REGINA FINALLY GAVE birth to a twin, 9 months later. We named them Janella and Jane. Janella looks like her mother and Jane looks like me, sabi nila lola. Akala ko pa nga nung kasalukuyang nanganganak si Regina sa twin namin, magt-transform pa sya into Valentina dahil she keeps on saying, "please utang na loob mga anak lumabas na kayo!" Eh. Umabot na sa point na pati doctors tumatawa na sakanya habang ako alalang-alala sakanya.
It's been 5 years since that happened. 4 years old na rin ang twins namin.
"Mom, mommy, someday i wanna be an architect like tita Flo." Jane says. "Ako naman i wanna be a model and a great singer like mom and tita Era." Yes, Era finally keeps in touch with us after so many years.
Naging model sya sa ibang bansa and she keeps on travelling around the world dahil sa work nya, so hindi rin namin sya nakakasama ng madalas.
May event kami na pupuntahan ni Regina ngayon, 'yung anniversary ng Vanguardia Oil Company kasabay na rin ng mga taga EMT. Sinagot nya lahat ng pamasahe ng mga taga Nueva Esperanza para lang nakapunta sila dito. Papunta at pabalik ofcourse.
Iiwan muna namin 'yung kambal kina Lola since pupunta rin si Flo at Brian sa event.
Bago pa kami pumunta ni Regina at dumiretso sa event, hinatid muna namin ang dalawa naming makukulit na anak.
Umiyak pa nga si Jane dahil mam-miss nya raw ang mommy Regina nya. Kuhang-kuha ni Jane 'yung ugali ni Regina na clingy pero mataray tapos si Janella naman, kuha 'yung ugali ko na makulit pero sweet.
"Ayun na ang lola at tito Ding oh. Kiss sa lola ha?" Pagpapaalala ko pa sa twins. They both nod. "Yes mom. Bye!" Janella said tapos kiniss kaming dalawa ni Regina nung twins tsaka bumaba.
Binaba ko 'yung window glass ng sasakyan ko tapos sinabi ko lang kung anong gagawin ni lola. "Alam ko gagawin ko apo, sige na, gumayak na kayo." Nagsimula na akong magmaneho papunta sa event. Alas singko na rin ng hapon, ala sais 'yung start ng event pero so what? Kami ang main character kahit ma-late kaming mag-asawa.
"Ba't mo nanan tinuruan pa si lola dun? She literally took care with you kasama mom mo when you're still a child. Kayo ni Ding." Medyo annoyed na sabi ni Regina.
"Alam mo naman na iniingatan ko 'yung dalawa right? Love na love ko 'yun."
"Kahit na, hon. Bukas pagkuha natin sa twins mag apologize ka ha?" I nodded tapos i held her hand habang ang isang kamay ko nakahawak sa manibela.
Pagkadating namin sa event, samin napunta lahat ng attention ng mga press na nasa red carpet habang naglalakad kami papasok sa loob.
Kasunod naming dumating ay sina Brian at Flo tapos...
"Era!" Tumakbo ako palapit kay Era at niyakap ko sya. Close na rin kasi kami ngayon and matagal ko na syang hindi nakikita. 5 months ko na syang
hindi nakikita. 5 months ago kasi 'yung nag-usap kaming lahat at nagkaayos.
"How are you both? Oh god, i really miss you both!" Masaya nyang sabi sabay yakap rin ni Regina sakanya.
Wala nang awkwardness saming tatlo since nagkaroon na nga kami ng pag-uusap about sa issue and naka move on naman na raw si Era kay Regina after so many years.
Good for her.
5 months ago, she said na it took her many years bago sya naka move on from Regina. Feeling nya, once makita nya si Regina, babalik nanaman 'yung feelings nya kaya she got herself busy from work.
Lagi nya lang raw iniisip na kailangan nya maging busy para di nya maisip si Regina nung mga oras na 'yun, and honestly, i pitied her.
