"So like urmmm wtf."Niyah said once Sherika had left and we was all in the living room
"Ion shit about raising a child."Ace said
"You bout to learn the hard way then."Leo said
"We gotta go back to the store you ain't got nun for no kid."I said
"Mane I can't believe this is happening to me."Ace said
"We'll it's time to believe it cause that lil girl don't deserve to be in none of this."Asian said.
I pulled Ace into a separate room
"How you gone tell Stacey about this."I asked
"What can I do except be honest."He replied
"If she chooses to cut ties with you then you have to understand you know that right."I said
"Yeah I -"He started
"No Ace nobody wants to play stepmum at 20 years old it don't matter how much you like her or she likes you furthermore you know what type of girl Sherika is. I'm not saying you gotta be with her now cause god forbid but Stacey does not deserve to be a part of this."I said
"Nah I hear you."Ace said looking defeated
"Look I know this isn't the best situation but right now there a little girl out there who needs her dad."I said

We made our way back to the group and everyone was acting as if nothing even happened. Kiyah was playing with Ava. Leo and Asian were bickering. Niyah scrolling Instagram and Keon was outside smoking. I couldn't help but laugh at how predictable all of them were
"Yo Jade." Hackz whispered to me from on of the other rooms in the hallway
I crept over not trying to be seen
"I'm gonna do it today."He said
"Omg omg omg."I squealed
"But I need you to keep her busy for the day while I decorate."He said
"Where you doing it."I asked
"She's made it clear time and time again she don't want a public proposal she wants something small and intimate with the people she loves around her."He said
"What about her pops."I asked
"You know he's still serving so he can't be here in person but we agreed he gone be on ft on the screen."Hackz replied
"Okays okays you got help to decorate?"I asked
"Yeah that's all sorted I just need time so you gotta keep her busy."He replied
"Bet I got u."I said
"Kiyah do you wanna come to the store with me and Ace to get things for Mei."I asked
"Omg yes I'm sitting in the back with her."She said rushing to get up
"We need to make a list starting with a car seat."I said

At the store we made our way thru all the aisles filling up trolleys as we went.As of right now Ava hadn't really said much all the new faces we're definitely a bit overwhelming.
"Asians brothers have autism don't they."Kiyah said
"Yeah you're right I'll ask her if we can pass by afterwards to ask her mum for some help."I said
Asian had twin brothers who were autistic I swear I ain't met no kids as smart as they are
"Imma need all the help I can get man."Ace said shaking his head
"We're all in this together.I said trying to reassure Ace
"Hey girl."I said into the camera as the call connected
"Wassup."Asian replied
"Is your Mama home."I asked
"Ofc she is that lady ain't got no friends."She replied
"Mane you wild."Ace said
"Anyways we was gonna pass by cause uno she gone know better than us What Ava gone need."I said
"Yeah dass kool I'll let her know. The boys ain't gone be there tho they gone be at practice."She said
"Okays okays love you."I said ending the call
"You wanna get toys Ava?"Ace asked her
She just nodded her head shyly avoiding eye contact. Once we made it to the toys section she loosed up her eyes lit up at all the toys surrounding her
"Pick anything you want."Kiyah said.
She went thru touching everything she wanted before she stopped at the giant teddy bears. She climbed up on it and sat in the middle.
"You want the teddy?"Ace asked
"Mhm."she mumbled playing with her hands
I got her a teddy that was attached to a blanket and she would not let go of it.
We made our way to Asians mums house
"Hello my babies."She says embracing us all
"Now It can't have been that long since I last seen you guys so how has this happened."She said looking over at Ava
"Yeah I know."Ace laughed explaining the situation briefly
"You guys come and sit down and I'll get something to eat."Asians mum said
"So tell me what is it you guys needed help with Amiri wouldn't say."She said
"Ava has autism and uno obviously Remel and Terel have autism so I just need some advice."Ace said
"Well first of no two kids are the same especially when they have autism. Remel and Terel are identical twins and they sit polar opposites in my eyes."She said
"We've been trying to get her to eat something all day but she won't." I said.
"Sensory issues."Asians mum said
"What exactly is that?" Ace asked
"Sensory overload happens when one or more of the body's senses experiences over-stimulation. it's very common in autistic people and it can cause meltdowns and panic attacks."She said.
"lemme try this."She said getting up
She came back with red star shaped cookies a plate with heart shaped salami a plate with some lightning shaped cucumber cut outs and a plate with some corn on it she placed them down in front of Ava
She slowly picked at the red cookies before she began to eating one. after she was done she played with her salami before eating that too.She didn't pay the corn no mind but she did try some on the cucumber
"You gotta be extremely patient and start slow. you've got to make eating enjoyable. Try starting out with just ingredients then putting things together these shape cutters gone be your best friend."She said
"I've got a spare pack lemme go get that for you."She says getting up
We had been at Asians for a while now her mum talked us through so much and it was so helpful her brothers were back now.being they were 10 the didn't have much in common with Ava but seeing them interact was nice.
"We'll if you ever need anything just let me know and make sure you bring Ava round I miss when they boys were her size."she said walking us out
"Thank you so much and will do."Ace said
Keeping Kiyah busy was actually much easier than I thought.It was dark out now and when we got in the car I got that "we're ready" text from Hackz.
"Harper won't pick up my calls he's probably trying to leave me because I'm going to be so big."Kiyah cried
"He's not going to do that."I said
"Let's go back to our place."I said to Ace
I had played my part perfectly.When we arrived it was pretty dark expect for the faint glowing of candles In the distance
"Why's it so quiet."Kiyah said
As she made her way in Music started to play
"Omg."She froze looking at the scene infront of her
Everyone did a great job the hallway was completely covered in roses ballons and candles and in the centre of it all was Hackz on one knee with a giant will you marry me sign behind him.
"I'm gonna cry."Kiyah said walking towards him
"Makiyah Sage Romero Its almost been two years of me and you with forever to go,and now we're going to be three.We started this journey saying we're not looking for perfect we're looking for real and I can honestly say our relationship is the realest thing I've had in my life. I always promised I'd make you my wife before my babymother and that's exactly what I'm going to do. Will you marry me?!"
"Yes yes yes."Kiyah cried
It was honestly so beautiful and emotional. To think that we moved back to Chicago Just over a year ago and to see how much our lives have changed with the people we love around us made my heart melt
"Congratulations baby."Kiyahs said said from the screen
"Omg omg omg."She cried even more
"I'm sorry I couldn't be there in person but I love you and I'm so proud of you."He said.
