"Where're you going, girl?"
Tears pricked my eyes as I ran through the tall grass of Badham. The Legion member laughed evilly, chasing after me with her knife raised. She always teased me like this. In fact, all of the Legion did. I hadn't been in the Entity's realm for very long; I was quite new. I was also way younger than the others, with me still being a teenager and all. Because of this, I struggled greatly in trials. The Legion liked to take advantage of me. I dreaded being on trial with them more than other killers, and that was saying something. I just hated how they made fun of me.
"You can't run."
I shrieked in pain as the Legion member grabbed my hair and yanked me back by it violently. She balled it up tight in her bandaged fist, grinning insanely at me from behind her mask. She pulled my back against her chest, making me look dead in her eye.
"Too easy." The Legion member snickered.
My scream was cut short by the silver glint of her knife, thrusting down towards my heart.
Susie
"You're so cute, girlie! I almost feel sorry for you."
The pink haired Legion girl tilted her head with a pout on her masked face. I was backed into a brick wall, covered in cuts and bruises from a gruelling chase. It didn't matter now, because she caught me.
"Please..." I whispered.
I shook wildly, sliding down the wall and onto the ground. I lifted a hand up in a pathetic attempt to shield myself from her attacks. I was so tired from running, so weak. The girl had chased me relentlessly, not resting for a second. She slashed into my skin at every chance she got, laughing chaotically while doing so.
"Sweet dreams, princess."
The Legion member launched herself towards me with her knife ready. Tears streamed down my face as I screamed like a banshee.
Joey
"Seriously, babe? This is getting embarrassing." The Legion member wheezed out a chuckle, his shoulders shaking as he peered up at me with his chocolate eyes. "You know, me and the others have a name for you. We call you Ditzy." He said.
My chest heaved as I gripped onto the top of the hook I hung from. It chafed and scraped against my collarbone, making me cry out and holler. I stared wide eyed at the Legion member standing in front of me. The skull print on his mask was grim and mocking. Then again, the Legion was always like that towards me.
He turned away from me with a dark chuckle, while the Entity's sharp claws came down. I resisted against them for what seemed like the hundredth time, growing angry. I couldn't do this anymore.
"Ugh, that's it!"
I stormed over to the campfire after being sacrificed yet again, plopping down onto a log with my arms crossed. A few other survivors soon joined in, rocking up to the camp and sitting around me. Kate Denson spotted my flustered expression from across the flames, her brow furrowing in concern.
"What's wrong, honey?" She frowned.
The older girl sat next to me, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. I sighed glumly and relaxed against her, some other survivors tuning in.
"The killers keep getting me. I can't win." I muttered, my cheeks heating up in embarrassment.
A few 'ooh's' and 'aww's' of pity sounded from some of the other female survivors.
"It's okay, darling. You're still learning. You'll get better." Kate said.
I met her eyes, her kind smile illuminated by the orange glow of the fire.
"Thanks, Kate." I smiled back sadly.
Adam Francis perked up and approached, standing in front of us. "I could teach you a thing or two! It'd be my pleasure." He offered.
Nea Karlsson nodded her head, smirking coolly down at me with her arms crossed. "I'll give ya some tips." She shrugged.
Dwight Fairfield sat down next to me, too setting his hand down on my shoulder. "We're a team. We're here to help each other." He said.
The other survivors all closed in, giving me glowing words of encouragement, with the promise of helping me get better.
"Thanks, guys." Tears pricked my eyes as a crooked smile crept along my face.
The Legion weren't going to know what hit them.
Frank
"What's up, Ditzy?" The Legion leader teased as he waved mockingly at me.
The older boy swaggered on over, toying with the knife in his grasp. I didn't reply, and simply stared flatly at him.
"Gonna start running?" He asked.
I remained where I was, with the Legion leader slowly closing in. When I still didn't budge, he huffed like a child.
"C'mon, Ditzy. It's not fun when you don't play along. Where's those pretty little screams I love so much?" He crooned.
The Legion leader's knife moved the smallest bit in his hand, and that was when my fist shot out. At the speed of light, it collided with the stupid skull tattoo inked on his neck. He gasped and wheezed, clutching his throat as he doubled over. I turned on my heel and sprinted away, not looking back.
"Feisty!" I heard him sputter out something that almost sounded like a laugh.
My lungs began to burn as I planted like a dog. I ran as far as my legs would let me before rounding a corner within the old meat plant, and practically heaving in exhaustion. It felt pretty good doing that. I was so sick of the Legion picking on me. I hoped he wouldn't bother me again, even if it was just for a little while.
I smirked proudly to myself, striding over to a generator. The other survivors were showing me how to be more fearless in trials, as well as how to be efficient. I used to fumble a little bit when repairing generators, but this time it went smooth and swift.
Though much to my dismay, the Legion leader came back for me. My heart thumped against my chest, notifying me of his presence that was creeping up from behind. I shot up from the generator and whipped around to face him.
"Gotcha now, Ditz!" He exclaimed.
The Legion leader sliced his knife through the air, barely missing me. I dodged just in time, slinking away from his wrath. He was wearing a mask, but I could just tell his jaw dropped. He thrusted the knife my way again, only for me to duck under it.
"What the...?"
He stood there dumbfounded. Usually, he could down me with his blade just like that. I rarely got away, if at all. But now, I had been here for a little while. The older survivors were to assisting and teaching me in trials as much as they could. They could tell also that the Legion's 'bullying' was getting to me. It was different now though. I was stronger, harder to beat, and definitely not ditzy.
Susie
"Ditzy!" The pink haired Legion member squealed in anger.
I had just slammed a pallet onto her head, effectively stunning her. She hissed in pain and clutched her sore forehead, seething under her mask.
"What the hell? Since when did you do that?" The Legion girl demanded.
I stood on the opposite side of the fallen pallet, my shoulders shaking as I chuckled. I then pulled my flashlight out, and flicked it on.
"Since now." I shrugged.
I pointed it directly into her eyes and temporarily blinded her with the bright light. The Legion member squealed again, shielding her masked face with her hands.
"Stop it!" She whined.
Joey
I placed my hands on my hips and stared down at the Legion boy with an unimpressed look on my young features. He was laying on the ground, clutching his crotch that I had just kicked. He still wore that skull mask, but it wasn't as threatening as it used to be. Now it was beneath me.
"Julie's right about you, Ditzy. You are sexy." The Legion member wheezed.
I screwed my face up in disgust. There he was, curled up in the dirt after I hit him where the sun didn't shine, and he was trying to flirt with me. And after everything him and his Legion had done to me!
"In you and her dreams." I scoffed.
With a flick of my hair, I twirled around and strutted away in search of the final generator.
"Goddamn, that's hot." I heard him grunt to himself.
I glanced back over my shoulder, watching the Legion member pull himself to his shaky feet. He met my eyes and lifted his knife out, pointing it towards me.
"I'm coming back for you, Ditz. You're mine—you're ours. Watch your back."
As the older boy disappeared within the fog to find the others, something brewed in the pit of my stomach. As much as I hated the Legion, I almost liked the thought of being theirs... even if that was sick and twisted.
"Bring it on." I whispered with a smirk.
