Charlie's POV
We both headed back to the house with Patricia and Alfie. I was just glad Eddie knew that Patricia was a sinner, though it made me feel even more anxious about him being around her. We were looking for Fabian and KT.
Charlie" Anything?"
Patricia" Did you find KT?"
Alfie" No, Fabian either"
Charlie" Oh god, what if he has become a sinner, oh god not Fabian"
Eddie pulls me into his arms.
Eddie" It's okay sis, I'm sure he is fine, he has to be"
Alfie" So what do we do now?"
Patricia" I'll ask Trudy"
Twins" Great idea!"
Alfie" What's with you both?"
Eddie" Look, KT is not the one working for team evil, Patricia is"
Alfie" What? How do you know? What?"
Charlie" She was trying to capture you earlier when we came along"
Alfie" She was what?"
Twins" Shhhh!"
Alfie" Oh, man, we locked KT up with Patricia, we were horrible to her!"
Eddie" I know.I know, but she's with Fabian now, okay? They'll be okay"
Charlie" If my Fabian is not a sinner"
Eddie" Not helping Charlie"
Charlie" Sorry"
Eddie" Look I'm gonna have to "evilsit".
Eddie goes to leave and I grab his arm.
Charlie" Eddie wait"
Eddie" Yeah"
Charlie" Be careful"
Eddie" Always"
He disappears into the living room and leaves me with Alfie.
Eddie's POV
Patricia" Trudy is useless, she doesn't know anything, I'm going to go and find Fabian"
Eddie" Wait, Wait.Uh, I thought we could spend some quality time. You know, just you and me"
I stare at the empty living room.
Eddie" All by ourselves, together"
Patricia" Okay.
I paced up and down the living room while Patricia sat on the couch wearing a very bored expression.
Eddie" Don't suppose you remember the nursery rhyme, we need to find those artefacts"
Patricia" I've tried, but it's no good.I can't remember it"
Eddie" You know, we could try word association, you know, I say a word, and you say the first thing that comes to your head"
Patricia" That just sounds stupid"
Eddie" But it could help"
Patricia" Okay"
Eddie" Okay, Uh, here, close your eyes, empty your mind, Childhood"
Patricia" Toys"
Eddie" Lullaby"
Patricia" Sleep"
Eddie" Nursery rhyme"
Patricia" Repressed childhood memory trying to surface to save the world, Look, I can't remember it, okay? I don't know any nursery rhymes"
Eddie" None?"
Patricia" No, my sister teased me about it my whole life. She thought it was hilarious I didn't know who Humpty Dumpty was"
Eddie" Sister, be right back"
I had an idea, I had to talk to her sister if I know anything from being a twin is that, twins had arguments but were always very close.
Alfie's POV
I exit the living room at least Willow was out of the way, the last thing I wanted to happen to her, was for her to be at The Gatehouse again. I see Joy sitting on the chair by the stairs crying.
Alfie" Joy, what's wrong?"
Joy" What's right?"
Alfie" Um, if this is a riddle, I should probably tell you that I'm not very good at those, Fabian's your man"
She then starts crying again.
Alfie" Or maybe not"
Joy" I just saw him, and he was really horrible to me"
Alfie" No, no, Fabian doesn't do horrible"
Joy" He said the reason why I got dumped is because everyone despises me and that I can't expect anyone to want to date me"
Alfie" Wait are we talking about the same Fabian? Dark hair, button-up sweater, boyfriend to Charlie, nice to everyone Fabian?"
Joy" Everyone but me, apparently, Alfie, I don't know what I did, It's like he's a completely different person"
Alfie" Joy, when was this?"
Joy" A few minutes ago"
Alfie" What was he doing? Where was he going?"
Joy" He was heading out with KT"
Alfie" No, no, no!"
I leg it out of the house this wasn't good, this wasn't good at all.
Charlie's POV
After Eddie had filled me on his plan to contact Piper we headed to her room to get Patricia's laptop.
Eddie" You see the thing is, Piper, me and my sister are planning this surprise thing for your sister"
Piper" Aw, so sweet"
Eddie"Yeah"
Charlie" She said you guys were taught a special nursery rhyme, except she can't remember the words"
Piper" No, because misery guts covered her ears"
Eddie" Yeah, can you remember it?"
