Jay's POV
I get out of bed and head into the kids room. They're both awake playing with each other by their toy chest. They're just the cutest. I can't believe they're actually mine.
"Good morning kids" I say as I walk over to them
"Where's mama?" Halston asked
"She went to make you breakfast. How about we freshen up and meet her down there" I say
Both kids get up and run into their bathroom. Grabbing their toothbrushes and toothpaste and brushing their teeth. I make their beds before they finished.
"We're done Jay!" Kai yells running back into the room
"Alright, let me freshen myself up then we'll head down. Stay put and wait for me" I say before leaving the room and into Val's bathroom and brushing my teeth.

After I finished, I headed back into the kids rooms and carried them downstairs to meet Val in the kitchen.
"Mama look what I found in the closet!" Kai says holding up a small polaroid picture
"Where did you find that?" Val asks
"In the box on top of the drawer in our closet!" Kai says
"Did you climb?!" Val asks in shock
"Maybe. But look!" Kai waves the photo at me
I look at the photo and in the photo was both Val and I pictured together. It was the picture taken during the babies gender reveal. I was hugging Val while cradling her stomach. We looked so happy there.
"Please don't climb again" Val says grabbing Kai from me
"Is that us in your tummy?" Kai asks
"Yes" Val says
"Why is it just you two in the picture? Why is Jay holding your belly?" Halston asks
"Do you guys wanna know why there's that picture?" I say as I walk over and grab Val's hand
"Because you guys are best friends!" Halston chimes
Val looks at me with reassuring eyes.
"As you both know, I'm a detective and I have a lot of important work to do" I say
"Yeah like our daddy. That's why he is away" Kai says
"You're right. But he's back now" I say
"Where is he!?" Halston jumps in my arms
"He's right here" Val says caressing my cheek
"Jay is our daddy?" Kai questions
"Yes honey. He's been with us this whole time" Val smiles
"I knew it! No wonder why you had the same name as my daddy" Halston says wrapping her arms around me
"Welcome back daddy" Kai says jumping out of Val's arms and into mines embracing me as well
"We're a family now?" Halston asks
"Yes. We're a family now" Val says hugging us all
"Thank you for everything" I said

Val's POV
The kids now know that Jay is their father. Everything just seems so right at the moment. We're finally a family now.
We decided to just lay low and hang around today. Letting the kids enjoying their time with their dad. Jay's outside by the pool with them while I prepped the food for the grill.
"Hey babe are you all set?" Jay asks coming in
"Yeah. Could you help me bring these plates out?" I asked as I carried two in my hand
Jay grabbed the other two plates and we both headed out to the grill. Jay begins grilling the food right away as I hang with the kids.
"Mama watch this!" Kai says before spinning into the pool
"My turn!" Halston follows
"Careful you two" I call out
"They're wild just like you" Jay says
"Kai is literally your twin" I laughed
"You think so?"
"Oh 100%. He has the same personality as you"
"I mean, he is my kid after all"
"Mama I'm hungry!" Halston calls out
"Foods almost ready! How about you two dry off and come over here and take a seat for a bit" I say
The kids both got out of the pool and then made their way over to the table. Both sitting patiently and watching their dad grill in admiration.
"Are you okay mama?" Halston asks
"Yes honey why wouldn't I be?" I smiled
"You're bleeding from your cut" she says
That was when I noticed there was blood running down my face. It must've bled through the stitches.
"Let me go get the aid kit" Jay says
"Don't worry. I'll go. Stay here and finish grilling the food. I'll be right back" I say before going inside
I grab the aid kit from the cabinet then went into the bathroom. I remove the soaked bandaid and cleaned the stitches and area. It stung like a bitch. I bandaged it up went back outside. Right as I was about to shut the sliding door, the doorbell rang. I went back in and went to open the front door. It was Matt.
"Hey Matt. What's up?" I asked
"May I come in? I have something important to tell you" Matt says
"Yeah of course. Come in" I said stepping aside
"Where's the kids?"
"They're by the pool with Jay"
"I need it talk to you both. I'll head out there with you"
We both headed out to the back where Jay and the kids were.
"Hey Matt, long time no see" Jay says shaking Matt's hand
"Uncle Matt!" said the kids running to him
"Hey guys" Matt says
"What brings you here?" Jay asks
"I have some news" Matt says
"It must be important" I chuckled
"Alex was released on bail" Matt says sternly
That was when my heart sank to my stomach. Everything was spinning at the moment.
"You said what now!?!" Jay says angrily
"I overheard Erin and Voight's conversation. They don't know who bailed him out but it was paid in cash full" Matt says
"Why haven't they told me anything?" Jay says
"They're on their way over now" Matt says
"I...I..." I muttered before collapsing onto the ground
-3 hours later-
I wake up in my bed. It was pitch dark out. I hear voices coming from downstairs. As I try to get up, there was this pounding sensation going through my head. As I move slowly off the bed, the door opens and it was Jay.
"Hey hey hey, don't go anywhere. Stay here" Jay rushes over
"Who's here?" I asked
"It's the team. They're downstairs"
"Where are the kids?"
"They're sound asleep"
"Jay..."
"I know. You don't have to say it. Don't worry to much. We will figure this out together. I promise"
I lay back down and shut my eyes without saying a word. I could hear him sighing in frustration before leaving before leaving the room.

Jay's POV
I head back downstairs to the team. We have been trying to locate Alex the whole night but there has been nothing. We traced camera footage from every street corner and nothing has showed up. Whoever bailed him out knew what they were doing.
"Still nothing?" I asked in frustration
"We will catch him" Voight says
"I'm gonna rip him a new one. I can't promise you that I won't be following the book. Whatever happens will happen" I say
"I agree. I'm with you" Adam says
