chuki hai. Jab hum aapka intzaar karte the, anjaane me aapka intzaar karna bhi bhool gae... pyaar karte the or dheere dheere vo bhi nahi raha. Kisi ko itna bhi tanha nahi chodna chahiye ki usse tanhayi ki aadat pad jae,"
"I don't love you anymore. I have a duty to the people of this Sultanate; I want to pay it. My hopes for you have died long before. When I used to wait for you, I unknowingly started forgetting to wait for you too... I used to love you, and slowly that too is no more. One should not leave someone so alone that one gets used to such loneliness,"
She said, and I lowered my gaze to hide my tears. I inhaled a deep breath and looked back at her.
"An heir or not, no girl could ever replace you and will never replace you. Sultan or not, but no second marriage at any cost. Saeed can take the Sultanate, and I mean it. I might be the villain of your story, Ruhani. I might be the man who hurt you the most, but my love for you is pure, and it does not need any provings. Your love for me might have vanished, but mine is as it was and will be. It is unconditional. I will never ask you to love me back, but you cannot change how I feel for you. You should know that this villain of your story is head over heels for you and can burn the whole world for making you cry. And, the baby, it was mine too, as it was yours. You at least spent six months with him, but how unfortunate I am that I only got the chance to set up his grave. I am not justifying myself, but I am telling from experience. I lived a whole life in this hole of grief and loss. I have seen how you cannot trust even your family, how you search for silence and corner. I never want it for you. I loved you, even when I knew the truth. But it took me time to accept it, and you will take time too. But, you are way more sensible than me and do not try to make mistakes that I did. Do not love me but dare not ask me to marry someone else because I never will. I will leave the title of Sultan, I will bear no children, I will not touch you again, and I will leave anything or everything if you ask, but it will always be you in my heart, and you cannot change that,"
I said and stood up from there.
Washing my tears, I walked away from there, and she called me.
"Aahil, listen to me,"
"Do not do anything out of anger. Think first before you take any action,"
I heard her soft voice and came out of the chamber. I took my steps towards Rabia's room and stopped when I saw an attendee coming.
He stopped in front of me, and I looked at him.
"Ask someone to send lunch for two in Rabia's chamber, and do not forget to add sliced lemons to the plate,"
I said, and he nodded.
"Okay, Sultan,"
I entered her Chamber, and she looked at me.
"Assalamwalaikum Sultan,"
She wished.
"Walaikumassalam,"
I replied and sat on the single couch. Signing her to sit down I asked her.
"So, how is your family?"
She thinned her eyebrows a little and gulped nervously.
"Everyone is good,"
I sharply observed her gestures and said.
"I called off the war because now I have decided to get married to you,"
I said, seeing her face changing to confused, excited, happy and slightly scared.
"All of sudden?"
"Yes, great things strike the brain all of a sudden,"
I started and looked at her with soft eyes.
"I am sorry, Rabia, that I have realised it too late that you are the one,"
She gulped and stretched her fingers with nervousness.
"And what about Ruhani?"
She asked.
"After, I realised that she was the reason my father died. We do not have anything now. Moreover, she just lost our baby, and the Sultanate needs an heir. I am sure you will not dishearten me about that,"
"Lost... the baby, how?"
She asked, thinning her eyebrows slightly. I said.
"Miscarriage. A normal miscarriage,"
I stated.
"Ohh,"
She said and looked a little bit relaxed.
"Sultan,"
Suddenly an attendee's voice caught my attention, and I looked at them.
"Sultan, the lunch,"
They said, and I nodded.
Platting it on the table, they left.
"You must be hungry, right?"
I asked, and she nodded.
"Have some food,"
I said, signalling towards the lunch.
"You asked for your plate too?"
She said, looking at the two plates, and I nodded.
"It's been a long time since we talked. And, I think we should start afresh by clearing the old clouds off,"
I said, and she smiled.
I smiled back.
She started having lunch, and I did too.
My eyes silently noticed each of her moves, and her face changed a little bit when she saw the lemon, and I suddenly asked.
"Why did not you think of getting married? Were you waiting for me? Like, you knew this time would come?"
I laughed at the end of my question so it would not sound like an investigation or suspicious.
She laughed a little.
"No, but I still was not over you to think of getting married,"
I smiled.
"So, is it love or a kind of obsession? Like I want this man only?"
I asked, and she laughed.
"I do not know exactly, but I think it is love,"
"Really?"
I asked.
"So, what can you do for me?"
I chuckled.
"I mean, how strong is your love?"
I asked.
She looked at me.
"Very strong. I can do anything for you,"
She said.
"Like anything?"
I asked, lifting my eyebrows, and she stared deeply into my eyes.
"Anything you ask and anything for you,"
"Wow, so,"
I said.
"I want to talk about something serious with you,"
I said.
"Yeah, tell me,"
She asked.
"Your father told me that it was Ruhani whom my father saved. How does he know that?"
I asked.
She hesitated a little.
"I do not know. Maybe, he got this information from sources,"
She said and gulped.
"Rabia. We are about to start our new family very soon. You will bear babies, and I want to know who my well-wisher is. And, I think grass, tree, or something that cannot breathe could not be a source of information. And I think your father's men were there when the tiger attacked him. And, if it so, they did not save him. Why?"
I asked.
And, she turned silent, confused and scared.
"I think it is your father who betrayed me. I think he is the one who killed my father because he could not get the girl of his choice. And I cannot accept you until I know the truth. Rabia, you must choose one and search for the truth for me. You have to choose if you want to be my wife or you want to be your father's daughter,"
I said and stood up from there.
"And you have time until the food gets cold,"
I started and started to walk away.
"Aahil,"
She called, and I turned to look at her.
"And how can I know you will not break your promise if I tell the truth?"
She asked.
Very soon, and she indeed loved me so much.
I walked closer to her and took out a ring off my finger. I asked for her hand, and she placed it in my palm. Sliding the ring on her finger, I said.
"You have my promise, and you can even show it to Ruhani if you do not trust me,"
I exclaimed.
She gulped and tears collected in her eyes.
"It was him. It was my father who left a hungry tiger at that place. He wanted revenge against your father,"
I lowered my gaze as the anger started bubbling up.
"Why did he help me in all those years?"
I asked.
She gulped and started crying.
"Aahil, I am sorry. He helped you because he did not want all three Sultanates to turn up against him. He supported you and used Ruhani to create misunderstandings between Kainat and Darmiyan Sultanate. But, please, I am not my father,"
She exclaimed, and I exhaled a deep breath.
My girl was right. Ruhani understood all this way before; I read it in her diary and cross-confirmed it with all the materials when she was unconscious.
Now, I knew the truth, and I even knew who poisoned Ruhani.
"Do not worry, Rabia. The innocents will never be touched, and the culprits will never be left,"
I started and looked at her.
"I will announce our engagement tomorrow at the court. And, now, since you chose me, you should swear to break all contact with your father,"
I asked her, and she started nodding.
"I will, and even I already did. I will not contact my father. I am all yours,"
"Good,"
I stated and walked out of her chamber.