Eddie" It starts with"
Twins" High and low in dale"
Piper" High and low in dale and hill"
Twins" Something, something, mends all ill"
Charlie" Yes, yes! Okay and then it goes"
Twins"There is just one"
Piper" Just one thing you'll need in the summerhouse beneath the wheats"
Eddie" Yes, we just need to find a summerhouse!"
Piper" Eddie, are you sure you're all right?"
Eddie" Yes, don't worry"
Patricia then barges in making us both jump.
Patricia" Eddie,Charlie there's a party going on in the...what are you doing with my laptop?"
Charlie" Wha nothing"
Eddie slams the lid down nearly catching my fingers in it.
Eddie" We just borrowed it"
Patricia" Who were you talking to?"
Eddie" No one but party, you say awesome"
Charlie" We love parties"
She then pushes Eddie and I back in our seats and I can see fear clearly etched across Eddie's face. She then pulls the lid up again showing Piper.
Piper" Hey, sorry I lost connection, oh Hi"
Patricia" Hello, Piper, fancy seeing you here. What is going on?"
Piper" None of your business"
Patricia" Tell me!"
Piper" No way, I'm not ruining the surprise"
Patricia" A surprise? Really?"
Eddie" Yes, Yeah"
She slams the lid down on Piper.
Patricia" When am I getting it?"
Eddie" Well, later, just quite a bit later"
This wasn't awkward.
After the awkward conversation in the bedroom I was stood with Eddie both of us drinking some fizzy pop. Trudy wasn't impressed by the three minute warning.
Trudy" Well, this is all I could rustle up. Usually I have a bit more than a three-minute warning"
Miss Denby" Nonsense, the best parties are always the spontaneous ones. Isn't that right? Come on, everybody.
It isn't a party without dancing"
Victor"Perhaps they don't share your definition of fun, Miss Denby"
Miss Denby" And what would you suggest, we all sit around stuffing dead animals, come on, Willow"
Charlie" Oh, my eyes"
The last thing I needed to see was Miss Denby dancing. While she danced with Willow, Victor approaches us.
Victor" Where are your friends?"
Eddie pushes me slightly behind him.
Eddie" Uh, They're probably getting changed into their party clothes, seeing as this is a party"
Charlie"They'll be here soon"
After a fight between Mara and Joy erupts in the kitchen Eddie and I take this as our opporturnity to sneak away from Victor and Denby. It makes us jump when the front door opens but it's only Alfie.
Charlie" It's only you Alfie"
Alfie" Is KT here?"
Eddie" No, we was just gonna look for her"
Alfie" Oh, no, I've lost her, she hasn't come through here, you're sure?"
Twins" Uh No, no"
Alfie" There's only one place, he could have taken her"
Charlie" Who?"
Alfie" Fabian"
Charlie" No, not Fabian, no, please not Fabian"
Alfie" I'm sorry Charlie,I think he's got her to go to the Gatehouse"
Charlie" We've got to stop her"
Eddie" Stall Fabian"
Alfie's POV
I watch the twins take off into the night. Fabian enters not long after.
Alfie" Where is she?"
Fabian" Who?"
Alfie" You know who, KT. What have you done with her?"
Fabian" She went to the Gatehouse, If you want to join her, be my guest"
Alfie" You're a sinner, aren't you? You've been taken"
Fabian" Me? Nice little geeky Fabian, they'll never believe you"
Alfie" I told the twins, they believe me"
Alfie" You think I can't convince both of them that you got it wrong, my stupid girlfriend, you always get it wrong, Alfie, you are the joke of the group. And I will always be two steps ahead of you"
Charlie's POV
We reached The gatehouse and sprint down the drive.
Twins" KT!"
KT" Eddie, Charlie No, behind you!"
Both of looks around and then I see him right there in front of us.
Story Notes
So Fabian could possibly be a Sinner. KT has disappeared so The Twins have gone in search for her and Eddie tries to get Patricia to remember a rhyme.
