harumi's pov
"i think...i think i like you too, green ninja,"
i'm surprised by myself. yet somehow when the words leave my mouth they don't feel wrong...
i've been thinking about this since my conversation with nya.
lloyd was the first ninja to actually be nice to me after the whole "garmadon existential crisis" thing. plus i constantly want him to like me and worry about him and he is kinda cute...
but before i have time to overthink this again, a smile creeps over lloyd's shocked face as he processes what i said.
"actually?" he asks.
"ye-yeah,"
out of nowhere he laughs. i feel a blush spread across my cheeks.
"what!? what's so funny?!"
"actually?"
"yeah!" i look at him weird. "do you want me to say no?"
"no!"
as lloyd says that he wraps his arms around me and holds on tight in a close hug. my body freezes for a moment and then i relax, and hold him back, burying my face in his hair, which had, by the way, not been washed since the fight with garmadon.
i can't believe i had ever hated him. then again it's hard to hate, even dislike anyone when they're holding you like this and you know they care this much for you.
and in an instant, i realize how much i needed this. how long i had been waiting. searching, for... a just a hug. for someone to care for me.
lloyd pulls back and i almost say something in protest, but then he stares straight into my eyes and i can tell he's feeling emotional as well.
and then his face is close, closer, closer.
my heart beat seems to speed up a million times, along with my thoughts.
i feel like everything is melting away- garmadon, the other ninja, the room- and all that is left is those stunning green eyes. lloyd and me.
from where i am i can see every eyelash, every old scar, even a couple freckles here and there.
"can i...?" lloyd's voice slowly drifted off.
and then i did something stupid.
i kissed him. i kissed him.
this all happened so quick.
it was just as good as a hug but in a different way. i dig my fingers through his hair and over his face and shoulders, cherishing it when he returned the affection. he tastes like cookie dough.
kissing lloyd is so much better than taking over ninjago or getting revenge. so, so much better. and-
"oh! uh..."
we break apart and i turn towards the open door. in it stands cole, video game controller in hand. "sorry." he looks very uncomfurtable.
i'll be honest- so am i.
"sorry, i'll just... um." cole waves his arms through the air. "i'll just go." he ackwardly backs away.
i turn to lloyd. he looks as started as me.
and in the same moment, we both burst out laughing.
