Also, I really wanted to write something like this, because Jeno's personality is just so endearing. Obviously, the Dreamies tease him out of love. So I'm not shading any of the members. Several times, the Dreamies brought up how Jeno got hurt easily. He did. The majority of the time, he tried to keep those feelings to himself. As your love for each other grew, Jeno became more open.
"(Y/n)-ah." His deep voice called your name one afternoon.
He had walked into the kitchen where you were washing the dishes. Earlier he had come to your apartment from dance practice. So the two of you ended up having a small lunch together.
His strong arms pulled you into a back-hug. This time, he held you tighter than usual.
"What's the matter?" You felt him hesitate. He rested his chin on your shoulder and responded in a small voice.
"Do you really think I'm no fun?"
Your understanding of his question was delayed. His members took any chance to remind the fans of Jeno's boring humor. Of course, no malicious intentions were behind their teasing. On the outside, Jeno laughed along with them.
But deep down, insecurities weighed down on him. However, their words were primarily true. He still felt bad. How come he couldn't be quick-witted like Chenle or Haechan?
"What are you saying? You're so much fun to be with Jeno-ssi!" You said, quickly drying your hands with a towel.
The puppy-like man nuzzled into your neck. "I'm just being stupid, right? I shouldn't feel upset."
The words he used to belittle himself, caused you to turn around to face him. For exactly three seconds, you held his gaze. Then you were the one hugging him tightly.
"It's okay to be upset, I don't blame you. And you're not stupid."
This was the sternest tone Jeno had heard from you. You seldom showed any sign of confidence in what you were saying. But you were sure about this.
You pulled away slightly to glance up at him. "For the record, your jokes always make me laugh. Lee Donghyuck has no idea what he's talking about."
Jeno let out a chuckle. Sure, you were exaggerating a little bit. But he knew you were being sincere. That was something he never doubted.
"I love you, (Y/n)-ah."
Those rare three words were enough to express his gratitude. You smiled and stood on the tip of your toes to kiss him.
"Even if you were boring, I'd still love you right back, Lee Jeno."
