Aaron's POV
The alarm went off at 6. This was an hour earlier than you normally needed to wake up at. You wake up as you turn it off. Emily rolls out of bed as soon as she hears it and walks into the bathroom. You were confused but you get out of bed as well. You heard the water running as you start getting ready for the day. You walk down to the kitchen and open the door to see the paper had been delivered. You close the door and make yourself coffee before opening the paper and reading it.
Emilys POV
You woke up to your alarm and quickly hop into the shower. You were nervous to say the least about today. You shaved your legs in the shower before hopping out and throwing on a robe. You didn't wash your hair this morning so it was dry and you could straighten it. You plug in your straightener before brushing your hair. You slowly straighten it before going to your wardrobe and pulling out some outfits.
Since Aaron was out of bed you called him back up to your room. "Aaron bedroom now" he came up running frantically. "Hey Em, is everything okay?" "Which outfit says I'm pregnant and my boss is the father but it's more than that and I'm happy" she asks as she freaks out. You look at her puzzled before she rolls her eyes and let's you leave. You scurry out and head back to your newspaper.
You knew she was normally anxious before seeing her mother but these hormones definitely aren't helping.
Emily's POV
The outfit that you picked last night didn't look right on you this morning. Your clothes were all starting to look weird on you now. On the bright side, your morning sickness was subsiding as you were finishing up with first trimester and entering the second.
You just threw your original outfit on before starting your makeup. You wore work pants and your white shirt. You wore it loosely to cover your bump now. You then did a light makeup look before going downstairs and seeing Aaron reading the newspaper. "You ready to go?" He asks cautiously. "Yes, sorry I was a little stressed up there" you say.
You give him a quick kiss before you both drove to get some coffee. You get a pastry and a decaf coffee while Aaron just got a coffee. You eat in the car before parking and making your way into the bau. You get there 20 minutes early and just dive straight into work.
The whole group came in shortly after but you were so focused on your file that you didn't noticed. At 11 Aaron comes down from his office and walks to your desk. "Prentiss are you ready to go?" he asks as you look up at him. Wow did time fly by fast. You nodded your head yes as you grabbed your bag and both walked out to the car together. The traffic was bad but you had already planned that so you left extra early. You made it to the restaurant with 15 minutes to spare.
Aaron's POV
Emily was biting her nails the whole car ride. She was in her own little world and freaking out. The traffic was bad so it took you a while to get there. You left super early though so you still had 15 minutes to spare. You parked and see that Emily was still daydreaming. "Emily" you say softly to which she responds by turning around. You take her hands and squeeze them. "Emily it's going to be okay, it doesn't matter what your mother thinks because you and I are excited to raise this baby together and that's all that matters okay?" She smiles as her eyes get watery. You kiss her gently and just keep holding her hand.
Emily's POV
You started to calm down as you watched the people coming in and out of the restaurant. Aaron's little pep talks always seem to really move you. You also know he's right, you are a grown adult who is financially stable and in a committed relationships so now would be the best time to have a baby. Plus your mother has been pestering you about giving her grandchildren for years now.
Well she would've preferred if you got married first and maybe figured this all out like 10 years ago. Also the fact that Aaron's divorced won't help with your mothers opinion on him. But you also rarely see her so it doesn't matter.
You suddenly see your mother walk into the restaurant which ended your spiral thankfully. "Emily?" You hear Aaron ask. "She's here" you say. You take a deep breath before you both head in at 11:57. Aaron took your hand and you walked in. As soon as you could see your mother, he let go. You both walked to the table where your mother was waiting.
"Hi Emily" "Hi mom" you say as you give each other a quick hug. "Agent Hotchner" your mother says as she shakes his hand before you all sit down. Aaron and you were sitting right next to each other as he placed his hand on your thigh as you hold onto his hand. Your mother thankfully couldn't see his hand but you really needed Aaron's touch to calm you down.
"Well what did you want to talk about?" Your mother asks as she breaks the silence. "Why don't we order first and then have this conversation" "alright" she says as you all pick up the menus.
You look at the menus before the waiter comes over. "Hello are you guys ready to order?" He asks as your mother says yes. "I will have the Chilled Green Asparagus Soup with a Cappuccino". "And for you sir?" He asks looking at Aaron "I'll have to Summer Vegetable Salad and an Espresso Thanks" "and for you?" The waiter says as he looks at you.
