Flashback .
I tiptoe out of my room and head for the kitchen .
* creak *
I turn instantly and find my sister also sneaking out from her room .
After recovering from the shock , I stand straight and fold my arms .
I smile , from the heart attack she almost had when she saw me .
" Why are you up . " - she mouths tiptoeing to me .
" I'm hungry . " - I mouth back .
" Me too . " - she whispers when we now stand side by side .
" Let's go then " - We continue to tiptoe down the kitchen .
" I'm turning on the lights , Shayari . " -
" ok . " -
The bulb brightens up the place as we both head for the fridge .
Our hands holding the cake my mom had baked in the morning to gift it to the new neighbour .
We both smile at each other and high five each other .
We place the two layer cake on the table and look at each other .
" I think we should take the first layer and leave the other layer . " -
Pakeeza nods while we strategically take the first layer off partially ruining an iced part of the first layer .
" Take a seat . " - we each take our forks and dig in .
" Mom should definitely start a bakery . " -
" Definitely . " -
* Someone clears throat . *
" * Sighs * when you know your children just too well . " - she folds her arms , shakes her head and eventually smiles .
" * sigh * Pakeeza , get me a fork please . " -
End of flashback .
Worrying mom was our thing you know .
" The fact that she would sometimes chase us around the house ." - I smile but it instantly drops.
" * Tears up * I even miss your yelling in my ears when it's Fajr time . " -
Ya Allah , * sniff * You said we should give thanks to you no matter what happens , whether good or bad .