"So is there any special guests for tonight?" The interviewer asked Regina and me. "As you can see, yes. The one and only and the only great model i know, Era Salvador." They hugged each other again and here i am, smiling at them both.
I'm so happy for them na ganito na ulit sila ka-close katulad ng dati.
After ng few questions nila sa red carpet, pumasok na kami sa loob, and damn. Madilim na maliwanag dito sa loob.
Maliwanag dahil sa mga makukulay na ilaw tapos medyo madilim kasi 'yung theme is midnight.
I see na nandito rin 'yung trio who used to bully me around, many years ago.
"Narda!" She smiled at me tapos she even apologize for what she did, years ago. Syempre i forgave her since antagal na naming hindi nag m-meet. Never na rin kasi akong bumisita sa Nueva Esperanza after that day.
Maybe soon.
Pero not now muna siguro.
Pero ang nakakapagtaka kasi, andito rin sila Mara, hindi naman sila employee ni Regina dun sa EMT. Bakit kaya?
"Hello and welcome to the 70th Anniversary of Vanguardia Oil Company." The MC started to speak, so lahat ng attention namin napunta sa stage kung saan nagsasalita ang MC.
"May we call Regina Vanguardia-Custodio here on stage?" I smiled at Regina. I guided her papunta sa stage then bumalik ulit ako sa seat ko nung nasa taas na sya.
"First of all, thank you all for coming in here. Thank you for your hard works and alam ko, some of you anak pa ng mga dating trabahador dito sa Vanguardia Oil Company. It started with my grandfather and up until now, successful pa rin ang business." Ang galing galing nya talaga magdeliver ng words.
She never fail to amaze me, up until now.
"A massive thanks to my beautiful wife, kasi she's also helping me to manage the company and also EMT. Kung wala sya, wala rin ako."
Feeling ko nag s-sparkle 'yung mga mata ko ngayon, na t-touch ako sa sinasabi ni Regina.
"Thank you to the Salvador sisters and also kay tito Tirso na one of our biggest investors sa company. Up until now rin."
"Noah, thank you for your help rin to build multiple branches."
"Mom!" Jane and Janella shouted. "Oh, what are you guys doing here?" I'm smiling at them confuse. Kasama rin nila si lola at Ding na parehas naka formal attire.
Ang kambal naman naka formal attire din.
What is really happening? Is there something going on na kailangan kong malaman?
"May i call Narda Custodio here on stage?" Gusto sana sumama nung kambal sa'kin but pinigilan at binuhat sila ng tito Ding nila.
Lahat ng atensyon napunta saming dalawa.
"We've been married for so many years now. Ngayon na marriage anniversary rin natin, i have a gift for you."
"I've been preparing for this, for months now." She began to kneel.
What the heck is happening?! I'm being emotional now!
"Thank you for being a great mother to our own children, and thank you for being a good wife kahit minsan, i'm stubborn." Anong minsan? Palagi kaya.
"I would love to marry you again."
"Will you marry me, again?" Pagkasabi nya nyan ay inilabas nya ang itim na maliit na kahon na lagayan ng singsing.
Parang first time lang namin ulit 'to and...
"Yes, i will marry you again." She stood up at inilagay sa'kin ang diamond ring tapos we both hugged each other.
Sumunod naman na umakyat 'yung twin tapos nakiyakap rin samin.
Lahat ng tao na nandito sa event ay pumalakpak while we're being emotional.
"Mom, mommy, why are you both crying?" Paiyak na sabi ni Janella. "Tears of joy, baby." We both carried the twins tapos we smiled for the pictures.
I'm so happy to be with Regina.
I will always choose you, Reg.
I will always stay.
That Illicit Affair of us had already ended many years ago.
We're finally married and we're getting married again.
We have a beautiful twins who look exactly like us.
"Thank you for choosing me." I whispered.
"I didn't chose you, my heart did."