"Can I have Mascarpone pancakes with breakfast potatoes and the LOX and bagel with a Daily Green smoothie oh and do you have whipped cream?" you ask as he nods. "Well can I have a ton of that on all my food? Thank you" The waiter then takes your menus and leaves.
"Well that's quiet an order" your mother says quiets surprised. Aaron chuckles a bit "she's very hungry" he says as she just nods still confused.
"So are you and Aaron dating?" You look at him before answering. "Um yes we are" you say as you both look at each other with a smile. "And does the bureau know?" she then asks. "Um yes we told Strauss yesterday and filled out the paperwork. Now we are waiting to talk to HR about it"
"How long have you guys been dating for?" she then asks. "You look at each other before you answer again "well we have been only dating for a month but it is very serious" you add on. "Alright" she says as she adjusts to the fact that you were dating in work.
"Is that all?" Your mother asks as you see the waiter come over. "Oh I think that's our food" you say as you all eye the waiter. The waiter comes over and hands you all your food. He then hands you a cup of whipped cream. You drown it on your pancakes as you start eating. You were quickly eating your food as you were starving. Your mother was just looking at you shocked while Aaron was unphased as they both ate their meals slowly. You all sit in silence as you all eat your meals.
Once your mother finishes her meal she re asks the question. "Is there anything else you would like to tell me?" she asks again. You look at Aaron before you started talking. "I'm pregnant" you say as he squeezes your hand. Your mothers face turned white. Your mother goes silent as you eat your bagel.
"Have you gone to the doctors yet?" she asks. You wipe your hands before going into your bag and handing her an ultrasound picture. "Wow they are so big" she says with a smile. "How many weeks are you?" she asks. "16" you say nervously.
"But I thought you and Aaron have only been dating for a month?" she says confused. "Is Aaron not the father?" she asks again. "No he is, um" you say as she looked at you confused. "We had a difficult case three months ago. I got held hostage and beaten up, I'm fine now and I only had some bruising. Aaron was being super protective of me that day and then one thing led to another. We didn't really speak of it until two months later I showed up at his doorstep and told him I was pregnant." "And we have been dating ever since" Aaron adds in with a smile.
"Well this is a lot to process" she says as she goes quiet. You could feel the tension growing as Aaron squeezes your hand again. "Are you 100% sure Aaron's the father? Have you done a paternity test?" she asks as you feel your blood boil. "Yes mom I am a hundred percent sure the baby is his as Aaron is the only person that I've slept with in months making him the only possible candidate" you say as you feel Aaron stroking your hand gently with his thumb.
"I love your daughter and I love this baby so much already. I can't wait to me them and I promise you that I will never leave Emily or our child" Aaron adds in. You turn to him and smile. "I love you too and I can't wait to raise this baby with you" you say as you lean on his chest. You couldn't believe that this was the first time he said I love you.
"Well who is your ob?" she asks you. "Ali Smith, my roommate at Yale?" "Oh Alison, how is she? I was only out with her parents for lunch a few weeks ago" "she's good" you say. "Good, that's good to hear" she responds. The waiter comes over and your mother gets the check and pays.
"Well I have to be back to work in 20 but I'm free next month if you want to do this again?" She says as you all stand up. "I would love to thanks" you say before you both walk out to the car.
"Well that went much better than expected" you say with a smile. "Yeah and wasn't this better than telling her over the phone" Aaron says as you roll your eyes. "Well I guess the food was a bonus" you say before you both start laughing. The moment quickly gets cut short when Aaron's phone rings.
"Agent Hotchner speaking" he says as he picks up. You found it fascinating at how quickly he could change from Aaron to Hotch in seconds.
"We just got called in on a case" Aaron says with his brows furrowed. "Okay-are we going straight to the jet?" you ask as he nods. You relaxed your eyes as Aaron drove you.
Aaron's POV
With all the stress Emily put herself under about meeting her mom and telling her the news, it was no surprise that she passed out almost immediately after getting in the car. It was amazing how she could easily sleep in the car. You could tell that she was out by the way her mouth hug open and light snore came out.
You eventually park the car and wake Emily up gently. You both walk onto the jet and saw that most of the seats were taken. You both sit down in your regular spots as Emily sat next to you. Your hand was resting on her thigh as you were discussing the case. Before finally arriving in California. By the time you landed, it was too late to go to the precinct so you went straight to the hotel as Emily was out for the count as soon as you opened the door to your room.
